There will always be critics so Don't let anything anyone says discourage you. Always keep an open mind and continue to grow. Your very talented and will do well.
"The artist isn't supposed to explain his work"... says who? You? And just what makes YOU the authority over all artists in the world? Give me a break... stop trying to be/feel superior... you aren't.
This work is uninformed. Does not show a grasp of Le Courbusier's, Sullivan's, or Wright's human experience.
More in depth analysis of each man's work, life, vision, underlying philosophy would have revealed non-linear thinking. The logical conclusion: there would not be a mathematical/symmetrical result as the pieces show.
There is more depth this artist needs to touch.
I have my Masters in Architectural Theory and a Certificat in Art History, Theory and Criticism.
ok i was a minor in humanities and art/architecture was part of this......this is matt's vision, his work, his expression,,,we can't fault him for feeling a certain way so then why fault him for expressing his feelings as such.....thank you :)
Thank you, Tom. That was...very gallant of you! I never even saw this guy's comment, I wrote him a wonderful message and appropriately blocked him thereafter. If he were to look at the title of the piece, he'd see he's completely missed the message. It is, as you said, my expression. It is not an illustration of the architects, not a narrative piece, I thought any idiot could comprehend that much. Besides, I looked on his profile and he's a failed architect working as a make-up artist. Hmmm...

I don't understand this meeting... Matthew, the artist isn't supposed to explain his work.
You are well spoken, but at the same time, you didn't seem like you were confident in your work.
