What an utter sham this is, the award is for a safe area for the public yet the council have signs up warning it isn't safe due to golf being played, and the judges get paid "expenses" for judging it!
As usual the public are getting fleeced due to corrupt bureaucracy with a predetermined agenda.
Its disgrace the amount of money this council have spent so far replacing the benches in the Appley park/Canoe Lake area.
There was nothing at all wrong with the old benches that were all paid for as memorial bench by relatives, and now the council say they are going to wood chip them in the name of re-cycling!?!
What's more the new benches are lower than the old ones!
So much for catering for the disabled this is downright discrimination.
I have some footage I took of these benches being replaced it must have cost a fortune there are about 30 of them in total, I thought they had to be replaced with higher ones as and when they neededreplacing...not that they did need replacing...ECO ISLAND?
The trouble with this is that local authorities concentrate the majority their parks budget on one park, to satisfy pointless criteria set by a supposedly "independent charity" that are dancing to the tune of their puppet masters in the government,in order to obtain this meaningless green flag.
How can it be benefiting communities if one "showcase" is causing the other areas the people also use to be neglected in order to satisfy the governments mandate?
