Every time I stick my PS1 memory card into the slot,nothing pops up on the screen.What do I do?WHAT DO I DO?!!!!!! I'm gonna lose it if I can't play my Symphony Of The Night.
i have a ps2 and i still love ps1 games so im gonna keep my ps2 games and gets some ps1 games and a ps1 memory card..atleast sony lets us do that if you dont got a ps1 cause basicly your ps2 is a ps1 but better
No not directly the situation is that the PS1 uses an older method of accessing, while the PS2 memory card has a very different method. In the past one would say "Save to block 13" now you just give the data to the memory card and it will handle it. The difference between a storage box that you self put things into and a system that manages your parcels.
PS2 can't use the PS2 memory card because it's block out in PSX mode(which obviously don't use PS2 hardware) Stop being an annoying ass for once and use your original memory cards for back ward compatibility
i think the new game systems should have had memory card slots. i remember i we had a blue mega memory card that had so much space on it and different pages where you can put more stuff on it. but we eventually through it away cuzz it wasn't working properly. then we got a new 1 on ebay and it didn't work. seems like no memory card bought off of ebay works. they don't sell mega memory cards anymore cuzz the whole idea was to have people to buy more memory cards cuzz they had a very limited space

@superphilps3 plus memory cards dont have the issues like hard drives have 'my ps3 loves to slowly corrupt saves and themes for some reason' im not overly impressed with the cheap hardware quality of the ps3 and 360. they're both ok game wise but almost nothing original or worth buying the consoles for. you could just play the exact same shooter games on ps2 or gamecube. non rpg single player games on current gen consoles are a joke. hell ps2 still has battlefront/call of duty online i've read.
@superphilps3 i just cant get into any of the ps3 games anymore . i was into uncharted 1/2 but they eventually got old due to lack of any bonus single player gamemodes or any interesting multiplayer modes. i was also into littlebigplanet for user created maps but due to my hard drive deleting my saves yet again i have not gotten around to doing a few hours of tutorials just to start playing again. playstation seems to have abandoned the series from the ps1 era that made them what they are.
@superphilps3 by that i mean them whoring out spyro, firing 989 studios and making that crappy online syphon filter 'the psp ones are great but there needs to be a full ps3 syphon filter sony refuses' twisted metal was also forced as a psp only title and only recently got a console sequel. sure theres ps2 ports that does not help gaming on the ps3 due to sony excluding backwards capability with ps2. a kick in the nuts to any longtime ps gamers who like to play older games besides god of war HD.
@superphilps3 problem is that the HD tvs are slowly removing support for older cords so the HDMI ps3 is hurting the ps2's lifespan by not supporting ps2 BC. sure sony will eventually release the more popular ps2 games as downloads but what happens when all my SD support tv including older hdtvs finally bite the dust and i want to play something besides god of war, sly cooper or gta? i doubt great underrated games such as freestyle metal x would ever make it as a downloadable release.
Ahhh memory cards, nostalgia. I remember back when PSW started, their first magazine was as thick as a dictionary, and they gave away a free red memory card. Good times.

Only thing is for some reason it randomly switches cards sometimes and I have no idea what triggers it. Its not a big deal because you just press the button and the game rereads the card as though you had just inserted one. its just weird and I don't know why this occurs.
@StephensStuff Just programming and system architecture stuff that they couldn't get around. Besides, if you have PS1 games to play on your PS2, chances are you have a PS1 memory card.

@ferretlord2177 Actually there is some sort of functionality there. The ps3 has virtual memory blocks which you can create. There is also an accessory you can buy which allows it to read memory blocks from both systems. I have one and its very useful for backups. However I think it screws up psone saves sometimes since psone saves arent measured in kilobytes but in blocks.
I have a problem with my memory card. If I save more than 4 data, my memory card corrupt and I have to format everytime! I buy a new memory card and even a new Playstation but nothing is changed!
I wish we still had memory cards, and other solid-state drives as the norm of the gaming industry. My old Gamecube is still running strong, but I had to buy a new 360 after just a year and 3 months, because repairs weren't under warranty (not RROD, but though it seemed a hardware failure, like a loose cable or broken cog, I never found the source of my problems inside the case)
i love the idea of memery cards its so awsome i remember in gran turismo1 you could trade card with you friends using memery cards now thats awsome + if you games gets lost or damaged if you get a new one you dont need to start over they should bring memory cards back ad 250gb ssd drives that would be awsome

I have such a stack of those things. Because, their RAM was so weak. Seriously, along the lines of 100k. I know this, because back in the day, I was a big fan of RPG Maker. And, the best games milked every last k for all it was worth...including data hacking.
The PS2's upgrade to 8 Meg was so welcome. And, I'll gladly take a terrabyte drive for the PS3 over memory sticks.

The fact you cant save psone memory to a ps2 straight away sucks big time.
You can transfer psone saves from a psone block to a ps2 one but when you want to save psone games first hand you need an actual psone memory card.
Its real a kick to the balls for retro gamers in my opinion.

The PS2's upgrade to 8 Meg was so welcome. And, I'll gladly take a terrabyte drive for the PS3 over memory sticks.

u dont have ps1????? OMG when i was young i smashed my ps1, but now my friend sold me him ps1 fat with modchip, pad, mem card, all new for only 15 dollars!! and i have the expansion for 4 pads original SONY!

I always used to write on my N64 catridges, on the top actually so people knew...THAT'S MY GAME! Anyways, I had one of these but it was blue and see-through much like the Performance one I had (except this one you can actually tell is SEE-THROUGH). Didn't come with a sticker T_T

awesome video. have some of you fellas checked out the wow cheats pack at warcraftbotsXinfo (replace X with .) ? it's impressive, i recently down loaded the pack. it's got completely every thing inside it, gold guides, bots, hacks, glitches and even the new arena glitch. i probably shouldnt reveal to people about it but at least this offers you all a fair opportunity to get it before i pwn you all!

@DestinyHeroFlamer Yeah I remember those days when could'nt save your game. You would have to play it in one day. I use to be like oh man. When the memory card came along I'm like yeah. Been that way ever since.

One thing I enjoyed about a memory card over a HDD is that when your console is broken, you don't lose those several nights of hardcore gaming. :P

i just found a ps1 at goodwill for 5 bucks and it works. i use the ps3 cords for it and ps2 controlers work on it. but i found a brand new ps1 rumbel controler at goodwill to for 5 bucks also

My ps1 memory card wont work on my Ps2 slim. Does anyone know why? Its in perfect condition but it wont show up on the loading screen, and wont let me save Ps1 game files on it.
