  • oh sh.t i see scsu wit dat new three

  • Who cares about DCI other than DCI members? They are very technical if that's what you like. . DCI, Who even knows that they exist? These drummers have fans! The bands in the SWAC are usually more popular than the football teams. It's entertainment, and it's all about which group turns the fans on more. Not who is more impressive to other "percussionist." This is about Drumming folks! When folks are dancing in the stands to what you do... it's good!

  • packed stadium..

big turn for this epic drumline battle...

  • @drumiestdrummer this is after the game so yeah not a whole lot of people were still there. also this is old

  • This is from 2005, right? Does anybody have the actual halftime show to this game?

  • Best part random dude walks infront of Camera turns stares then hurrys out of the way LOL

  • S&S ALSO KNOWN AS STICKS N SHIT LOL!!!

  • yep i did see a little kid on the line. little kid for the win

  • @TheDragonmaster18 do they have cloth in there tenor drums. those sound like buckets. and they have no technique. look at how all them are playing wild. thgey hitting the hell out them drums.i gess they got us in watts. lol

  • @tvines31 im not a student at either of these school's so i couldnt tell whats in their drums but it does sound like they have something in those drums to make them have a muffled sound. and yes i am a percussionist

  • do i see a little kid on asu's snareline?

  • @TheDragonmaster18 lol...prob did...I was there...and they was talking so...much shit and got they ass drug the next day...lol..

  • Both of these lines were garbage. ASU has big sound but the snares were all uncordinated and just sloppy playing. SCSU had better sticking (but not by much). They also genreally sounded better ant the cadence in this vid was more intresting and kinda fun to watch. I didn't like the tenors on either line. I went to JSu lol WT wears em like basses. Anywho both lines have a long way to go.

  • BBI put it on yall ass...and yeah i was there...fall 05 baby

  • when wasthis the day before honda or was it the day of

  • All gimmicks. No real skills.

  • if youre going to have tenor drums play then like tenors not basses

  • they play them upright(like basses) cause the sound will travel farther and will be louder cause playing em downright causes most sound to go in da grass makin the sound not travel as far and it wont be loud as they would like lolz did mi science fair project on this

  • nice stikn, but it's like they do everything four times, I don't like that. They need to peep funk train-

  • ask funk train what happened in 04'?....the last time we saw them!

  • S&S Sticks and Shit

  • wow....we debuted this cadence here...my crab year...crazzzaaayyy!!!!

  • maybe its the tape but both sound a lil mutty

  • Loveeeeeeeeeee It.

  • Can't noone fuck with SCSU. If you not down with the 101 then you ain't shit. 1-0-!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • look im not saying that they cant play but this is a joke to other drumlines. look yes its kool to see what people can do with the sticks but in the end is a drumline not a flag corp not only would large univeristy kill these guys but these fools look like middle school compared to a DCI drum corp

  • Will you stop with all this DCI comparisons, yes DCI has some of the best individuals, but it's a much more professional level where individuals who've been through rigorous training are weeded out to contain some of the best individuals showcased, the case is different here.

You don't see me finding every DCI video and comparing the individuals to the Boston Symphony Orchestra, you get the point it's two different levels, if anything please keep your comparisons on a semi-relative level.

  • um i never went to every video like this and say anything i so happen to see it and left my opinion. and lol at trying to say my comments are not realitive to this drumline video when it is, my coment was comparing a "college" drumline who kids who go to school for this shit to a dci band. back when the cavs won in 2000 thier drumline avg age was 18-19 years old.

  • I apologize for any misunderstand, but I was referring to the many individuals who find it necessary to compare college drumlines to DCI for reason as you stated I guess to be a similarity in age and instruments. And sure their relative in this sense but you didn't get the gist of what I was saying.

  • DCI is unrelative when considering ability level, the sense of professionalism, in some cases technique and values. I mean come on you got a group of rather talented individuals who are for a period of time are full time professional performers. And regarding membership of the top corps, it's highly competitive, attracting musicians from all over the world, with only the best selected to perform. If you can't see how these circumstances make comparisons in ability rather irrelevant then fuck it

  • wtf is ur prolem ill tell u mine people who whomade the movie drumline. now thanx to these dumb fucks from MTV people think a drumline is a group of Not good enough people who can wave thier sticks around more then they can play thier instrument. im not saying these 2 types belong int he same catagory as the way you put it. ( which i respect the way you talk about dci dont get me wrong) but i fucking hate these type drumlines that was my whole point. not to compare them.

  • I have no problem aside from seeing people comparing Universities who pale to the talent of DCI. I believe you understand where I'm coming from when I say their on two different levels in numerous aspects, so it's really not necessary. Constructive Criticism is fine any day but all these DCI comparisons is starting to get to me when you consider the different levels of in short ability, professionalism, technique, and values. It's just like the analogy I used with the Boston Symphony Orchestra

  • Regarding the movie drumline, you have to ask yourself some questions.

What makes a movie especially about the performing arts successful? Typically flashy visuals or extremely impressive ability "in the eyes of a non-performer" ?

What setting do you put young adults in? College

    Any Ideas?

Sure they could've portrayed DCI but in the eyes of success, they're going to go with specifically HBCU known for performing to extremely large crowds regularly.

    I just can't envision a DCI storyline.

  • I agree urban "show style" lines need to up their ability playing wise and preserving cleanliness, but visuals are what "WOW" the non-performing crowd which might explain the name show style.

It's become embedded as traditional. Most of these lines need a mentality check that *apparently* can only come from within the the style itself, not from sources such as DCI. The middle school beginners are admiring the high school lines, who're admiring Universities with a mentality that is alien to DCI.

  • I THINK ITZ CALLED S AND S

  • anybody know the name of the first cadence??

  • OK..... TrillCoop........if tonals suck so much why did ASU march with them in the mid 90's? and I know they did march with them cause I went to a couple of games. ASU was one of the bads I grew up watching.

  • meac drumlines kiss ass!!!! NOBODY CARES DAMN

  • the best of the best man

  • Yeah we will stay over in the meac. This is where percussionist are made, you guys just beatin the drum.lol

  • @spillane81 what in the hell is the meac. name one good percussionist from there. i didnt think so!

  • @tvines31 meac stands for mid- eastern athletic confrence meac for short and by the way all the best drumlines and bands are in the meac

  • @TheDragonmaster18 i know what it means. but what da hell is meac! LOL all yall do is dance. but we country! i hope this not a meac school because dats some bull shit.

  • @tvines31 actually SCSU is a MEAC school but ASU is a SWAC school. and fyi MEAC bands do more than just dancing buddy. SWAC schools are the ones that do mostly dancing. i live in Texas but ive always loved the MEAC bands cause they are better than the SWAC.

  • @spillane81 SWAC ALL DAY THE MEAC SUCK BUT FAMU IIGHT BUT STATE STILL BLOWING

  • ASU is in the SWAC nobody cares about no tuned bass drums in the swac besides tonals suck you cant feel no groove or funk with tonals i know because i played tonals in high school. please stay over in the MEAC with that Morris brown/famu hybrid

  • No tonals! Are you serious? I believe it was just YOUR high school that couldn't groove or funk with tonals.

  • Bama State...what the fuck is up with these pre-school cadences??? get your weight up 4real yall playin shit that we played when i was in high school..yall heard of rudiments..use some. damn...props to yall z's tho yall always on points

  • Ladies and Gentleman Steve "Yes he did" Brown at 5:24 LOL. Dude is a straight clown.

  • This to funny... If they(ASU) even reads music, I bet it looks like this. 4 measures and a repeat sign. Then add the next instrument in... Ur cadences sound like a step team. That snare break musta been taught by Delta's or Alpha's or something. U guys suck ass... It's ashame u guys call urself a University playing those "PLAYSKOOL MY 1ST NOTES" cadences.

  • sorry i have to disagree what you just said was bullshit

  • It is evident that you are either apart or support this monstrosity... ASU drumline sucks. This IS COLLEGE not MIDDLE SCHOOL... If this is all you have to display in a DRUMLINE COMPETITION than u r garbage. If you think degree of difficulty limits itself to quarter and eighth notes then I have no time to ENTERTAIN myself by acknowledging your stupidity... It is evident that you suck and/or have been misguided in your percussion pedagogy... Get Real IDIOT

  • personally (just an opion) but i think they are good because yes they play simple simple but they are also flipping their sticks.... i go to a white school thus us acually reading music and marching like we have sticks stuck up our asses but yes there is some extreme tallent here you just need to analyze it and look closer!!!

  • That makes you good b/c you flip sticks? LILRO205, you are a supreme idiot. Name 1 person that's endorsed by a major company b/c he/she flip sticks??? No One. But the cats w/ great showmanship that are endorsed still can play their asses off. Jeff Queen, Bill Bachman, Scott Johnson, THomas Lang, ect. Man you are stupid. Just b/c you go to a white skool dnt mean shit. I went to a corps style high skool then I went to SCSU. And I was a BEAST on the line from day 1. ASU needs 2 grow up...

  • who is scsu endorsed by...i know who ASU is endorsed by

  • SCSU no endorsements(Conn Selmer/Ludwig deal so yea but no) ASU endorsed by who??? I never heard of that. Please name the company so I can research the artist/endorsee page of that company. And make sure its a worthwile company... AND FYI-Endorsements dnt make you better than someone who doesnt have one... Idiot... Man dnt post on here ever again. The best rappers are unknown KINGS w/ no deals, the best ball players are street legends no deals... BAMASAX4 make it ur bizz to not post dumbshit...

  • Get some Damn Class AND tAkE nOTES!!!!!!A...S......A....S.....UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUu

  • suck

  • Beastin my ass. These niggas is sloppy(ASU) They arent doing anything complicated just simple shit over and over. ASU put some DCI in ya shit and chopp it up a little with out spinning your stick through the whole damn cadence and then we can talk. SCSU to the fullest. Yall aint even got tunned bass drums.lol

  • @spillane81 STATE IS FUCKING BEASTING & THAT TUNNED SHIT UGLY ASS FUCK & THEY CHOPPIN SO GET RIGHT & SCSU CAN GET IT

  • @spillane81 this type of drumline is for entertainment that is what all showstyle drumlines and bands are for. if they played nothng but rudiments in their cadences then the audience would boo off the stage you cant compare DCI to this style they work hard to just on a different level. as a musician you should respect them for they do. and so what if it aint perfect who cares you can still do the sticking and be a musicains at the same time.

  • @spillane81 its not really a swac thing to have tonal bass drums. there is only one swac drumline that uses tonal bass drums and that is alcorn but they suck at playing them

  • ASU be beastin!!!!

  • TTB IS THE REALESTTTTTTTTTTT
