  • Doesnt high cylinder wall temps = micro welding and barishing?

  • @RanDomKaT1

Running on E85... people actually have problems getting cylinders up to temp on E85.

That's why I did the ATF trick.

  • Have you bought a new one yet or is this your first one? Only one? Idk. When you buy them new they have a break in procedure from the dealership and thats what most shops tell you to do. Sorry to jump your post.

  • @RanDomKaT1

How do you know what the best way to break in a motor is?

I'm just doing what my engine builder told me to do

And no, I didn't blow the stock motor. It had 91k miles on it and was running 22-23psi from a ATP 3076 for 15k miles. I yanked it before it blew up so I could do the pistons, rods, and bearings on an undamaged block.

    I adjusted the map myself.

I held the revs after first start to make sure everything was good... which it wasn't -- had a weak coolant hose clamp

  • Idk. Maybe its cause you didnt blow it up, but this seems weird. Who tuned this car? How many miles do they get from your style break in? I know you did the build and install, thats not the best way to break it in from what I know. You need to build up to 10 psi and 4,5-5k a few times over a 1000 mile period. If you have fresh cams do the high idle break in, duh, flush the oil afterwards with a quart, filter and oil plug open. New filter.Oil change and filter change @ 100 miles,500 miles and 1000

Many very experienced builders say BREAK IN WITH BOOST.

Read again... after making sure the car could drive on the street, I went 10 miles doing really jerky driving (5-10psi, then engine break/vacuum) on cheap SAE30. Changed the oil to regular stuff (VR1 20w50) and turned up the boost to 15-16psi driving fairly normal for 100 miles. Then, change oil, turn up the boost, 7200 redline change oil every 100 miles until I'm @ 500miles. Then change oil at normal intervals.

  • Who gave you the 15 psi Map? Im curiouse what kind of miles that get out of your style break in. Whats up with 3000 rpms for 15 minutes? They didnt give you a real break in map? You held your foot in the throttle for 15 minutes? New cams or wtf is going on here? Im confused by this video.

  • Congrats. Just did the same thing a month ago. Some how im driving the longest thousand miles EVER. 350 more to go til I get to run 15 psi or whenever I run out of injector. Im breaking mine in pm 8 psi, and I dont go over 4k revs. I had one of the classic ringland fails on the last motor. Before I swapped the motor, I changed the oil 2 times trying to get as much micro metal out as I could. Post a dyno vid if you can. You have to be hitting around 400 wheel or better.

  • @RanDomKaT1 Thanks, man.

I was making about 380-400whp before on the stock motor. Kept the boost low (22psi) so I wouldn't break it.

I just pulled the stock motor before it popped so that I have a fresh undamaged block to work with. I put ATF in the cylinders to aid in ring seating, and some jerky driving around town (engine brake and 5-10psi) for 10 miles running on non-detergent SAE30 walmart stuff. Now I'm at 15psi and 5k rpm limit for 100 miles on Valvoline 20-50 VR1 non-synthetic.
