Truly a beautiful home for your Betta and it showcases his colors sooo, well, beautifully! My Bettas have a divided 10 Gallon and they're doing wonderfully too.. So nice to see their personalities change and their colors improve after you get them out of that horrid little petstore cup! x

Will some heaters fry your bettas when the water is to hot?

@1peiceaznboi Any heater can 'fry' the fish inhabiting the tank if the heater is set too high or malfunctions. It is always best to buy a heater rated for the size of tank you have, and to make sure the hater has a temperature control.

It is SO GREAT to find someone like you on YouTube who understands the fact that betta fish need SPACE in order to thrive. Anything less than a 5 gallon tank doesn't do justice to these wonderful, entertaining fish.

i have a betta since yesterday. i have a 5 gallon tank and he looks really happy after 1 day. he is swimming around like yours. i have a question,how often do you make a waterchange in this tank? and how much?(25% or more?) thanks in advance.

@chickencanada Assuming you have a proper filter on the tank, you should change 50% of the water at least once or twice a week.

If you do not have a filter, you need to change 100% of the water daily or every other day, else you will poison your fish with its own excrement.

@Sakaane ok, thanks. i have a filter(enough for 5 gallon and a heater). i have already a little cycle, my ammonia is dropping ( 0.5 already) and nitrite too (1.0).... was more couple days ago.

@nething4me I don't think you know what "bad" fins look like. He is a double ray crowntail and is perfectly healthy--that is how they look. Are you trying to compare him to a veiltail perhaps?

i have a question, is it a good idea to always leave the lights on? cuz i live in a cold area and i worry that the water might get to cold thus giving my betta "curled rays",,,, but i was also told that leaving a betta under sunlight/light in genneral,,, is bad soo i any tips?

Fish need a day/night pattern just like any other animal. The light should be on for about 8-10 hours during the day and off at night. A timer is great for this.

The light should not be relied upon as the heat source. Keep your betta in a tank large enough to include a heater. The water should be kept at a consistent temp of about 79F/26C.

You are great for having that little guy in a nie large tank with a filter and heater, he is gorgeous, i am kinda like you, i founf ROGUE my copper crowntail in a pet store, he is stunning and metallic like your guy, they are so pretty and i cant believe no one bought him before me, lol, anyway in the way of names, if you like japanese names...sakura means cherry blossom, and migoto means beautiful, im sure you have already thought of bubble and opal for names, have a look at my guy if you want!
