Not a huge crowd here as there is now. But what can you expect? It was the first season and no one had ever seen anything like it before, but after this season, the show really took off and I mean REALLY took off. They have a huge stadium for the top 12 and a lot more seats.

This is just my opinion on why I don't care for Kelly Clarkson. I think she is too boastful and too showy. Being outgoing is one thing but she is over confident and over emphasises her performances. She can sing but she just comes across like this even from her audition for idol.

I actually would have to disagree with you. :)

I think she has AMAZING stage presence at the time. What you see, I think, as over confidence, I see someone who is definitely in their comfort zone. I see a sense of professionalism in the way she performs because it's so engaging for me. Her bubbly personality comes through.

In terms of confidence, she didn't act like she was better than everyone else or was entitled to do well, she was always very humble and thankful when she got good reviews. She has a good voice and she used it, what else was she supposed to do in a singing competition? I mean, I suppose you can dislike her personality but I found her quirkiness and energy to be cute and funny, and she was being herself.

You know what? America got it right the first time on the first Idol. I think it's because they voted on talent rather than popularity.
