  • God, I miss talk shows where people talk like intelligent adults.

  • Cavett looks like a nazi youth child. Mel like a typical Russian "Jew". Most hollywood Jews (As Geddy Lee a great rock musician/ Atheist) said "I don't believe in God, I just love to bathe in the glory of Jewness" (Look it up if you dont believe me). But Mel is fairly funny. His movies are classics. And he help destroy anything of morals. The evangelical types bitch about how there are no morals in hollywood but help build the state of Israel to help bring Christ back. Strange world.

  • @xtrmsprts: That "tanned baldie" is Frank Freakin' Capra. Look him up since you seem to know nothing about him. He can speak of Harry Cohn accurately because he actually made movies with him. He is not suggesting that we could use "several Harry Cohns" working all at one studio together. He means several Cohn types running studios on their own instead of the movie-by-committee system that we have right now. Get it? He's being completely logical. And he's right.

  • I think Peter Bogdanovich is a great director and filmmaker! The Last Picture Show, Whars Up Doc?, Paper Moon, At Long Last Love, They All Laughed, Nickelodeon, all amazing movies, among my favourites (: Thank you for the video!

  • just saw Targets. that was awesome.

  • "use SEVERAL harry cohns right now" lol!!! they would tear eachother apart after nullifying each person's dictatorial powers. the point of a monarch is he has absolute power... this tanned baldie obviously is senile, he's grandiosely talking about films and harry colon without an iota of logic. the way he talks about one person could say yes and it was done reminds me of a certain german dictator.

  • I Love Peter! (2)

  • 7:29 Who's that clown, Robert Altman and Peter Bogdanovich was talking about? Does anybody know? And Robert Altman said a name that I can't understand? He spoke too fast. What's that name? Who's this guy?

  • @rtms1988: Altman names Jim Aubrey, a TV and film exec who succeeded by playing to the lowest common denominator and was notoriously arrogant. I can't hear the other name, thanks due to the infamous boom mike operator for the Cavett show.

  • @YouzTube99 Thanks! =D Helped me a lot! I'll search for this guy!

  • @zzap999 What? Your comment has nothing to do with this video. Or even Dorothy who was killed by a monster, there's nothing to do with "Mother Nature". I think you mistaken the video.

  • I love Peter!

  • Altman would be referring to Kirk Kerkorian taking over MGM and James T. Aubry running it into the ground.

  • the blockbuster mentality took over

  • MASK was great.

  • John Simon is a horrible HORRIBLE human being who knows nothing about theater or film. He once called Wallace Shawn unsightly and once wrote this whole spiel about Barbra Streisand's nose. And he has been quoted as saying some really terrible and homophobic things. Just look 'em up.

  • John Simon is 50 times the artist Bogdanovich could hope to be. Peter B. made his living slavishly copying the films of other directors. What a hack! John Simon's criticism, on the other hand is cogent, sharp, very funny.

  • people we are all competitors thats hollywood for ya and about Bogdanovich I think he's matured in the 2000's era rather then in the 70's. its nice to see filmmakers in this clip expressing their frustration with the Hollywood system which still haunts imo many filmmakers today.

  • Great video. This is I call a "bitches about", you know, Bogdanovich smash this guy... well, I don't know even who's that guy... Who's John Simon?! I really don't know. I've never heard about him.

And about Robert Altman... ooh booy, what is this ending of this video?? Bogdanovich cliped the Altman's wings. Talking about Jackiescanlon said, I think that anyone in that time really liked each other (I can be wrong, I don't mind it).

  • What I don't like about Bogdanovich is he's quick to criticize other peoples movies. Carol Reed's OLIVER! for example. He said it wasn't a film critics liked. Speak for yourself Bogdnanovich. Critics loved OLIVER! Even hardcore ones like Paulene Kael and John Simon raved about it. What musical did you direct Bogdanovich? AT LONG LAST LOVE?

  • Peter Bogdanovich was not that good of a director. His films deserve criticism.

  • The Last Picture Show. What's Up Doc? Paper Moon. They All Laughed. Noises Off.

He's spot on about Simon: a pompous film-illiterate poop.

  • Great video, love the guests and the overhead mics crashing around!

  • Looks like all these guys are wrong...Hollywood is at its lowest ebb in creativity as we speak. Remakes, sequels, CGI laden crap. People who dress in business suits everyday have no business making creative or artistic decisions. But guess what? That's what we have running the show out in Hollywoodland.

  • @romanholiday1988 Do you deny good films are still made? There's always been more crap than good in movie history (not just Hollywood). Committees of writers churning out 50 movies a year is nothing new. Maybe we only think it's worse because we're part of this time now; maybe we'll look back and call these the good ol' days of Cameron and Columbus.

  • Great video!!! Although I hear that Bogdanovich and Altman hated each other according to the book 'Easy Riders, Raging Bulls'.
