  • Something we must consider in our prepping. I believe this "crisis" is manufactured. If indeed we do go SHTF, WORL one thing is sure we still have loads of natural resources that other nations, China, Russia, N.Korea, South American MARXIST states, etc would love to have.

Their military does not need money, they have enough rations/ammo to do the job.

Check out the Weather movement's agenda (Billy Ayers). Just saying it may get quite testy.

    Red Dawn-ish.

    Stay warm and dry.

  • Great video on issues that people don't really think about much. One question that I receive on my prepper forum is what would you recommend for preppers to do that take life dependent medications? For example transplant medicines, diabetes, epi pens, etc? Pharmacies only give you a certain amount of supply for the months (sometimes up to 3 months). Thanks for the GREAT video, stop by our forum sometime and continue on making wonderful videos! perpperlog com

  • Here are a few ideas I have been telling people. Plant all the fruit trees you can now, every where. Know where all the wells are in you whole area. Have a means to defend yourself. A bb gun to hunt small game, Bow/crossbow to hunt larger. down load the LDS PREPAREDNESS GUIDE PDF. It is 224 pages of free survival info. Have a group. The are videos like AFTER ARMAGEDDON or YOUTUBE videos to gather as much data as possible. Canned beans, chili, tuna, and vitamins. Dont forget plastic plates!

  • When we were in the path of and nearly surround by wildfires the only timely help and information we were getting was from a tiny local radio station and after that I realized how important it was to support the most local of resources.

  • great video thanks ,

  • Given that I was born and raised in the harshest environment on the planet...without water, power, sewer, telephone, road. You sound a bit fluffy to me. I don't need to stockpile. I have knowledge. Bottom line is people live in dumb reality shows and have NO connection to their real environment. From far north B.C. Canada. When push comes to shove I will make it.

  • @oilpatchgirl - Awesome. Thanks for your input. I have received many criticisms in the past . . . however you are the first to call me fluffy. Not sure what that means but I am sure it is not a compliment from the Great White North. Be safe and stay warm ;-)

  • By the way, you essentially made my point which was "knowledge is power". Now, your job is to share and educate which I am sure you are doing in your own constructive way.

  • @USNERDOC dont listen to that dick, not all of us canadians are like this goof,i'm up in b.c as well and when shit hits the fan hunting isnt going to be as easy as douche up there thinks when cold weather comes not to mention you have to go out to get shit and you dont always make a kill and clean water wont be easily come by he'll have to boil it which means need fire everytime,, hes retarded lol,you need shelter and food storage, could be nuclear fallout.

  • @oilpatchgirl haha... funny how all of you trolls are so self reliant and perfect.

  • @Bushcraft412 I am not a troll. My dad was a goldpanner and had a trapline. I have grown up in the wilderness. I went to school in a one-room school with grades 1-8.....in one room. I know you guys.....I never lived the life you have. I have always lived in the bush and you guys were always rich.....

  • @oilpatchgirl no... making negative comments and flaunting how much better you are than people is exactly what a troll does. People watch these videos to learn. If you already know the stuff why bother to leave negative comments. If you can demonstrate better than make your own videos and don't knock other peoples hard work. Not everyone on youtube had your upbringing, and this is one of the only forums where they can learn for free and be part of a community.

  • @oilpatchgirl You never lived someone else's life but you know them? Better check your premises.

  • @oilpatchgirl Cool. no one cares :)

  • @oilpatchgirl Stockpiles are really wanted, why risk your life scavenging

  • Great info thanks so much for sharing.

  • I really like your vids here. I do not have a big stash, as until recent years I just hadn't thought about it. One thing the preppers don't talk about though is people really need to learn how to sharpen a blade properly. You can do it: I am completely blind and I can sharpen any blade even using a butcher's steel if I need to. But many people just don't know how to do it at all.

I also think the best thing people can acquire is skills: am learning as much as I can on how to do different th

  • Interesting

  • I am really surprised to hear people are watching your very good vid's and others like them and still don't see a point in prepping? I suppose that "those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it"....as the saying goes. Another great vid from a fellow NWesterner. Keep up the good work and great vids. Most of us appreciate them. =)

    ~mamaprepper~

  • @mamaprepper5 they have to take the kids to disney world and spend there prepping money

  • USNERDOC, Michigan prepper here, (since before Y2K). I don't post videos but I watch and read everyday. Been looking for one or two to keep watching out of the many. Good info and delivery.

  • Done Well.

I recently learned that the Sun will go Super Nova in about 4-5 Billion years, and it will cause human extinction.

I have since learned the Moon is receding at a rate of 4cm a year, and it will cause human extinction in about 100k years.

An unknown asteroid nicknamed "Nemisis" will come out of nowhere, and it will cause human extinction.

    Volcanoes, quakes?

By now you see a trend, that we have more immediate threats to prepare for that we can take control of and help us to survive.

  • PacNW here too...Well Done Vid!!! Keep them Up... =)

  • EVERYBODY DONT PANIC. But althou.. be prepared i eman..You not paranoic...

    Ppl take life ensurence everytime...

    so..idk

You all be safe Lets hope for nothing to hapend in 2012 but be prepared just in case.

  • well structured speech.

  • Does it make sense to prep for a hurricane or is this video's comments full of people hyped up on their ego and red bull preparing for the zombie apocalypse

  • @MrTurquoiseturtle - It absolutely makes sense to prep for a hurricane. That is the whole point of my video. The actual event one preps for is unknown, however, we all are at risk for local / regional / environmental events that can be identified and taken into account for a given plan. Ultimately, that kind of thinking is what will put you ahead of the game.

  • @MrTurquoiseturtle I'm prepping for the Zombie Government Apocalypse. Trucker strikes, trains,no food on shelves I do it for insurance so my family is safe. I stay prepared for hurricanes that is easy long term is hard.

  • Preppers of Spain Europe prepper.es

  • @beepbeepboing... To answer your question below most preppers on youtube are prepping for natural and manmade disasters there are a few who are more paranoid about social and economic collapse. This year we had an above average natural disaster year in the U.S. we had tornadoes in Missouri and Alabama hitting major towns, Hurricanes on the East Coast, Earthquake in D.C., Wildfires in Oregon and other parts of the country just to name a few. It is good to be self-reliant for these situations.

  • I have a Radio Base station and enough radios for the family too! CB Radios:)

  • what are you preparing for ?

  • @BeepBeepBoing - general preparedness for self-relience . . . i.e. to be part of the solution and not a part of the problem. Hope that makes sense.

  • @USNERDOC No it makes no sense at all, if you were to say that you anticipated a WW3 scenario, then I could kind of understand it, although that would be futile to prepare for. I have seen alot of these videos and I still dont get what it is you are all expecting, some talk of zombie invasions ( oh dear) others talk of WW3, but with no indication of when. Others speak of socio and economic collapse, which is also highly unlikely. Yous speak of being part of the solution... to what ?

  • @BeepBeepBoing Remember Katrina.

  • @chbtrucker well filling ya cellar with food that gets flooded would be a bit pointless eh !

  • @BeepBeepBoing Actually if that food is sealed bagged or canned it would stay fine wouldn't it eh? Being prepared for anything from a power outage to the end of days is just a good thing eh? You ever hear of the expression, better safe than sorry? Eh?

  • good video brother, i loved the end. i have that same problem.

  • I own many thing's a vehicle which contains a package in my trunk in the package there is a first aid kit with anti biotics that will help me in scenerios a vhf/dsc radio a flashlight that is water proof spare batteries utility knife and a hack knife portable sleeping bag I own a Trailer and I have a simular package in that and also a boat with the same kind of gear it is good to carry a knife for your own self defence and to help you untangle yourself or to pass through bush

  • Just bought a piece of land, and starting to work to prep the area for a WROL, SHTF, NBC attack. I'm glad there are many people here on youtube helping people like myself prepare for such situations. I sincerely thank you for your service which will one day mean the difference between life or death.

  • It's Greenville, no s.

  • @itubenowplease what do you mean your waiting is about to pay off......

  • @guildwarior6 ...Well I'm assuming economic collapse, I'm afraid the USD has a few years of life in it along with the Euro and other like economies.

  • Can I just ask what model of CB radio you use? I am thinking of getting one so I would appreciate your input.

  • INFOWARS.COM

  • I'm not sure why but I noticed that youtube keeps dropping subscribers. I wondered why I hadn't seen any of your vids but youtube dropped you & lots of others from my sub list.

Good stuff but check your sub list.

    :)

  • Keep up the great contribution you give to us You Tubers!

    Thanks!

  • dont bother with college, college debt is the next HUGH bubble to burst.....Ur daughter would be way ahead working at a local store...

  • Great video you know sometimes the most basic things are what save your life.

  • Great vid ! It's been added to the Resource Playlist on The Tactical Forum!

  • Great video and insight! Thanks for the effort and time you put into your YouTube channel I thoroughly appreciate your advice and perspective.

  • @itubenowplease - Thanks for your input. Perhaps you could share your preparations with others so we can all learn from you.

  • great stuff ! very glad to see another channel that isn't geared towards just firearms stuff ( although it is pretty cool stuff )

  • A problem with a "people you trust" approach is keeping a sense of 'law and order' will require a one leader process. Democracy will not work when people are hungry, scared, desperate, etc., nothing will get done. Human nature is to survive and when it comes down to your kids eating vs. another man's kids eating he'll do what he can to keep his kids alive PERIOD! We all cooperate now because laws keep us honest. There are consequences to bad behavior. Not the case in SHTF scenario.

  • @rlmarin1968 in wrol...the consequences for bad behavior will in all likelyhood be worse for the offender than with rule of law...but as you pointed out ppl will be more likely to behave badly

  • @brotherscoobs: Don't get me wrong, I think your idea is a good one. Having ppl around you can trust makes defending youselves easier. The problem is figuring out who those people are and establishing a leadership hierarchy that will be agreeable. The one person I know I can trust doesn't buy into the "be prepared" philosophy at all. That makes things harder cuz I know they'll be at my door if SHTF ever happens...and without food and water.

  • @rlmarin1968 I don't disagree...i am fortunate i guess...i live in a military community..there is already a "chain of command" so to speak , so there will be areas of responsibility...ex. I will be in charge of maintaining anything mechanical or electrical ( i do it for a living now ) i can and do grow some of my own food and just about everyone around me hunts... most of my friends are prepared on one level or another and there's a large range of skill sets available to draw from

  • why did you not include a firearm?

  • @1TacticalMedic - good question . . . this video response was to answer a specific question of things you might not have thought of to include in a preparation plan . . . food, water, heat, shelter and firearms have been covered in the past. Hope that helps!

  • Fun stuff. Here's a tip for viewers- Where There is No Doctor and Where There is No Dentist are available for download online for free on the Hesperian Foundation website, along with some other interesting material to look at. Probably a good idea to throw them a couple dollars thank you if you can make use of it.

  • Great vid Doc! Always informative and great perspective. Keep up the good work!

  • Doc, have you read the book "Ditch Medicine" by Hugh L Coffee? It has some pretty good emergency medical procedures. Are there any other medicine books that you'd recommend for the lay person?

  • Doc, Always a well thought out concise presentation . I too follow the You-tube channels you recommend, finding them helpful- although the food quantity, storage and cost for a family of limited means is overwhelming. Would love to see you put together a "Poor mans," food prep guide as you did here which outlines perhaps what you have put together for your family or network. Thanks again for the great videos

  • Good suggestions all of them, David.

  • Hey Doc,

What is the the model of the hand-held HAM radio you have on the table?

Thanks again for another great video!

  • @taeyedoc99 - Yaesu VX8-R . . . A versatile ultra compact radio with Bluetooth Hands-Free Operation, GPS/APRS and Dual Wideband Receive . . . rugged design for outdoor operations . . . submersible and shockproof.

  • Comment removed

  • @taeyedoc99 - Thank you sir!

  • @USNERDOC - how do you like the Yaesu VX8-R so far?

  • @taeyedoc99 - It is a great little radio. I like its compact size and rugged construction. I use it quite a bit . . . never without it. The VX8-R is the foundation of my radio Go-Bag. I use it with multiple antenna set ups with great success.

  • @USNERDOC

Shock-resistant; there are shocks that will completely disable -- or even destroy -- a VX-8R or anything else. Trust me; nothing is shock"proof".

  • @EdWatts - Thank you for your input!

  • @USNERDOC

    You're welcome. Good presentation.

  • @USNERDOC - Thank you again Doc. Just trying to get into HAM (just ordered my first book about HAM radio). And having fun finding more about HAM already. Would you mind if I ask if you ever have any worry about Yaesu VX8 using a not too common rechargeable battery vs radio that might operate with typical AA or AAA? And aside from the portable Yaesue VX8-R, do you recommend any model of HAM for stationary/ the base? Thank you. As always, appreciate it.

  • Great stuff - thanks for tagging me and posting my video response.

    Keep up the great workk.

    Rourke

  • Excellent , Thank you.

  • Excellent Channel Choices Sir!

  • Excellent! I still enjoy learning from your insights on preparation, self defense-- and even now, radio! 73 AI4QT

  • Thank you! I appreciate the effort and information.

  • Good stuff! Thanks for sharing. Keep up the great work and keep sharing the knowledge!!!

  • with out rule of law....i could go mining wherever i wanted!!

  • Great video Doc! What an excellent idea. Preparedness is a hot topic these days and a I hope many that watch these video will get some kind of inspired to get their family and friends prepared before the next big even takes place without warning!

    73's,

    Jeff KE7OUR

  • Great Video !!! Thank you

  • Great vid as always. Looking forward to more ham radio vids. =)

  • No power, water, heat, cell phones, Whats my plan? Heck that sounds like an excellent training opportunity for me :) Pop on the solar backup power, plug in the ham rigs to backup power, turn on the portable buddy heaters as well as the fireplace that burns wood, grab a bottle of water from storage, and sit back :) Good video.. many people have no idea what to do once things get strange.

  • great video Doc. Very well though out and I think that your 5 points are very beneficial to a worst case event. Thanks for sharing and stay safe up there.

  • Really good video!

  • @ 1:31, tag to Nutnfancy ;)

  • Great video. Thanks so much.

  • More great insight, another awesome video

  • I am always impressed by your solid, logical approach to planning. Great video (yet again).

  • that is probably the closest response I have seen to my top 5. Excellent vid, DOC.

  • Great work as usual Doc. THANKS!

  • P.S. Doc just as a side note, as resident of the county . It is Greenville without the s , not Greensville. No big deal. And glad to here the shout to the local upstate SC guys. Thanks a bunch.

  • Doc who is the author of the making of tools book you had out ? Been looking for a book along those lines.

  • Glad to see a Doc in the prepping community. Love the thorough videos. Thank you

  • thanks for the tips, keep mup these good vids

  • good stuff , Doc !

  • Great video and views. Brother, I'm not calling you old by any means but every time I watch a video of yours, I feel like my dad is teaching me something...haha! This is a good thing and I mean it with the greatest of respect. Go Navy!

  • USNERDOC top notch presentation of some realistic points! I knew from speaking with you on several occasions that this topic was important to you & all us that follow your channel have benefited again in this discussion.

So true about the "lone wolf" mentality being a false or failing plan. Also, I'm glad you touched on doing this over the course of months to years. It makes it a more doable project & will give each person more self reliance.

Thank you for all that you do.

  • Always a pleasure DOC Thanks for the heads up on wranglerstar/barn I thought he had left for good.

  • Another great video. Lots of great info and made me think about communications in my family. My wife drives about 40 miles each way to work and she often takes different routes to get there. If cell phones did not work I have no idea how I would get ahold of her. This has motivated me to get prepared.

  • Great video Doc! Thanks!

  • nice video I like your hardwood floor btw its a unique color

  • Great thoughts! TNX!

PDX drivers and snow don't mix well.

  • Excellent information!

  • @ristin59 another good book is called The Hopi Survival Kit by Thomas E. Mails

  • Thank you so much for such kind words. I will try and respond on the 5 things shortly. I am trying to get my videos up from the meeting with little success. Thanks for what you are doing out there in the west coast.... the east coast community thanks you too. you should get a meeting going too.....keep up the good work!!

  • @eastcoastpatriot - Many thanks sir! I know you are busy and don't expect a response video . . . just wanted to draw attention to what you guys are doing. I know you are busy! Thanks for all the hard work.

  • Great points, Doc! These are important considerations. Tools are good, but they're only of use when you've got a way to apply them and the direction for long-term contingencies.

  • oh change that it's dumping snow now

  • Eugene got a sprinkle of snow

  • @LivingHistorySchool - we did as well, bit more than a sprinkle . . . 1-1/2 - 2 inches.

  • @LivingHistorySchool Over 3' here in the Darrington....gotta love the Cascades! lol

  • A+ like always! Thanks for sharing.

  • you mean nutnfancy right? lol

  • Excellent advice, thank you, Sir.

  • As always, superb!

  • This all sounds great but there are no jobs to be had and we have no money, hell we only get by.

  • @maltieskitten Brother or sister, if you are near Charlotte NC, send me a private message.

  • As always Doc intelligent, insightful and well thought-out.Great video and love your editing. Thanks

  • There is one company that deals with cable TV telephone and Internet when trouble hits it is the job of one person who is responsible to make sure your neighborhood has those three ways of communication This company also runs the Local News paper and News TV station. you have great points of interest i do not have much of those

  • good stuff, smart ideas. love the outtakes, I think we'll have to have our own PNW gathering of sorts

  • LOL @ the end of the video Mr. President... :)

  • Fantastic vid, cheers Doc!

  • Every winter, I gleefully anticipate power outages. Every year since we've been here - 2005, we've lost power from 1 to 4 days at a time. The nice thing about power outages is that I cannot work, and it's truly vacation time for me. A few years ago, we were hauling 5 gallon buckets from a creek for flushing the toilets. This year, we have kerosene space heaters. No power needed. Lots of radios, broadcast and FRS. It's *fun* to lose power.

  • Once again, good job Doc.

  • Hey doc im curious as to what your FAK was contained in. Is that a Blackhawk medic roll? thanks

    ~fireboytj

    aspiring paramedic

  • @fireboytj - Group FAK is in a Blackhawk Medic Roll.

  • Great video. Knowledge is power. As the saying goes, chance favors the prepared. I have been 'prepping' for a few years now and am now faced with a decision in regards to location. Would like your input on this touchy subject.>>watch?v=H9H4OuhuuWE
