  • 2:47 gives me chills.

  • love this

  • i love this! this is exactly wat Qawalli is suppose to do and this is exactly the reason why Nusrat went mainstream with it... i love this! its so awesome.. Jeff Buckley is a legend and he did justice to the Ustad..

  • I am addicted to this one

  • I don't care whether on not he's mispronouncing words or how accurate he is or anything of that nature. The words are unimportant. All I hear is beauty and transcendence.

  • This is what it is all about. LOVE and RESPECT. Now all is left is hating in this world.

"This is what they do in pakistan like this" haha awesome.

From hallelujah to yeh jo halka halk suroor

  • Only thing he lacks is accent. Everything is there you name it and it is there. His voice is so awesome for qawali singing resemblance to NFAK himself.

  • He loved NFAK. He said "He is my Elvis"

  • He sounds so cute, mispronouncing almost EVERY word. Awwwww..!!

  • Yay! Thank you for posting! ~w~

  • Arrayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy WAH.

  • One of the best thing I've ever laid ears on.

  • i must say that jeff sang it v well. I listen qawalis too much and western too. the way Jeff blended this qawali is very nice. its not like he is competing Nusrat Khan Sb but he honored Him.

  • Break it Down Jeff..!!!

    You Rock..!!

  • 4:28 YES! Break it down, Jeff. This whole thing's intoxicating. Much love to Ustad Nusrat & to the lovely Jeff...<3

  • I bet Jeff and Nusrat are in heaven singing together !!!!

  • @moviesitara i dont mean to bring religion into this. But just to clarify, my brother Heaven and Hell would be opened on the day of judgement :)

  • eastern legend to a western legend ,, R.I.P BOTH LEGENDS

  • for those of you who dont know...Nusrat Fateh ali khan was JEFF BUCKLEY'S IDOL..he called him his elvis..soo people calling him watever names should shut up before knowing the actual fact!!

  • I wish I would have been there.

  • amazingggggggggggg............no words to describe this marvelous duet..........wanna touch the feet of the maestro and also the person whose love for his master made him perform so near perfect...this is what passion makes you do....just excel........and be the best...........

  • Wow! A Western artist gets it more or less right! I can't tell so much, being Western myself, but it sounds good to me. Got to get into this guy!

  • @Ramah1358 He didn't quite get it more or less right, objectively speaking. A decent Indian singer would have done a better job. But for a Westerner singing Nusrat, this is an amazing, unbelievable performance, he's not supposed to get anywhere near this close. Yes, I agree with the sentiment expressed in other comments here: Jeff knew what music is all about. What a pity there are so few like him!

  • Wow! I never really got the Jeff Buckley hype. Now, I think I'm beginning to know. The words are foreign, but the feeling of the music transcends verbal language. He got that. And he dedicated himself to learning the beauty that is this song.

And I thank him for sharing. (and I thank you, too, khurramsaleem17)

  • thankkk you jeff buckleyy! you know what music is!

  • jeff proved music transcends language, religion, race everything......

  • To the people laughing at 1:00 : YES, there are songs in other language than english. They must have felt pretty bad after this amazing interpretation...

  • Much love, love love

  • BRAVO...... BRAVO BUDDY

  • This cover was so unusual that after the first verse people laugh, they think Jeff is fooling around...

  • respect

  • so siiiccckkkkkkkk

  • very nice........ i love it...

  • Damn... Jeff Buckley what a talent...

    He did this very well

  • Ok so Jeff couldn't do this song as good as Nusrat, but nevertheless he is fabulous...any other pure white boy raised in California, with Irish ancestery able to sing a song NFAK did, I don't think so. If anyone finds him reply to me and let me know. Buckley , poser no not EVEN close. I don't particurlarly like this type of music but Jeff helps me appreciate it.

  • Beautiful... while NFAK's version was mystical and enchanting, this version has pure emotion and love... both extraordinary... RIP Jeff Buckley

  • just amazing.

  • this is superawesome... Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan was an untouchable legend, and this is a worthy tribute by someone who doesnt even speak the language the song is in...... well done Jeff Buckley

  • I think Jeff did a pretty good job here. Any tribute to Ustad Nusrat would make me happy anyway though haha. It gives me a warm feeling when my country gets the rare recognition that it so surely deserves.

    Pakistan Zindabad.

  • @rizwantakkhar Is this him singing? If so Jeff did a great job ! I didn't believe it was him singing cause he was pronouncing so good. Even his qawalli technique is really good. Nusrat taught and he really learnt ! This guy doesn't fuck around.

  • @abbyroman This is definitely jeff singing - no question about it.

  • what's amazing about this whole thing is not only is he remembering all these words in a language he's not fluent in but singing them beautifully and passionately while also having to play some elaborate guitar chord changes......absolute incredible talent

  • can i get the lyrics of this song

  • hey anyone else think he sounds incredibly like a Pashtun? I'm one myself and hearing this made me think of a cousin of mine trying to sing the Ustad's urdu songs.

  • "ye jo halka halka suroor hai"

    This slight intoxication,

"ye teree nazar ka qasoor hai"

... is because of your glance

  • My friend is from Pakistan and said that Jeff did this song perfectly.

  • I am from Pakistan and I think he did an amazing job, captured the melody, imitated the sounds, i was shocked

  • smooth. i think ive listened to this track everyday for about 6 months now. thanks for posting this..wish there was a video

  • he sang like "taan saaen" wao wao wao wao true love

  • i agree. but that doesnt mean that you could not try new things. i think jeff did this cause he really liked the song, and possibly wanted to honor nusrat, not because he thought he was as good or better than him.

  • plus someone in the audience asked him to.

  • vvvvvvvvvveeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyyyyyy loving song !

  • wish there was a video of this

  • smooth

  • abay gand say nahi bol raha hai.. tutla raha hai tutla raha hai... LOL

  • jeff buckley and nusrat fateh ali khan. 2 legends of music.

both passed on in the year of 1997-

you don't know how much we miss you both. love and peace.

  • WOW!!! great job!!! i LOVE the Nusrat version, but this one is really good!!!!

  • I've been in love with this video for weeks now, and then just found out it was posted on my birthday. Cool little fact, for me. :D

    Just beautiful....

  • just pure love.

  • what a great tribute...from one legend to another

  • LOVE

  • i love this song by nusrat fateh ali, jeff didnt spoil it......made it better :)

  • please no way,its good but not better, you are definitely deaf

  • whoa what a nice tribute, very impressive that he memorized it and made a noble attempt at a very difficult musical style. Good effort. Go team!
