@backpackdaddy I always prefer staying at Arambol beach(north end)!! Cheaper and less commercialized.. I use a FZ16 for riding in Bangalore where I live.. Enjoy!!
@backpackdaddy Went there during last new year holidays and due to heavy tourist presence couldn't get my hands on any thing good!! Had a Indian made Bajaj Avenger(pretty much the worst u can imagine from every angle) and another Honda Dio scooter.. The scooter was more fun to ride than the bike!! I'm not a person to ever state something like that, but yeah it was the truth!! But whatever crap bike/scooter u have, once u start riding in Goa, u tend to forget everything!! ;) Its a nice place..
@nerazzurri1985 haha never heard of the term "bulleteer" :-). Sounds great! The Thunderbird was a bit more comfort for the bum. But the 350CC bullet was definitely da bomb! No other bike comes close to that sound! Fully agree with you!
I ride my iron barrel 500 bullet and it's definitely not "shite". And how you could spend 6000 euros on your bike if you can turn a spanner is beyond me.
I have one of the few 350 Standard Bullets (1999 350 Standard) here in the usa. Pushing15000 miles with no major problems. NEVER left me stranded. It is a simple reliable bike but is best left to those bikers who are not push button appliance operators, and know a little about how an machine operates and how to maintain it.. My iron barrel 350 bullet will still be running long after more modern sophisticated throw away machines are scrapped. (PS missed shift is simple detent adjustment )
@jkt8012 Wauw!! I envy you man! I don't know mechanic stuf but I suppose you are right. If you know the basics, you can fix most stuf quite easy yourself. No computer/electronic stuf involved. Just logical thinking. Enjoy the next 15.000K's!
Yeah, i heard that story too so many times: "My bike is ok, the reason why yours isnt reliable is because you dont know how to treat it right"..Only people that dont know me says that, as the ones that do know me also knows what kind of person i am when it comes to treating engines right.
So yes, you would be right if i was a total ignorant with engines and bikes. In this case, youre wrong.
Nope cant afford another one, now..Spend my entire bikebudget on the thing, which i truly regret as i could have bought a decent bike from a quality company for far less. I have a pile of receipts from HMC that far exceeds the value of the bike. So never again, i should have listen to the experts and bought a Kawa W650.
The old engine gave up after 10.000kms, then a new one installed and that one lasted 3500kms ...And everything apart from the frame and tyres has been changed due to breakdowns the first 13.000kms. Cables, gearbox, wireharness, carb, engine(s), exhaust..everything has been breaking on this bike..And note, i am used to classic engines of ancient design.
I have had it for 4000kms and it is by far the most expensive 4000kms i have ever rode, 6000 Euros...
If i were a lady i would have chosen another bike..If i knew now, what i know about the Bullet i would have chosen another bike..a question: Is the homemarket Bullets better made than the export ones, or is there a Bullet mechanic on every street corner in India? I know for sure mine is a heap of junk..
@meharidude I don't know about the homemarket/export difference. I heard that UK motorbikes don't have a very good reputation engine-wise in general. I did not have any trouble riding a Bullet and a Thunderbird in Goa India. In Goa there are a lot of mechanics. I rented the Bullet of the mechanic himself asuming that it wass well maintained. And it was. I ran very smoothly, had the sound of a monstertruck and was shaking like a woman getting close to a great climax :-)
@ThePunjab2010 LOL I only had regular moped (with gear) experience and heard that Royal Enfield has a similar system so by incidende I had the right experience :-). But did the old English made Enfield had the gear upside down?
Never found that difficult...I found bigger issues, such as generally bad quality, poor reliability...But if you cant use the proper right shift/left foot brake technique, then get a UCE. The have right foot brake/left shift, they even have sissy starting...
@TheStudonfire sure I am dude! Still miss it. Would be a reason for me to go back to India and explore the nothern part with the help of "The Beast" ;-)
@vijayalur tnx man! Although I can't make it (leaving for Myanmar within couple of days) I'm sure one day I'll hop in! Can I write a small article for other travelers on this? Is there more info?
@ethan999oz Defenitely The Bullet for the sound, the feeling the chemistry. The Thunderbird was offering more comfort though (saddle and electric starter).
@ExtremeTruckerDave Of course there is always a bigger fish :-). But for a guy without a drivers license, 350cc was enough. Maybe I'll get my motor drivers license since I'm looking forward to more power!!
@itsnazeaf haha the woman is a good fried of mine: no motor experience, no drivers license so the "car coming" could have been of any help haha. I cut the movie down since it took here a minute or 4 just to start the engine. Don't tell anyone huh :-)
I've seen a couple of Enfields here in Barbados where i live,i love them but i dislike the use of the Thunderbird name,Real Thunderbirds are Triumph 650,'s,i know,i own one, lol,

14 Wow! I have a little bit of a Bullet virus myself now as well (31 years :-). I still go mental when I hear the sound of this monster bike. Of course there are Harley's, Indian's and all other kinds of beautiful bikes...but there only one official Royal Enfield Bullet 350CC!! Enjoy Woodford!! (is that the woordford in Northhampton?). I hope I'll ride a "bullet" one day here in The Hague (Netherlands)
I learnt how to ride on a bullet when i was 14 on a trip to Punjab. I fell in love with the bullet at that time and the theres no bike that sounds like it. I loved the video and one day soon, I'll be riding a bullet around south woodford!
wow nice couple and royal enfield i love it ,i ride this bike in 1996 in karnataka on my friends bike and its awesome and sexy and cool ride as it cruises smoothly after 50 kilometres you just feel like amazing , its like butter , and i tell u what its much better the gas guzzling petrol hundry harleys and triumph who will drill a big whole in the pockets , this is the most economical bike. i will buy this in the future for sure in canada .
Tnx for the nice reaction. Exploring Goa by Enfield was an absolute rocking (and shaking :-) experience! I'm thinking of getting one to sometimes here.
It's defenitely on my "to visit" list as I still want to explore the nothern part! If you see some toeristkamikaze guy on a Yezdi or Jawa, it could be me :-)
