Have you used those programs your talking about on various OS? I mainly work in 3D graphics, and I have used Maya, Photoshop, Zbrush, 3D Coat, and various other programs for my work. Hand down there's no question about it OSX is superior for productivity. If you did, then you'd know that all of these programs run on OpenGL. Also you don't have to download anything in OSX because it already comes with everything you need insuring cross program stability, which was a huge issue for me with Win7.
3) Where as with windows I'm in a constant state of worry about the stability of my system. Linux is also fantastic, it's probably too complicated for a normal user but once it's installed and set up it's fantastic. Extremely reliable, does not hog your resources, gives you safe internet access, and Ubuntu's built in software center is very useful, I would highly recommend to anyone using windows for work, to have Ubuntu also installed on they're system for internet and casual use.
2) There is no doubt Win7 is a large improvement over Vista, but it's still no where near as good as OSX or Linux. I used OSX for 2 years on a MacbookPro and absolutely LOVED it. It required no disk defragments, virus scans, registry cleaners, etcs. The OS was so simple and reliable that I've had a total of 2 crashes over the course of 2 years. It gives a 3D artist full confidence that they can do they're work and get it done without any worries that the OS will fail.
1) Win7 does suck : / I've used Windows, OSX and Ubuntu for leisure and work. The ONLY way I can get win7 to run reliably with my 3D apps is if it's on a very fresh and clean installation and disabling internet access. Trying various anti-virus and firewalls some kinda worked ok, and others just made the app stability even worse. And it's still a pretty bad resource hog, the dam thing uses a little over 1.5 gigs of ram to IDLE. It's a very bloated OS no where near as efficient as OSX or linux.
@musicmanvin1 Let me tell you why that is bullshit. Windows 7 uses as much ram as it needs, if you run a ram hungry program, Windows will use less ram. On a 1.5GB system I have, WIndows 7 uses about 300-500MB ram, where else on my 4GB system, it uses 1.1GB ram to run more efficently. If I open two starcraft 2's and some other applications that 'hog' memory, system memory usage will drop dramatically. It is not necessary to use an anti-virus for Windows(my opinion) Windows firewall will suffice.

Disabling the internet is not required, unless of course you pirate your applications which is your own fault. DirectX 11 has better performance than OpenGL. You don't need to clean out a Mac or Linux because you don't download shit, because there's no applications to download. Windows 7 defrags in the background.

Windows 7 system stability isn't a factor, Ubuntu's software center gives crapware plus there is no productivity in it, besides being forced to use limited feature and slower versions of their Windows/Mac counterparts. Virus Scans and registry cleaners aren't needed if you're not pirating programs. Download programs from legitimate resource solves those two issues. Windows 7 is faster a productivity applications than Mac(Photoshop etc)

I have done wine updates and linux updates before and it did not break my wine, or stop me from using software I have used. There is a few addons like winetricks that helps, and some other addons I found in ubuntu's software center. It is also different distrobution to distrobution. But atleast there is something, if something is not compatible for mac then your screwed

Yeah Mac OS is better. That's why a laptop thief can boot your password protected Macbook, hold Apple Key+S, memorize 3 commands, and steal all your passwords and data.
@technobeats My point is, Windows doesn't have it's own "self destruct" key. If someone wanted to steal your information or whatever, they would have to use an external tool, like a Linux CD or a hack tool to do it. With Mac OS, the ability to screw up everything is built right into the boot process.
And not to mention, if the Windows machine has a BIOS password and has booting from external media and CD's turned off...your method fails.

However, serious consideration at adopting it involves looking at my installed applications and realising that there is no viable Mac equivalent for most of the tools I use.
If I am going to spend most of my time Bootcamping or Paralleling anyway, it makes moving over to Mac an expensive waste of time.

@TearsOfWar1 you should try them, the thing I like about them is that they don't show lag, that's what i really enjoy about them, they never show lag, if they're lagging, they show they're perfectly fine, they just show they're busy, and one thing also i like is that if an application crashes or is having a problem loading, it isolates it and that app is treated differently, and the rest of the computer, every-other app works just like nothing's happening, "it keeps its cool" XD

Macs commercials point out all the flaws of Windows that only happen when the user is as technically proficient as a rock. Furthermore, they don't say anything about their OS. Therefore, Mac commercials are not better.

I've never had any problem with Windows, and I honestly don't see how Windows could be the cause of all the problems. If your computer requires frequent restarting, it's probably got something to do with your RAM. If you have viruses, it's your fault. The OS is innocent.

1) Win7 does suck : / I've used Windows, OSX and Ubuntu for leisure and work. The ONLY way I can get win7 to run reliably with my 3D apps is if it's on a very fresh and clean installation and disabling internet access. Trying various anti-virus and firewalls some kinda worked ok, and others just made the app stability even worse. And it's still a pretty bad resource hog, the dam thing uses a little over 1.5 gigs of ram to IDLE. It's a very bloated OS no where near as efficient as OSX or linux.

@musicmanvin1 Let me tell you why that is bullshit. Windows 7 uses as much ram as it needs, if you run a ram hungry program, Windows will use less ram. On a 1.5GB system I have, WIndows 7 uses about 300-500MB ram, where else on my 4GB system, it uses 1.1GB ram to run more efficently. If I open two starcraft 2's and some other applications that 'hog' memory, system memory usage will drop dramatically. It is not necessary to use an anti-virus for Windows(my opinion) Windows firewall will suffice.

Disabling the internet is not required, unless of course you pirate your applications which is your own fault. DirectX 11 has better performance than OpenGL. You don't need to clean out a Mac or Linux because you don't download shit, because there's no applications to download. Windows 7 defrags in the background.

Windows 7 system stability isn't a factor, Ubuntu's software center gives crapware plus there is no productivity in it, besides being forced to use limited feature and slower versions of their Windows/Mac counterparts. Virus Scans and registry cleaners aren't needed if you're not pirating programs. Download programs from legitimate resource solves those two issues. Windows 7 is faster a productivity applications than Mac(Photoshop etc)

I have done wine updates and linux updates before and it did not break my wine, or stop me from using software I have used. There is a few addons like winetricks that helps, and some other addons I found in ubuntu's software center. It is also different distrobution to distrobution. But atleast there is something, if something is not compatible for mac then your screwed

@technobeats My point is, Windows doesn't have it's own "self destruct" key. If someone wanted to steal your information or whatever, they would have to use an external tool, like a Linux CD or a hack tool to do it. With Mac OS, the ability to screw up everything is built right into the boot process.
And not to mention, if the Windows machine has a BIOS password and has booting from external media and CD's turned off...your method fails.

However, serious consideration at adopting it involves looking at my installed applications and realising that there is no viable Mac equivalent for most of the tools I use.
If I am going to spend most of my time Bootcamping or Paralleling anyway, it makes moving over to Mac an expensive waste of time.

I've had about 5 problems with XP, and 2 with 7! But I only have had 1 problem with Vista - The RSOD. But it didn't do anything to hurt the OS. MACS SUCK SO BAD

Macs commercials point out all the flaws of Windows that only happen when the user is as technically proficient as a rock. Furthermore, they don't say anything about their OS. Therefore, Mac commercials are not better.

I've never had any problem with Windows, and I honestly don't see how Windows could be the cause of all the problems. If your computer requires frequent restarting, it's probably got something to do with your RAM. If you have viruses, it's your fault. The OS is innocent.

its very simple really if ur the type of person that is retarded and lacks knowledge on technology and u only want a computer to surf the web and listening to music and ur okay with paying a ridiculous price , get a mac. If your the type of person that wants POWER you want a fast processor, and awesome video card, u have basic or extensive knowledge about tech, You want a run hardcore games and other programs that required GOOD Hardware at an affordable price, GET a pc.

Installed Win 7 on my daughters laptop. Its a buggy piece of shit!!! Hangs up all the time and It has yet to even shut down. It freezes! WTF! Windows sux ass!!! XP is the best version of Windows. I have a Macbook and will never go back to a PC unless its running Linux. Steve Balmer is a freaking failure and a loser.

Back in November last year Windows 7 alone passed the 5% marketshare which by itself is above the total marketshare of all Apple Mac OSx. Fact ... I am assuming that this video was suppose to have something useful in it. Because it didnt I posted that fact. You want to know why more Apple people are starting to run windows 7?
