You can't help but like Babs. She's pretty and level headed. When she agrees to stay at Bob's flat you know what's going to happen to her. You can't help but hope that it isn't true, but when Bob tells her "...your my type of woman." there is no doubt whatever; she'll be raped and strangled.
Hitchcock was unrelenting.
Minutes later Bab's body falls out of a potato truck in direct view of the police car following it. Unmerciful!
I had seen this movie before but found it so disturbing I chose to never watch it again, unlike other Hitchcock movies. Thanks for pointing out this scene. I don't remember it. I think I chose to forget it and the movie. But it is very effective and haunting.
The best part of my favorite Hitchcock movie!Unforgettable scene! It's a very strong part..the pepole in the street don't know what happened in the house..one of the Master's bests!Very scary..Perfect!
fantastic scene, iconic. all the ambient street noises as the camera emerges from the doorway - the world chugs along, indifferent, oblivious to the unspeakable happening behind closed doors. it's a microcosm of life
i agree... this is a great film.. saw it first sometime in the 80's as a young kid n never forgot it... didnt see it again until a few years ago... that scene in the potato truck just amazing
This is one of those movies that is great but not many people (at least Youtubers, anyway) know about it, and one could probably get away with uploading it in several parts... <_<
Just think what his films would have been like with todays tech?

Hitchcock tried to persuade Michael Caine to play Bob (he thought the role was too disgusting)

Notice how Bob states that she should travel and that she has her whole life ahead of her only to kill her shortly afterwards.

One of the finest scenes in film history when the camera is leaving the scene together with the silence

He was crouched behind her and stood up at the right time. Says so on the "making of" documentary on the dvd, and you can see it anyway.

Very ominous silence at 0:05 just prior to 'got anywhere to stay' line from the killer, along with the close-up on the victims face.
The moment at 2:40 is the studio to live action cut.

It would be a disgrace to show a masterpiece like this uploaded in bits and parts to YouTube :/
