Pretty good commentary on this engine--an American 4-cylinder from this era wouldn't have lasted 15 seconds. A friend floor-boarded an 80's Cadillac 4.1 and it blew in 27 seconds.

Bought a '90 Festiva 5 spd. on 7/5/04 with 159K for $300--tho't I'd be lucky to get it home. It's now got 192K, worn out first set of tires. New clutch and timing belt at 175K, new radiator about 187K, rear wheel bearings 191K--about $1,300 total--gets 39-41MPG every fill-up.

I thought this video was for the Festiva, but it's the Fiesta.

Apparently they're both diehards. The Festiva is from Korea. It's actually a Kia. And the Fiesta is from Germany. Not sure who made that one. If I found another Festiva (or a Fiesta) for that price I'd buy it, because like you said, the gas mileage is great.

I heard Ford is doing real bad right now. That would be terrible if they went under. I love Fords.

They are ALL doing bad right now--but I too love Fords. My other "Ford" is the 4th '77 Mercury Grand Marquis with a 460 I've owned since 1985--and the best one, with 48K on it. Gets an honest 13 MPG with a tailwind.

I especially like the Sables '88-'93 with the 3.8 litre engine. People forget what revolutionary cars those were when they were new.

i agree with pzdchris1 - drain the oil or even better, leave about 1 litre in. Guarranteed to blow a hole out of the block! makes for a much better video
