  • @Cyanakrli You're exaggerating a little. There are some really decent original tracks in X-2, XII, XIII and XIII-2 that do compare to the older titles, but they are fewer in number. Going so far as to say all the 8-bit is better is a little over the top.

  • Come on people, they ain't that bad. Square Enix makes Kingdom Hearts for Christ's sake. Besides, no new gaming company will be better than an older one. We're old dogs, they can't teach us new tricks.

  • what a bitch she was , i secretily wanted her on my team tho.

  • ;)

  • 3 Goblins hate this song

  • Looking at the video records, most people that listen to this song are teenage to middle age guys. :) Not saying girls don't like FF, but guys just like it more.

  • This game was amazing as hell.

  • WHY COULDN'T SHE HAVE BEEN A PERMANENT PARTY MEMBER =(

  • From what ive seen. most peoples favorite final fantasies were their firsts. mine was XI because THAT was my first. my brothers was ff Tactics.

  • @HairEBallzack This used to be true for me (7 was my first and my favourite for ages) but after replaying them all years later 9 and 6 are my joint favourites. I just objectively think they're better games :D

  • @HairEBallzack That is the magic of playing a Final Fantasy Game for the 1st time regardless of which Final Fantasy game you play.

  • @whitesands81 lol even ff13 or 10-2??

  • Is it me, or do "mistranslated" names from Japanese usually result from their transliteration of english? Read "rose of may" in a thick Japanese accent and it plausibly comes out as "loss of me."

  • @chickensesame Interesting theory...I never noticed that!

  • Comment removed

  • Ah one of the best songs from Final Fantasy IX,

This song makes me feel so happy. =D

I must learn how to play this on my piano. XD

  • This song is both titled loss of me (english version) and rose of may (japan version). and u won't find a better theme for a unique character like beatrix

  • @silverjonquil rose of may is a mistranslation, not another title.

  • @kimahri2800 Loss of Me/Rose of May. Look at it. It's simple Engrish. You cannot unsee.

  • I like what some people are saying. but the FF12 hate is misguided. i dont consider FF8 perfect at all since it is made by the same people who made FF13. and i think you can see how they came from that game, to FF10, to FF13. which i wont say anymore about. i think the 3 top tier FFs, are 6,7 & 9. i found FF12 to be the darkest of the games, since it was a reference to Hiroshima & Nagaski. but Square forced Vaan and Penelo into the game. the original designers never wanted them.

  • SquareSoft > SquareEnix

  • @RdlH93 SquareSoft >>> Dick cancer >>> SquareEnix

  • @MasterOfPES hahahahaha thanks for this comment i needed a laugh

  • @MasterOfPES SquareEnix doesn't even deserve to be on the scale. SquareEnix is shit, and they don't deserve to be compared to SquareSoft.

  • @RdlH93 Anytime pal! Totally agreed.

As for FFIX, pure masterpiece. Love you, Nobuo-san.

  • @RdlH93 Amen to that

  • @RdlH93 how I played games from each maker how r they different?

  • @onliner10000 squaresoft was its own company, then it merged with enix.

  • @onliner10000

squaresoft used to make great games (FF-I to FF-X)

Enix also used to make great games even if most of them never made it to america or europe (i played fantranslated hacks of dragonquest 3 and 5 for example)

but ever since squaresoft merged with enix they absolutely failed to make a Final Fantasy game thet could compare to the classic ones, but they are getting better ff-XIII-2 is way better then X-2, XII or XIII so i think there still is hope.

  • @Cyanakrli

Truer words have never been spoken

  • @Cyanakrli oh ok. I loved ffx. And Ive played the square enix version of ffix and there was no difference. But my sister absolutely loved x-2 & XIII. They were both very good games

  • @onliner10000

of course there was no diference the only diference was that one copy was produced befor they merged and the other one after they merged.

also i never said that they were bad games, i just said that they are nowhere near the classic ones, i mean the 8-bit music in final fantasy I, II and III is better than that in final fantasy X-2, XII, XIII or XIII-2 the only good soundtracks in those games are variations of older titles like the chocobo theme.

  • @Cyanakrli I see

  • I know what Im going to do. Im going to record this on my mp3 player and listen to this on my ihome Recordings sound better on there than my ear buds. Then Ill walk outside in some fields and like think about my problems. It works and helps really good. I recorded unfaithful by rihanna just the piano part, and it sounds great.

  • I used to litterally pause the gameplay to listen to this theme when i was playing FF9 back in the days. Amazing theme

  • best soundtracks from all final fantasies

  • IV is not perfect because sometimes you lose characters at the worst times, also certain songs like the moon theme where annoying.

VI was not perfect because one of the stats was broken and didn't do anything, forgot which one though.

VII was not perfect because Yuffie steals your Matera and then randomly re-equips it which is annoying, also you can't go back to Midgar after leaving the first time.

VIII was not perfect because the Junction system was broken.

  • @Wiseman108 Minor correction. You can go back to Midgar in FFVII after you find the sector gte key in the bone village.

  • @LordNoctis Oh yeah I forgot about that, although I don't think you could explore as much of the area as before.

  • Can everybody stop dissing other final fantasy games and just listen to the music please? They're all great games and fun to play so please stop with the 'which ff is better and which one is crap' arguements because frankly they are all good and fun to play and none of them are crap.

  • I think of this when Im walking out side, pondering about my life problems. U really should try it

  • I forgot how great this really is!

  • i replayed this song so many times. :,< needless to say, my tear ducts have run dry.

  • Jesus I forgot how amazing this game's soundtrack was.

  • @DeadpoolsChimiChanga U FORGOT!! SOOOOOOOO

  • I love beatrix! She is a bad arse! Her Shock was so much better than Leos!

  • Thumbs up for Beatrix in Final Fantasy Dissidia. *___*

  • @shiningdahlia For Beatrix and Auron *___*

  • General Beatrix.....

She is the most awesome swordsman in the whole world.

  • beatrix was very loyal to the queen and for that reason she couldnt tell steiner she loved him

  • Aww. This Song reminds me of the good old days. I want to play Final Fantasy IX again D:

  • Zidane is breath of fresh air considering just about every main FF protagonist is an anti-hero.

  • @JeremyMPoe

    I've only just realised that!

  • @JeremyMPoe ...Hes a theif....Only in it for himself..Until he met Princess Garnet.

  • ff rejects

  • I think the best Final Fantasy bad guys were Beatrix, and Seymour from ff10. And yeah obviously Sephiroth did kill one of my all-time favourite FF characters (not easily disputed against to be the most shocking event ever in a game), so he'd be there, too.

  • @leftymu Beatrix ended up a friend, and Kuja is complete awesomeness.

  • I'm so glad I have learned to play this on the piano! A beautiful piece, so emotive

  • I played this game when I was like 10 years old, and I must say that it was the best time of my life, FFIX was the most incredible game I ever played. This was my favourite theme because I was completely in love with Beatrix, she was my favourite char of the entire game, and listening to this theme now almost made me cry because it made me remember of those great times that I miss so much...

Thanks for uploading the most awesome soundtrack ever!

ps: Sorry for my bad English, I'm from Brazil.

  • its really gorgeous i can feel the torn emotions of love from beatrix about how she feels towards steiner but remains a strong and independent woman.

  • I get confused over the real title, but if you look on Nobuo Uematsu's (the creator of nearly every FF Song) official site, then it says Loss Of Me. I'm going to be playing this song on the keyboard in a Christmas Concert so I'll post it up here and I'd like to see a lot of comments lol :)

  • @KuenLegend i wouldn't trust any "OFFICIAL" website that has the song names translated into English, read them in Japanese and you will realize that Loss of Me is wrong. :)

  • @johndoegsm too bad the, thing is I already told my teachers it was Loss of me, but I'll correct them

  • Thumbs up if you are danish and love cheese!

  • @klaves12 the hell?...

  • peyserconley rocks! this is my favorite channel you are the best!

  • This song is so simple its perfect. I almost think I could of made it up if I was given the chance.

    Man I love this song...

  • "Loss Of Me" is actually a mistranslation if no one has mentioned it yet. The song is actually called "Rose Of May"

  • @Kingofbandits05 You know I found something to be a little funny, Rose of May would sound like it would be Loss of me in "Engrish". (No racism intended.)

  • @Kingofbandits05 I've gotta admit, it's pretty interesting how well the mistranslation still fits. Almost uncanny, even.

  • @SkyBlueFox1 It's not uncanny at all, it is supposed to sound english! The title of the song in Japanese is Rozu obu Mei, which is basically the english 'Rose of May' represented using the japanese phonetic alphabet . If it was in straight Japanese it would be called Satsuki no Bara instead. When translating these kinds of titles, sometimes it is ambiguous which English word is being represented, hence mistranslations like 'Loss of Me'. Hope that cleared things up :)

  • @Kingofbandits05 Ah, i see, they are both written the same way. :3

  • This song reminds me of my childhood, I used to play FF9 when I was 6 or 7 and I've always loved this theme, I remember that I used to play it on the piano, even if I wasn't good at it :)

  • @je9999L Actually, this song along with the entire FFIX soundtrack is on iTunes. It costs about $24.99 for the entire FFIX soundtrack, but I had to download it.

  • I forgot how good the soundtrack to this game was. I love this theme! God I miss this game though... it was one of the best games Square ever made and my firm favourite out of them all.

  • It reminds me to inocence.

  • Thumbs up if you think Beatrix should be in the next Dissidia game

  • If you haven't already, search for "katethegreat Rose of May." You'll be glad you did, lol.

  • Ahhhhh Nastalgia...Grew up playing all these games and still love 'em alot. I wish I stil had my PS1 too. Also my piano...cuz this song got me wanting to play...I used to bug the crap outta my parents with this song...midnight practicing lmao

  • i can't get enough of this song

  • sweet

  • im 13 and i love this game and i love my dad for geting me into the ff 7 8 9 and 10 i dont like any of the others apart from 6 that one was ok

  • The first time I fought her i got sooooo pissed cause when vivi and freya decided to use trance, she used stock break

  • @meganinja... no only cinna's hammer is required. save the queen is not needed. solely for collection purpose

  • Beatrix, the only character in FF serie who fought the party 3 times and lives in the end.

  • Makes a person really think about how much time has passed since they first played this...

  • Anyone else pissed about Stock Break not leaving the monsters at 1 HP when you used Beatrix?

  • @FeartheConstrict

    Haha I know right.

  • one thing i find confusing i in memoria you can synth the save the queen. But isn't that sword only for beatrix? What would happen if you get it?

  • @superman3343 you can trow it whit Amarant =P

  • @VanKenro lolz is that all? You would think it would do better...

  • @superman3343 If you have the Save the Queen or Cinna's Hammer than you get a short extra scene in the ending if I remember correctly. It's not an extremely important scene but it is still worth watching if you have a save at the end of the game to try it on.

  • Beatrix would be one badass character if she had stayed longer with the party. but she knows her duties as general.

  • Loss of Me aka Rose of May. Beatrice the elegant general.

u get to listen to this song twice, once in her ship and the return to alexandria after being destroyed by bahamut

  • I remember when Beatrix kicked my ass when I fought her. I thought was auto game over and I would shut the game off soon as my whole party fell. Good times good times.

  • "Stock Break! W-wha..? WHY THE HELL AREN'T THEY AT 1 HP?!"

  • The best song from FF9 pure gold

  • it may not be the best, but FFIX is the closest to Perfect Final Fantasy Game ever made.. Thumbs up to those who agree *Cheers*

  • @Asparagus428 it was the best game for me no doubt, the others gave me the same feeling. But this 1 stuck with me like no others. I'm sure your view is different for each game and thats why the ff series was what it was...

  • @Asparagus428 Square has made a few "perfect" FF games. IV, VI, VII, VIII, IX, and X. Too me, each of those were "perfect". XII was fabulous, but not on that level. XIII, I won't even start. =)

Anyways. The characters, and soundtrack made IX amazing. The story was a pretty simple, "Stop Bad Guy", but the different personalities of the characters, and how the story unfolds is truley amazing.

  • @DGrant1010

V is actually pretty good too.

  • @YuffieDon

Yeah. I liked it. Theres a lot who didn't, though. I think we can agree that 95% of the people who played the games I listed, loved them :)

  • @DGrant1010 Personally i've never play VII or VIII and they don't seem to appeal to me Xll seemed to MMOish and XIII wasn't bad it wasn't amazing but it wasn't bad i enjoyed some parts of X and some parts i despise (getting some of the Celestial weapons fully powered is a pain in the ass) X-2 was good but people just didn't want to play it multiple times to get 100%

  • @Suzumushi100

I think the biggest factor is nostalgia. If I picked up VII, brand new. Never heard of it, or played it. I probably wouldn't like it. But because I tackled these games at such a young age (played VII when I was 7), playing through them again brings you back to that care-free childhood we all had. :)

Crisis Core for example. If I hadn't played VII, that would have been the most boring game on the face of the earth. Lol.

  • @DGrant1010 The plot may be simple, but the telling, the delivery - how the story unfolds - make it shakespearean. Ok, maybe not shakespearean, but damn, you got it.

  • @kupib07 Exactly. Theres a group of good guys, and a group of bad guys. But everything in the middle is what makes this game absolutely fantastic. 9's Plot and 13's Plot are similar, in that sense. However, 13 failed at "everything in the middle". My opinion, of course.

I can listen to this soundtrack for hours.

  • @DGrant1010 IMO, the plot made this game what it was. He wasn't just any bad guy. This is someone who was sent to save a planet by destroying another, only to realize that his lifespan is so cruelly short that none of it matters for him. Kuja is by far my favorite villain.

  • @Argidisparken Same. Lol. Not even really a villain, when you put yourself in his shoes. Lol. Garland is the real prick.

  • @DGrant1010 Deh... No... He's pretty villainous.

  • @DGrant1010

Actually the themes of nothingness and purpose were anything but simple and it also had a good villain.

  • @DGrant1010

IMO, only FF7, 8, and 9 were truly perfect. But to be honest i can't really speak for 5 or 6 since i never had the chance to play them. 10 was still pretty good but i disliked the gameplay of FF10 and every game after it. 12 and 13 were utter shit.

  • @RarityBrony

That seems to be a common problem. Most FF fans are jumped in during the PSX trilogy and weren't there at the beginning of the franchise. You do need to play IV and VI, though.

  • @DGrant1010 I agree. The fact that each character had their own complex personalities and problems is what makes IX my favorite. Zidane's had an internal struggle with who he was and where he belonged, Garnet (or "Sarah" if you will) had to deal with the loss of her mother and the responsiblity of the entirety of Alexandria. Amarant had to find a new meaning to life besides combat. Eiko Didn't want to be alone anymore. Freya suffered the fall of her hometown and the Fratley business.

  • @DGrant1010 Steiner needed to find a new meaning aside from his servitude to the princess. And i can't even explain Vivi's in words. I don't think i need to say much about quina's XD

  • @DGrant1010 I wouldn't class either VII or VIII as perfect. But VII was still so damn good it makes me wet my pants.

  • @DGrant1010 lol 8 I could not stand 7's storyline wasn't that good but I agree about the other games cept 10 i wouldn't consider perfect cause tidus' voice.

  • @DGrant1010 i personally think that FFIV was a perfect game... heck they even had a sequel and a interlude, but over them all, a lot of remakes! ty for stating it as perfect ;D

  • @DGrant1010 i agree on all of those except VI and especially VII

  • @DGrant1010 Final Fantasy died in me after FFX. Bearable, untill they spit out a FFXI. And that's when I raged quit and stopped the series for good. I remember asking my friend what's his opinion of FFX and he said " I split the cd's in half after playing an hour in" and I agreed in his actions, but I really thought it was a waste of 50 bucks (that's as much as anyone will pay for a game back then)

  • @uznnal True love for art made the first nine games. The rest, copies. Has the artistic industry come to an end? Where did we lose ourselves?

  • @uznnal yea 9 was the last good one all downhill now

  • @DGrant1010 you said it all right there, my friend.

  • Veigar! xD

  • 1: Cheap shot

2: Revenge is coming for you

    3: BITCH

joins our team: *makes Freya hit Beatrix and uses Shock Break on herself* HOW DO YOU LIKE IT

  • FFIX is such an underrated Final Fantasy. It went back to the old school and not many (like myself at first) paid it no attention. I really love this theme...

  • @BrickCity4eva I agree

  • @finaldude456 plus it was the only FF to actually have 2 players! that's overlooked in my opinion. It gave 2 people that may have not liked FF, to LOVE It. I'm surprised they didn't keep the 2 player option and expand upon it.

  • @BrickCity4eva I didnt know it was two playera. Wow i learned something new. How does that work

  • @finaldude456 you go to config mode and there should be a 2 player option there, my memory is fuzzy since It's been years since I've played it and you and a buddy can choose which characters in your party you wanna use and presto! It only has that 2 player function for battles and not much else. It's nice to have a helping hand instead of just watching others play. I'm surprised many overlook that.

  • @BrickCity4evaThats pretty cool. Thanks for telling me ma man

  • @finaldude456 Now, grab a buddy and play the game. May actually easier to play the game that way.

  • @BrickCity4eva Plan too

  • @finaldude456 the only thing I regret about playing FFIX is that I beat it with Cheat Codes when I was a kid. I wish I can go back and play it though and do it the honest way.

  • @BrickCity4eva Dont worry Ill make a video showing how to play it on your pc. Unless you already know how

  • @finaldude456 I kinda do...but that's too much work to play 4 discs of gaming on a computer.

  • @finaldude456 If possible can you also explain how to play it on a Linux?

  • I like to pretend ff7 and ff8 don't exist and go ff1-6 then 9 and X since they are the best ones in the series in my opinion.

FF9 has the best if not one of the best soundtracks in the series, and that is a big deal since ff6 soundtrack is fantastic as well as ff4's soundtrack.

  • Hmm great theme and great char, damm you square enix, what have you done?

You ruined your own company and destroyed great characters in that piece of shit kingdom hearts 3.

  • Ohh if only they were able to record with live instruments. You can only take so much midi, and this would be soooo lovely if the phrases were shaped from a real piano. Sorry.. I ranted too much. Despite that, great theme.

  • @rikku38

    youtube.com/watch?v=8qL164-x5Zw

    You're welcome :3

  • FFX was the last great FF tbh.

  • Beatrix used Stock Break on the number of dislikes.

  • youtube.com/watch?v=bNHtbw4Kyf0

awesome lyrics version of loss of me

  • thanks for sharing with us! :)

  • Beatrix: the limited-time playable character we all wanted to actually be IN the party.

  • @danceyxdance I'd replace her with Steiner any day.

  • @danceyxdance Ahah! That's what I've always thought! Love Beatrix...just imagine a party with her and Stainer standby together :-)

Great game, anyway...for me the second favorite in the series (ff8 will always be in the first place)

  • @danceyxdance Definately, I'd swap her for Steiner anytime...

  • @danceyxdance Hey, I wanted Cinna in MY party. But I guess since you can get both their weapons, it's sort of like carrying a little piece of them into battle against evil.

  • @Antiformed I didn't know Steiner could get her weapon until my 3rd playthrough. What's worse is that I didn't learn Shock until my fourth. Ahhhhhh I miss when there was so many secrets in Final Fantasy games. Hopefully XIII-2 will be better!

  • @danceyxdance What about Leo?

  • @catuse167 Leo was amazingness, and I'm still waiting on the sequel game where it turns out he's alive. If Square Enix can publish twenty billion VII spinoffs, why can't they do one for VI? It's tied as my favorite Final Fantasy with IX :D
