  • I don't care if Tab was gay! He still was sooooo good looking.

  • I love this song. Tab was so good looking.

  • Tab Hunter's evenings were never complete without some huge meat in his seat.

  • No, he's no Sonny James, he's Tab Hunter and provided a fantastic cover with great vocals and a minimum of instrumentative back up...why compare the two, two entirely different singers with different styles? Why not give credit to both?

  • I heard Tab's version was the most popular on the West Coast, where the Sonny James version held court in the East , Midwest and South

  • Brilliant stuff. They don't make them like that anymore

  • Almost as good as Sonny James.

  • lol. the girls when I grew up in the 50s were crazy for old tab. now to find out he was gay the whole time must shatter many a fantasy.

  • Billboard's 17th #1 hit of the rock era. God bless!

  • Does it bother anyone that this song isent about te love between a man and woman? But rather 2 men?...

  • @1994WN "I never thought of it that way". I've tuned this song in at least a hundred times this past year & not once did I think of it that way around. Sure I found out he was gay (if you want to call it that) way back when, but I only took it that he was gay & I enjoyd this song just the same. Anyway homo's were living in the shadows & little surfaced back in the sixties. Something about it was spooky 7 I'm sure many a young man was taunted out of the closet into a yag world.

  • @Ezdduf4kuZ Don't forget, that is if your old enough to remember that you'd know a gay guy if you confronted one. They usually limped their wrists as in to gester that their gay, they lisped & some would even wear women's cloths....at least that's the rumour that was going around, and we'd have a good laugh too. My my look how the times have changed, and there's more to being gay then meets the eye too, unless of coarse you live in Smalltown on the Prairies. Thx4 posting. lol

  • This went to number 1 in Feb 1957 and knocked Elvis Presley's "Too Much" out of the top spot. Young Love was number 1 for 5 weeks. And, it's pretty bad. Even Tab admits that.

  • My teenage son has a collection of old LPs and his friends love them and the music and the art work on the LPs cannot be matched today (said by him)

  • I love this song so much. It is sugar sweet

  • now this is music! im a teenager and i must say the stuff they play right now is horrible! =D

  • This is definetly the version I prefer even tho the radio dj here in Vanouver was known to have favored Sonny's version. There is something in the air when it omes to Tab's version & I can't explain, other than I like the sound of his voie better I guess. Tradgety too is another example, I prefer Thomas Wayne's version over the Fleetwoods, who were well known in the doowop era. I always had it in me for this version & Tab openly opening admitting he's gay had no bearing on my decision.THX

  • FANTASTIC SONG!!!!

  • bACK IN THE DAY HE WAS QUITE GORGEOUS! CAN'T SING WORTH A DAMN BUT GAWD HE WAS CUTE! LOL

  • When you were looking for the guitar chords to this song, did that make you a tab hunter?

  • this song was no 1 the day i was born .. thank you tab xx

  • My husband & I were both born 3-14-57 at the same hospital. This was the #1 Billboard hit at the time. Maybe this is "our song"? Weird, huh?

  • @timntani Sounds like destiny 2 me. :-)

  • Oldies such as this song are simply timeless and excellent. Fond memories are flooding back. Many many thanks for posting this song.

  • Tab and Divine in Polyester.

    Young Love.

  • Best song for young lovers timeless

  • This was his 1957 hit single that was #1 on the billboards for some tme, I loved this song and I still do. Takes you down memory lane.

  • so true xx

  • This a is far cry different than that Rap Pop hit by Eminem, called "Not Afraid", which has chalked up over 65 million views in just two months!!. Makes me think that it would of been far more interesting had we had the internet and youtube back in this era instead of the disjockey to spin the record, hey! I would wonder how Tab would of stacked up in views. Thanks 4 posting my version of Young Love, I won't accept any substitutes.

  • music is music...you only need to like what you like...why bother hating the stuff you dont even listen to? peace

  • Tab, A beautiful song and now that I know you are "family" I know you are singing it for my husband and me. Thanks, Bob

  • Thank you Tab. My husband and I danced to this at a little club with a jukebox when we were both in in the AF stationed in MA in 1957. Stll dancing in the kitchen after 53 years of marriage to this song.

  • thanks a lot haven't heard this one in many generations....i remember the one by Sony James..too..both are great..thanks!!!

  • Very Cool Song. Deep Emotion and Heart.

  • what year? about 60 first came out?

  • hummmm

  • i prefer Donny Osmond singing this

  • Too funny. I heard this song yesterday. When I said it was Tab Hunter, no one remembered him.

  • the orginal is from sony james ;)

  • NOT TRUE!!! Sonny James had the original recording of this song.

  • What a hunk- one of the earliest songs (and best) remembered from my childhood- but likely I remember the Sonny James version. nevertheless- now that I know that Tab had "another" life I can appreciate this version and Tab even more! Glad he covered this song for this will represent him eternally!

  • There are only so many ways you can combine the musical notes. Good original songs and tunes are getting rarer and rarer.

  • dedicata alla memoria di un mio carissimo amico morto a 20 anni in un incidente d'auto, ciao Corrado. lilli

  • The backing is different from the original and it's a bit faster too.

  • Number one on my birthday too! Did do fb game, had to look it up on here!!

  • sorry Tab, ya even sound like a pretty boy. The Sonny James version kicks your pretty butt

  • @KSCrosby Like Heck it dose, you too....had he kept his deepest secret a secret ya wouldn't of made that comment, you must be preety ....!. other than pink! Have you hit on Ricky, katy, Lady Ga Ga or the Backstreet Boys yet? Accept it the future is here, here now!!

  • I got this on 78rpm love it

  • Good song..but Sonny James and almost anyone else does it better.

  • @dkw12002 You have the nerve to have said that in your comment!! I guess the sender lets the comment swing both ways, it dosen't mean Brad Paisley would, I should know! Anyway I was always more fawn of this version ever since when....and yet it was the other version which was more often heard. Another thing I have to wonder if Tabs coming out of the closet plays a decisive role when it comes to the comments, like the one I'm hitting on.

  • @Ezdduf4kuZ I can afford to take time out from my daily bread to get a message out to you as well @ KSCrosby, since I'm hot & fully stuffed. That unhealthy comment made about Tab being a so-called preety boy could of only been made by an "Antichrist"...do i stand to be corrected?, heck no, It's time for dessert (California Strawberries topped with whipped cream). Your right the nerve of some people!!! Thankyou for keeping this gem posted, there's only one Tab!

  • My father like this song very much!

  • im 67 takes me back great stuff....

  • #1 on the day I was born too... I guess I was too young to listen to the radio haha... happy birthday Cheshire1857 did you do that FBook game thing too?? Lol

  • this was number one on the day i was born, never heard of it before today!!

  • @cheshire1957 me too, never heard it either.

  • This brings back so many memories.....

first love - indeed a deep emotion!

I also like the version of Donny Osmond and I put him in my favourites.

  • This is the song that was number one on the day i was born in march 1957...and i think it is lovely:)))))

  • This recording was one of the first records I ever bought thank you so much!!!!! TenStarsplus !!!!!!!! I'm 67 now!!!!!

  • #1 song on the day I was born. I heard it for the 1st time today.

  • When I was 10 [I am 61 now] a lad a couple of years older than me ,said Rock and roll will never die.

    He was RIGHT!

  • i remember when this came out .i went and bought the record it .i am 71 now and i still love this tune and i always will

  • Good for you mate. I'm 46, my wife's 35, and Rock n Roll is FOREVER!!!

  • adam & steve

  • This was always my favorite when done by Tab, but it seemed to be Sonny got all the airplay as a flashback. I wasn't listening to the radio at the time "young love" was a hit back in '57. What really surprized me is what I found out on youtube about Tab coming out of the closet. It wouldn't of worked back when, it would be your darkest secret. It seems the future is finally here..slowly but surely more are coming forward & admitting their gay, making it a little easier for those that haven't.

  • Tab Hunter which is really sad because he was really hot!

  • Tab LOVES Tony

  • Search for "Rauli Badding Somerjoki: Nuori rakkaus". There is an interesting cover in Finnish language.

  • This very acceptable. Why belittle it?

  • He's no Sonny James.

  • wtf

  • True Love! Deep Emotion. Holding them feels Divine.

    :)

  • If it wasn't such a well written piece I doubt Tab would have had a hit. He's no singer. But back then all Hollywood teens idols were trying to be singers. Paul Peterson and Shelly Fabares had hits the rest failed.

  • Indeed, as for my beliefs, Young Love is good for all.

  • This is NOT the Original ; It was RIC CARTEY & THE JIVE - A - TONES doin` this `56 with a killer flipside on RCA. Check it out !

  • The studio made the stars sing and record back then, Some were great, some were good and some were not so good...

  • Eh. They're ok. I just can't listen to them. I can hardly stand listening to 90's music and the Beatles are way before that.

  • Hmm. What a shame.

  • If you hate it so much then why did you even click it?.......

  • hahahahahahahahaha.

  • Què maravilloso recuerdo, muchas gracias!!!!

  • I was in Junior High back in the late 50's, in Dumaguete City, the Philippines. 5 of us young ones formed a "Combo" and performed this song, as one of the features for a school program, in the Auditorium. To our much surprise, everyone loved it. We did not know any other song, so we played it again for the encore. I played a one-string bass made out of a used military-gasoline-steel-drum. Sigh... those were the days.

  • I ear this song since I was a chid, and love to remember this old times

  • I love this song, first time hearing from T. Hunter. We use this song for our line dance, Thanks for sharing this.

    CJJ

  • line dance!! How cool. I know none of the kids nowadays would know what that is but I remember it from my youth. Doing the stroll in the line dance.

  • these are the songs are always green even after 1000 year.

    saco,from istanbul

  • What a lyrics, so smooth and amazing, simply amazing. Thank you so much for sharing.

  • An oldie since my teens!

  • Tab Hunter's most certainly was NOT the original recording.

That honour belongs to Ric Cartey.

  • I know; it's the original mastering of the song by that artist. Have you ever boughten a 60's or 50's mix CD that's cheap at Wal-Mart adn it says *New Stereo Recordings by the Original Artist????

  • Gracias 50s60sand70sMusic por regalarnos este tema tan hermoso y tan bellamente interpretado por Tab. Es realmente un placer escucharlo y remontarnos a cuando eramos adolescentes, creo que varios comparten conmigo este pensamiento.Nuevamente gracias.

  • wonderful to find it back!

  • Great song. What a voice. I am trying to find Tab's 1957 hit Ninety-Nine Ways. Does anyone have it?

  • I'd almost forgotten this one, since for me it was eclipsed a few months later by Pat Boone's "April Love" --much richer and more evocative, like the songs of my parents' generation. But a couple of hours ago "Young Love" flashed into my mind almost completely intact, and I just had to look it up. Thanks for putting it here; it's still a neat little song.

  • I posted the tablature and chords for this song on Ultimate-Guitar. The link is in the description.

  • When was this classic song first released? 1956?

  • LOVE THE SONG AND 50S MUSIC

  • I was 12 when this was released and much to the annoyance of all around me I just could not stop singing it all day every day.

When on a school holiday no other sucker was prepared to make a fool of themselves on stage during a talent contest, I was forcibly volunteered. Cruelly enough, having always previously sung it word-perfect, my voice broke and I died in more ways than one.

The audience? oh yes, they just couldn't stop laughing!

    Fantastic song, thanks for uploading.

  • this is great.

  • Aw....it's so sweet! ♥

  • I remember when this song came out, and I just said "huh?" What a gas!
