They deserve at least a bronze medal at this Olympics but U and Z stole their bronze medal and then started making up lies about Oksana to destroy her as their biggest competitor.
Anyone know the composer of the music? I heard the middle portion (at 2:35 min) played on a violin classics cd ...thank you. Sheng Zhonghua violin cd.
@gk891 Thank you soooo much! Found Liebesleid by Fritz Kreisler on youtube. Also, thank you for posting the commentary from Christopher Dean - true talent and artistry transcends time.
@twentymovie This music played by Kryzler & Kompany. They are Japanese musician. Unfortunately, they already stopped their performance. But Taro Hakase(He is the violinist) still produce lots of nice music.

This is the name of music.
anyone who thinks the duchesnays had better basic skating skills than these two really needs to get their eyes checked. sure the duchesnays' choreography was memorable, but technically g/p were far superior and deserved at least the bronze at these olympics.
Sorry to disagree, but beside the fact that the music is a generic bore and the costumes horrifying, there is no originality, nothing memorable or interesting in their choreography at all. Yes, technically they are proficient, but the Duchesnays overall program was mesmerizing and original with great Christopher Dean moments throughout. This program is instantly forgettable--and they can't hold a candle to Klimova & Ponamorenko or Usova & Zhulin, although Oksana held on to something of Zhulin's.
Yes, I do think this was a great performance--perhaps greatly undermarked. However, let us remember that Platov had just split up with Fedorinova late in 1989, when Oksana had just won jr. worlds with Chichov. So, this couple was only on its way up as a senior team in the judges' eyes in 1992...
I love the Duchesnays but technically this performance (and Grishuk & Platov's earlier programs at these Games) should have imo placed them above the Duchesnacys-and on the podium. This is after all a sport and the best athletes/artists should win at the end of the day.
What happened to Chickov? He and Gritschuck were great together in the 1988 Jr. World's.

@stonerr I think he had to retire due to health problems after 1988.

@twentymovie No problem. I quite like the music although this is a more modernized variation of the original piece if I'm not mistaken.

I think the music might have been the reason for their fourth place finish. It's rather odd for an ice dance... but they were still spectacular.
