  • last band anyone expected to be good? FUCK YOU geldolf or whatever the fuck your name is

  • The new generation singers is just about Justin Bieber look-a-like little singers. Please, I need another Freddie Mercury.

  • Lol oh bob....how the hell can you say Queen were not expected to steal the show....THEY WERE THE BLOODY SHOW. Queen had been rocking the world audiences for the last 10 years before that.

  • @Dbx125 yes queen was live aid, live aid without queen, is a big...flop

  • Blown away,still,love it.Queen rocked!!

  • is the old guy @ 2:10 john deacon ??

  • @MrSTEPHENCENTORRINO No, it's not John Deacon. The man featured at 2:10 is Paul Gambaccini, broadcaster and friend of Freddie's.

  • Best rock gig ever ... until 1991 Monster of Rock in Moscow - 1,5 milion peoples

  • Fredddie was the Ma!

  • 72,000 strong crowd : factor in inflation, internetlessness, and the fact that its the 1980s = 17,743,622,001

  • @Grizzly01 Don't be jealous, come & join us Beatle fans. You could either follow the greatest rock band ever or just be a fan of another group.

  • @vespasianlegx11 Don't get me wrong I fucking LOVE Queen. I've all their LPs, got books on them & a 93' guild Brian May red special guitar. Went to see Brian when he gave a lecture on his book & actually met him, shook his hand & all so Queen ranks pretty high up there in the list of good things. The Beatles however are in a class by themselves & no one can touch them even Queen have said this.

  • Nice video of the kink

  • '@ fairyfellermaster .you have to be joking the beatles are the most overated band in history queen are the best band ever .

  • So Freddie knew here he was HIV positive & still was so outstanding, totally amazing! I read he lived with the knowledge he was HIV positive for 7 years before his death.

  • @Zelinna12 if freddie dies in 1991, when he did Rock in Rio or Live aid was ill

  • Please God! Let me get back to the eighties!

Queen and Freddie just killed that day - and the whole world is witness to it!

  • damn i got goosebumps watching this

  • @zapkvr two things, first: the Beatles broke up in 1970 not 1972 so that'd be 4yrs not 6yrs. Second: you say the Beatles are nothing by today's standards. If by today's standards you mean all the shitty music around now? that's offensive to the Beatles. Especially when they're STILL regarded as not only the greatest rock band of all time but as the single greatest act in music/entertainment history. Need I say more...

  • @fairyfellermaster Boring, boring Beatles. Boring, boring Beatles fans. Can't stand either of the fuckers.

  • @zapkvr Actually no they didn't get booed the MC didn't want Queen onstage anymore so he told the audience he'd bring out a good old Aussie band. The audience said "hell no" they still wanted Queen. The MC insisted on the Aussie band & pushed them to the crowd by which point the people just acquiesced, but they didn't get booed offstage.

  • Queen's performance of Radio Gaga that day is undoubtedly the best moment in rock history. I feel like crying with joy every time I watch it. The world misses you Freddie

  • @progfan71 a little note.... is the best moment in MUSIC history, not only in the rock..there is only a bunch that could be near of this gig...the 3 tenors singing nessun dorma

  • These performance and so as their hits will immortalized them...for me, they are the best band ever.better than the Beatles!!

  • @talisayon23 Well the Beatles stopped performing live in 1966, six years before they broke up. The stones are still performing live after forty years. The Beatles were NOTHING by today's standards. NOTHING.

  • I have always like Queen, but there something really special about this performance..They sound so Awesome live, that takes real talent..

  • No, Bob, the band no one expected to come out of Live-Aid as being memorable were Boomtown Rats.

  • @nocalsteve: LOL! Snicker.

  • geldof is a tosser

  • Thumbs UP if you have ever seen Queen LIVE!!!

  • that was the time when you needed talent to be famous....

  • @matea2655

you still do and more "freddies" will come looking forward to it

  • @matea2655 it's still like that if you're ugly.

  • @matea2655 so so true, you actually needed talent back then to capture the world like that, which FM had in spades!

  • @matea2655 And the time wen gays where hidden and dint make for because of that, now u only make it because ur gay!

  • Freddie Mercury = euroria, sympathy, charisma, motivation, performance, music, voalist perfect showman

  • Legend. A legend that we have in front of our eyes

  • I think that the whole Live Aid and Live 8 ideas were incredibly naive, yet Queen were the miracle...the magic, that could make such ideas really work.

  • love the comment from bob geldof"hello the planet, its me, darlings"!freddie knew how good he,and queen were!this just proved it

  • the most amazing thing about this performance is that this is not a queen concert, yet look at the crowd!!never ever seen crowd participation quite like this before!most of the big stars, megastars etc, played live aid,but queen just blew the place apart with possibly the best live performance in history

  • When he says he didnt expect Queen to be the one to steal the show I thought to myself after seeing Queen in concert in the earlier days I would'nt have expected any other Band too when asked today what the best concert I had been to and i went to alot in the 70's my answer is QUEEN

  • RE: Movie I believe that they will have 2 use Freddies Voice. Just Like Tina Turner & Ray Charles- no one could come close 2 their sound.

I like Sacha 4 the Role. Height won't matter. Sacha is a good looking guy when he is'nt in Borat get up. Note: Comedy is actually harder than Drama. I think Sacha will take this opportunity to go for it!!! I always thought Freddie was 6 ft tall until I looked it up. His presence made him look taller on stage/tv etc.. Bigger than life - u know

  • this is how god would sound if he would be right here on earth

  • The day when Queen stole our hearts

  • Elvis and Freddie are the best of all time!!!! Queen is simply brilliant and freddie Mercury while appreciated and respected he still doesn't receive the credit he deserves. Love love love Freddie and Queen! Loved the hair bands of the 80's but Queen was the real deal who covered all genres, musicians. vocalists, writers, composers and producers all in one fantastic package. There will never ever be another Freddie Mercury or ElVIS Presley.

  • @announceramyhayes before i read your comment I thought Freddie was the gay elvis-with respect

  • @announceramyhayes Brilliant post, Freddie was by far & away the greatest rock frontman & singer of all time, I just got my parents to watch their Wembley concert which I got as a Christmas present & now my parents think Freddie Mercury is the greatest performer ever! lol

  • Damn straight - best live performance EVER! Freddie we miss you!!!! I know you're smiling down from heaven on all your "darlings" ... RIP the King of Rock

  • "...and, you know, we were a bloody good group". Understatement of the century Roger, the press might have hated you but the continued record sales and radio airplay say it all.

  • I really hope Sacha Baron Cohen(Bruno,Borat) does Freddie right in the movie..whenever it comes out

  • @bloodsling I think about that a lot, concerned that he wont do freddie justice.

  • @freddiesfan1 well I hope that those close to him have a say on how the role should be done,if he tries to make him like "Bruno" there better be someone to put a stop to it.

  • @bloodsling to even consider him is flawed...he's too tall....johnny depp in The Libertine looks surprisingly like a young long haired Freddie.

  • @MrSoulauctioneer guess so,but the movie is supposedly Queens early years right up to Live Aid,and Johnny Depp is pushing 50 years old now,and Sascha is almost 40..ideally they should comb Zanzibar looking for his 21-30 yr old doppleganger..but that might be too weird for people who knew Freddie and involved in the project. I haven't read if they were going to be singing or lip synching though,if they have to find someone who sounds exactly like Freddie this movie will never get made.

  • atomic voice personality charisma nobody else stood a fuckin chance

  • Freddie's voice is a one off, there will never be another one of these Wembley moments. May this memory live forever.

  • Shame on me..I missed it. Outstanding performance. !!!

  • show stolen right and clear. the greatest band ever!

  • awsome as always

  • There is no doubt who the Greatest Band of all Time is.

  • @62rockin Queen has the magic of very few groups that is pass through generatons, despte the death of the frontman, and yes Queen is of another dimension....Made In Heaven

  • Cant wait for the movie. hoping it protrays Freddie Mercury as an artist and performer and a good human being. queen changed music world wide and brought people together, they have two big hits played at top sports events, WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS, AND WE WILL ROCK YOU, and also many numerous cover versions covered by great artists.

  • 10 idiots......

  • it's not that hard at all to have people sing with you when they're already your fans and have payed to see you. :-) (thanks for upload.)

  • 10 shit people

  • Blessed Queen

  • as Roger said 'we were a bloody good group'

    amen to that!

  • It was nothing different than what they had done before, it's just that this time they were performing for fans of other bands. To us full on Queen fans it's just another normal performance in their arsenal.

  • @Kalabanano ha ha yeah! I think exactly the same, it´s just as good as Live At Wembley... the difference is the crowd who got shocked...

  • @Kalabanano true that. the "greatness" of Queen @ live aid is intangible too - they certainly didn't win over montreal '81 like this. the context of them being pariahs after sun city or "dinosaurs" to non-fans by '85, the "global" relevance they wrung out of Hammer To Fall, WATC in the context of the broadcast/venue/event nature. All this under 20". It's not easy:D plus the added context of who's got the leg up @ dawn of stadium rock-pop that's now since become de rigeur~

  • @Kalabanano also it's quite strange as soon as Bo Rhap starts, you feel an emotional vacuum being struck with the audience singing along. it might be combination of nerves and energy onstage felt by audience, more unusual because they didn't start @ high energy. it's a great display of how freddie can suddenly inject a strong emotionalism onto a cluttered, all purpose stage. maybe nostalgia for the song by '85 also helped to spark the sing along?

  • Queen are the best band of all time. No band could of done this live in the same way that Queen did.

  • This IS the perfect show.

    20 minutes Forever.

  • The greatest band ever walked on this earth are beatles man. The best band? It is a matter of opinion.

  • Listen up Good Geldorf!! LIVE Aid was Queen, take Queen out of the performers list and you would have been left with an average gig with average performances. Make no mistake, this gig was all about Queen. So stop playing down Queen's meteroric performance at Live Aid .......They conquered the world that memorable day and no one has ever been or will ever be close to Freddie's Majestic Performance.

  • Queen is so wonderful because of this one fact: No matter what kind of music you prefer, queen still sounds good, and they are a riot to watch live. There may be kings of pop, metal, rap, country, alternative, etc. But Queen just draws you in no matter who you are, they really cared about the audience, and worked at giving us what we loved!

Gid bless Queen, they were the band of the World!

  • In reviewing Live Aid in 2005, one critic wrote, "Those who compile lists of Great Rock Frontmen and award the top spots to Mick Jagger, Robert Plant, etc all are guilty of a terrible oversight. Freddie, as evidenced by his Dionysian Live Aid performance, was easily the most godlike of them all."

  • What does Taylor say at the 50 second mark? After "Of course we knew what we were doing really"...

  • @phlyingkow Wow, harsh! Everyone did contribute equally in the group, it's part of why they were so amazing, and of course, there's no denying Freddies magnificence! Roger has acknowledged it many times. Not sure where you're coming from. Queen was not simply Freddie, Queen was 4 unbelievably talented individuals, to say otherwise is to disrespect all of them. IMHO :)

  • This was the day Queen ruled the world.

  • @crtfyd Bollocks!!! You've got Geldof/Ure saying that their performance expected, which is a load of trash. Roger was responding with a plain statement of fact. He'd be lying if he said anything else.

  • Tribute to Freddie Mercury and Live Aid 1985

  • I love you Freddy

  • Yo Bob, Queen was classic 7 years before this concert!

  • @shire2005 And they got booed off the stage in Melbourne in 1974. What's your point?

  • So who was the poor guy/group to have time right after Queen?

  • Poor David Bowie followed Queen

  • queen stole the show

  • @plutao

& stole Queenlovers hearts 4 ever:)

  • @koronja yes forever, queen are a knd of healthy addiction (i start with 3 years old now 'm 31)

  • @plutao

Well I started a little bit later at 14,but i first heard of them at the age of 8,it was a night at the opera,my fav.by the way,now i am 33:)I'll love them till i f...die,sure of it:)))

  • @bijou201 Poor bastard!! Sorry for my language!!

  • @bijou201 sucks to be him! lol

  • Queen had steal the show and conquest the world,

  • There is no need to use superlatives for this band, they are the best the world has seen and will ever see.

  • Queen ARE the rock band over here in Europe. Everybody I know loves them. Tell me an other band that can top this.

  • Queen has made Live Aid truly worldwide

  • It's a real shame that "Rolling Stone Magazine" didn't take Queen seriously and don't include them in their 500 greatest of all time list...

What kind of specialized press is that???

  • Who gives a shit about what that shitty magazine thinks of Queen?

I don't need some assholes to tell me what is and what is not "the greatest".

Fuck the rolling stone magazine, Long Live Queen!

  • It was a goodbye to the old and worse generation of musicians, it wasn´t Freddy alone. The Who and many others of the old generation couldn´t stand the test.

  • freddie mercury THE GREATEST FRONTMAN THE WORLD HAS EVER SEEN BAR NONE!!!!!!!!!!!

  • whats the song at 1:30 ?

  • radio gaga

  • @TheatreMan777

    hammer to fall

    or

    radio ga ga

  • all great leadersused big body jesters

  • "We were a bloody good group".

No Roger, you were a FUCKING AWESOME group.

  • Why did they have so many artists? Queen and freddie had been enough.

    The best group ever!!

    RIP Freddie "farrokh Bulsara" Mercury!!!

  • it was a 24 hour show they couldnt have performed for 24 hours straight in 2 countries

  • The greatest band of the world...Bloody Genius!

  • even freddy where gay...

  • Speaking of Roger I've often watched the Live Aid performance and obviously, the first thing that comes to mind is Freddie. However, the second thing that comes to mind is Roger's superb drumming. There's a lot of really subtle drum fills and things like that. He didn't miss a beat.

  • And he provided some great backup vocals too! He's one of the best backing vocalists ever.

  • hello!!!!!!!!!!!! they performed for not just their audience and queen nailed it

  • actually we were a pretty good group// hit nail on head co,es to mind legends

  • its talent like that, that makes anything seem possible... too bad theres none around today

  • They are without doubt in my eyes the greatest band of all time

  • unfortunately i missed queen performing;

because i am only a teenager, but their music still lingers down to the roots of my generation...

im covering queen's music for my band's performance :-) here in philippines! yeah! long live queen!!

  • ^^ Incredible. And so many people!!!

  • geldof says no one expect queen to come out on top. I never expected anything other .If your a queen fan from the beginning, you already knew they were the greatest live band in the world and this just went to prove what true fans had known for years. i bet some thought shit we've missed the previous 14 years not me followed from start to end what an honor. miss you freddie in a big way

  • "... they are doing it... they are stealing the show..."

  • "Nuremburg Rallies with a band at it" - Classic

  • Funny thing is...I don't think Freddie was nervous at all...72,000 people at wembley and millions more watching at home? this gig was made for Freddie.

  • Listen up..........God decided to pick just a handful of people out of billions to put them on Earth with one sole purpose -- to entertain the masses with pure charisma and showmanship............Freddie Mercury was one of those people!

  • you nailed it

  • absolutly,.....well said

  • HELLO

  • Ez fejtetőn van:S!!

  • QUEEN WERE THE BEST THERE!!!!

  • Anyone who doesn't like Queen should be labeled as a blasphemer. That band--all four members--were able to captivate and capture crowds and put them in the palm of their hand.

All those so-called "bands" that we listen to today should be grateful that Queen was there to influence their styles. ;-D

  • "We were a bloody good group"

    Amen to that.

  • I mean Bohemian Rhapsody.

  • This song has some sort of magic in this. So creative and completely beyond perfection.

  • Unconventional and will never be topped as the greatest song of all time. Check out the Montreal Live vids in HD, the best performance of Bohemian Rhapsody of all time

  • go to hell morsaw1000

  • yeah, because you're age 14 probably ;)

  • He is, check his videos.

  • i total agree 20 the best performance ever!

  • Yeah, I agree.. totally boring.... I mean, who wants to see Freddie just capture the world in the palm of his hand, who wants to hear Briand and Roger and John just create great music.... yeah.. its boring, lets go listen to some other crap shall we, coz im sure that nothing will ever be as boring as this.......

  • then tell me what it is for you very intresting?

  • people who dont know when I am being sarcastic

  • *waves Queen flag*

  • Still brings a lump to the throat after all these years....amazing

  • "The last people everyone expected to be the most memorable were Queen--" That guy's quote was cut off! Who was the other 'people'? I guess it doesn't really matter. "Queen smoked 'em!"

  • There were two good things that happened in the mid 1980s. Freddie at the Live Aid concert in July 1985, and about a year later Diego Maradona and his Argentina lifting Copa del Mundo - the former an example of the greatest live rock concert and the latter example of the best World Cup to date. Thank you God for the 80s and may God rest Freddie's soul in peace.

  • i need help, someon could tell me if the guy whit purple t-shirt is jhon Deacon?

  • 1979 HS Graduate: Queen was and is the greatest Live band of all time. U2 is close with the Slane Castle performance. Maybe Pink Floyd..... You gotta have the "Live Voice"

And as you laugh John Denver also had the "Live Voice" Go home Mick

  • we were a bloody good group:))lol

  • Brian says..this was not a Queen audience.

Well I beg to differ lol Everyone in the

    world is a Queen audience!!

  • I remember this performance. I along with thousands of others stood transfixed. It was amazing. I got chills watching this performance, and I remember thinking...I'll never see this again. Thank heaven for You Tube and the internet.

  • Does anyone know what interview show this is from? I'd like to see the rest. Thanks!

  • It's from a show on the BBC called "The World's Greatest Rock Gigs". This performance by Queen was voted the greatest live gig in the history of rock and roll. And it was.

  • queen played in the London concert, Madonna preformed in the Philadelphia concert

  • What a great performance. Pity that Live Aid didn't make things better in Africa, actually made things worse with all that free food coming in pushing the few remaining viable African farmers out of the market.

  • we were a bloody good group!!!!never a true word said.

  • who followed them on stage ?

  • I think it was the Who... Poor bastards....lol

  • David Bowie, I think. Wikipedia has a page on it.

  • amazing...
