  • What surprises me is that 75% of those who watched Part 1 didn't watch Part 2. How can your mind be at peace listening to most of the Poeme but not the end.

  • Du très beau violon, mais je réintègre la réalité:Je viens de quitter la dimension Heifetz..!

  • Thank you so much for sharing!

  • This performance, at once so lovely and intimate, touched with melancholy, is the best Poeme I ever heard. This is most definitely not the more extroverted recording he made with Charles Munch; please tell us the identity of the orchestra and conductor here.

  • This artist, as well as the composer, both serve as a reminder of how untalented I really am. "We" are so fortunate to have them.

  • We are fortunate because they inspire us to become greater than we are. Listen to the great masters and then play even more!

  • "Poeme" is a great favourite of mine, and Oistrakh is also tops. I've got six DVDs of Oistrakh that I plan to view soon. Great source of inspiration! Thanks aimson for the opportunity to hear this version by a great player.

  • What orchestra is this?

  • Thanks so very much for this. I needed to listen to it just now. It saved my day! It's such a beautiful piece, with such a consistently great performance.

  • His playing is exquisite, but Heifetz plays with more passion and intensity. The English choreographer Antony Tudor used this piece for his ballet Lilac Garden (on YT) also called Jardin aux Lilas. And the more passionate interpretation fits the ballet better.

  • Heifetz's is way too frantic and nervous sounding... I prefer Oistrakh's more relaxed and flowing approach

  • His playing is exq

  • How beautiful! This performance has Northern nostalgic feeling to it, and at times sounds as if was written by Tchaikovsky or Grieg. Priceless!

  • i agree.

  • I like to think i'm a bit connected to Oistrakh, my teacher was thought by David's son. Oistrakh is one of the greatest if not the greatest violinist of all times.

  • Aimson , I too have to thank you for this upload . It has been a long day and this piece was so beautiful to hear at the end of the day . Glorious !

    Am

  • heifetz is good, oistrakh is god :)

  • i totally agree.. i used 2 think heifetz was the best but now that i hear oistrakh... i can't say anything..:)

  • i like heifetz's interpretation of this better than oistrakhs, but still very beautiful

  • Yeah, that's exactly what I thought :) But Enesco's is still my favorite, I enjoy it much more than even Heifetz' recording.

  • does anyone know where can i find the 4th symphony of Tchaikovsky?thank you........great recording,it helped me a lot, because i am playing it now,and i better understood it since i heard it with Oistrakh.

  • Totally agree.

  • I agree.

  • Great is the understatement of the year. Certainly the best of the recording era. (Please don't tell me about Menuhin, Stern, Heifitz, or the lesser lights.) If you think Joshua Bell or any of the rest of the modern era can play like this it's time to go to Tower Online and pick up some Oistrakh from the 1940s.

  • @gerryrains

    Can't stand Bell, real jerk.

  • great vioiin player

  • Thanks aimson. I was unfamiliar with this piece and greatly enjoyed it.

  • First one to rate! whooo!
