  • Great video!

  • You sir are awesome!

  • Nice stuff man, great to see the collection growing! I think Fantasia is the only Disney game for the Gen that I haven't played, I will check it out!

  • If you pick up shining force 2 on pal it won't play on the jap md for some reason even though its one of the older title. SO make sure you have a pal mega drive knocking around.

  • Cheers Dave. Think in the future I'll be getting a PAL MD and Mega CD. Dont want to mod my consoles and would rather have them separate :)

  • And the original shining force doesn't work either even though its not a (blue cover) later release.

  • High Seas Havoc is a very underrated gem on the system. Great pickups as always!

  • Thanks, I'm looking forward to playing it and seeing what its like- it definitely looks fun :)

  • Awesome additions. High Seas Havoc looks fun. I have that one.. haven't played it... off to do just that!

  • I'll probs be doing the same tonight! Cheers :)

  • Nice pickups mate, nice condition as always. :)

  • Cheers mate, condition was pretty good overall :)

  • I picked up the PAL version of Capitan Lang (Called Havoc here) a while back having never heard of it. It's a blatant Sonic clone, but a good one mind.

Wow, Fantasia is one of those rare games where the PAL cover was actually better.

  • I agree on the Fantasia cover, the PAL version is definitely better. A rare event indeed!

  • 123 mint Jap games is a great thing mate wow cool.

Keep it up mate... wish I had a shout from the Happy Console Gamer nice ;o)

    Cheers!

  • Cheers bud, it was a nice surprise to see Johnny mention my channel! :)

  • Great video

  • Oh, Captain Havoc...

Yeah, I own this as High Seas Havoc, with a really, really, really rare cover.

    Kickass game!!! =D

  • Excellent additions!

Also gotta love the Sonic Dance CD, I got the single versions of Mario Land and Sonic - people would remix anything back in the day :p

  • nice one ian, by the way im sure i spotted you walking along clayton st last week wolfing a sarnie down :)

  • Sounds possible lol. :-)

  • yeah i watched johnny's vid and saw you you mentioned and was like 'yeah he's gonna get a few new subs lol' you've got a good channel with a really intriguing premise and goal so people just need to know about the cool channels

and by how you introduced it..of course I wanna see captain lang :)

  • Cheers mate, prior to Johnny's vid I had 771 subs and now it's 900- the power of a shout-out lol.

Quite a few people asking about Captain Lang so might have to make that my next mini review video :)

  • well i tend to think that merely being shouted out isn't what gets people to sub...i think it also has to do with a quality channel ;)

  • I agree- the shout-out takes people to the channel; it's the content /presentation that keeps them there IMO :)

  • Still going for it mate, its a long road.. :)

  • I'm planning on getting High Seas Havoc at some point myself. It looks like a pretty good little platformer game.

  • Havent played it yet but looking forward to, looks good fun :)

  • Great pickups Ian. I know you already have Ryouko no Ken and as soon as I heard you say Neo Geo, King of the Monsters came to mind. You'll have a blast giving that a go with your brother, it's good cheesy fun. Congrats on all the new subs too, you'll be at 1000+ in no time!

  • Thanks, looking forward to playing it my my bro, like you say- good cheesy fun!

  • Nice one Ian - the Bioshock 2 game completely threw me as I didn't even know it had been released. Clearly i've been too absorbed in my work to take stock of what's going on in the real world! lol

  • Played it last night, great game! :)

  • Congrats on the shoutout from HCG! :) Have you tried just putting a manual between a couple of heavy books to straighten them out?

  • Thanks, gonna try to "iron" them out maybe like someone's mentioned :)

  • Some excellent new additions to the ol collection there Ian and at the prices you got them for, steal of a deal!

  • Cheers bud :)

  • Have you tried ironing out the bends in the manuals? Haven´t tried it myself, but it could save you the time trying to find replacements for some of them.

  • Good point mate, I'll give that a try sometime! :)

  • hey mate, as a new subscriber to your channel i was just wondering as i havnt got the chance to look at all your videos yet what made you start collecting the japanese versions of the games instead of the pal ones?

Looking forward to the next video. :)

  • Well it was mainly due to 2 reasons: I always loved them as a kid as they felt "exotic" but only had a few as most of my games were PAL and also because the artwork on a lot of them is superb! :)

  • some nice additions there as always mate , especially fantasia my friend says its a great game

  • Not as good as Castle of Illusion etc... but still worth getting :)

  • King of the Monsters :D Awesome! I love that game!

Some seriously nice pickups Ian :)

  • Cant wait to play it mate- 2 player with my bro should be a laugh! :)

  • some very nice pickups there mate. I have to admit i didn't know that fantasia came out on the mega drive so would appreciate a video to see how it plays.

Shining force 2 looks pretty as well as captain lang at the end.

  • Ta bud, I'll do a video for Fantasia at some point, got a fair few that people want to see. Oh to have more time... :)

  • Ahh Fantasia. I really wanted to like that game, but going from Castle of Illusion to that was a little bit of a let down for me. I liked the music and graphics, but the control just wasn't tight IMO.

  • Yeah same feeling here mate,..

  • Glad to have you back, Ian.

King of the Monsters is FUN. Not as graphically impressive as the Neo Geo, but the game play is still there.

    Beware...

Do not play it with 6 Button controllers. The game won't even start if the six buttons are plugged in.

    Very odd glitch.

  • Cheers mate, thanks for the tip. I would have played it with my 6 button pad normally so that saves me the worry of thinking "shit whats happened!" lol :)

  • No problem, Golden Axe 2 seems to have the same problem. The game goes bananas when you try and play it with a Six-Button, but I'm sure you know that already.

  • good to see you back! nice pickups...do you get them all from ebay?

  • A lot of them mate yes, normally only Japan though. Much better condition and price generally :)

  • Great pick up's Ian! Especially Captain Lang, i can honestly say i've never seen this one before now. Looks like a classic platformer though!

  • A nice little hidden gem! :)

  • bro., you're hardcore wanting a replacement to Fantasia..looks sweet as.

  • Close inspection reveals a tiny bend to the manual- I noticed it when I got my telescope out... :-D lol

  • Great to see you back. Any news on the mega cd front?

  • Spent the money mate on other essential stuff regrettably! Still determined to get one at some point though..

  • Fantasia is pretty rare as Disney forced Sega to pull it from shelves after a few months because of incorrect licensing. Also Infogrammes programmed it for some reason.

But Captain Lang was programmed by Codemasters of all people, pretty odd huh? As it's nothing like they're normal MD games.

  • Yeah I read about the Codemasters link, did find it strange with a JP game!

  • really? those games are everywhere 'round here.

  • Great pickups friend. I've been saving up some cash to import a MegaDrive to play some Bare Knuckle, come to find out, just for shits and giggles I tried popping the cartridge in my JVC X'eye and it fit and started right up. I felt like a moron cause I've been able to play MegaDrive games for a while now and didn't know it. Oh well, now it's time to start collecting more MegaDrive games.

  • Lol- we at least you know now. Fill your boots, there's some superb MD games out there... :)

  • eew, Fantasia... I use mine as shooting practice with a BB gun. I hate that game sooo much.

I always wondered about king of the Monsters, could you do a vid for it? As well as Captain Lang?

  • Will do at some point mate definitely, I'll keep them in mind :)

  • bring on 1,000 subs and did you see my latest video megadrive collection including jap games?

  • Havent seen it mate but I'll check it out when I have a spare moment...

  • thats alot of new subs mate for one shout out. think ive played that Lang game

  • Yes indeed mate, they're still dropping through as well! Lang looks a fun game, looking forward to play it some more :)

  • Never heard of Captain Lang, could be good. Very nice games mate :)

  • Cheers Joseph :)

  • Nice Pickups, Shining Force II is amazing by the way!

  • Thanks mate :)

  • Hey High Seas Havoc aka Captain Lang! I got this on a trade for the Genesis a short while ago and had never played before then and i find it to be a great action platformer and in my personal opinion a "hidden gem" for the system...one of the best games of this type for the old Genny/MD.

Congrats on all the new games Ian.

  • Would agree with that John, its nice getting games that you never heard of that are so interesting! :)

  • Good pickups!

    Getting closer all the time.

very cool of TanukiKGA to do that.

    Oh yeah...

Congrats on the new subs ^_^

  • Cheers mate! :)

  • lol...every time I watch these updates, I always hope that you've picked up Marvel Land.

I downloaded the Mame Rom the other day and the graphics are much better.

I'm getting back into the arcades. Went and checked out the Namco Funscape in Metrocentre the other day. Might take another trip doon Whitley Bay next week during half term :)

Keep up the collection vids mate!

  • Still looking forward to getting that one, what's Namco Funscape like- many good arcades? :)

  • Nice pickups matey - not heard of that Captain Lang before so will be looking forward to seeing a review when you do one matey :)

Im still to pickup the first Bio Shock yet so won't be getting Bio Shock 2 for a while... lol

  • Bioshock 2 is brilliant mate, played it last night. You should get the first one- great atmosphere... :)

  • When I see it as a billy-bargain I'll be getting it... lol
