  • Rhys Ifans really deserve an Oscar in this movie. Such a good actor! Amazing! Is he a bit shy in real life? That's more attractive~~

  • OMG His Voice is sooooooo HOT!

  • I loved the film & also believe Edward de Vere wrote the works. I must say that Rhys Ifans is absolutely HOT! WOW!

  • Rhys Ifans, is actually really hot.! :]

  • There is something so elegant and endearing about movies about England and the Monarchy? Can't wait to see this movie!

  • "Shakespeare has become a kind of jingoistic brand."

  • Hamlet is a rewrite of Denmark folklore. Romeo & Juliet was an older Italian tale.

Why is it so hard to believe that Will wrote his works with a plain education? Look at Lincoln he taught himself. As for the De vere theory, I'm sure that he might have heard some banter about his life somewhere and appropriated it. Writers tend to filch gossip & news, and actors love to brag. Marlowe was a good murderer so I'm sure he put in his 2 cents worth.

  • So, it wasn't Fulke Greville and Christopher Marlowe who collaborated together to write the plays they altruistically attributed to the working class actor, Mr. Shakespeare? The mystery and romance of it all continues!

  • We do know, how ever, that Rhys Ifans is one of the most talented actors of his generation.

  • @Camilla902 Rhys Ifans as de Vere is simply amazing. Give that man an Oscar. I can't wait to see this film again as soon as it's released.

  • @Steerpike07 Then maybe we´ll finally get to see him receive the golden trophy!

  • actually Rhys if you cared to do any research you would find much more is known about the upstart crow Shakespeare. contemporary evidence of his employment as an actor. Poetry and plays bearing his name. Also, not forgetting that he was part owner of The Globe and was referred to in pamphlets and plays of the era as a writer. Wonder if people will believe Rhys Ifans was a musician in future generations? Doubt it, go have another line with Kate and get back to us

  • @TheFranklyman If you cared to do some reasearch, you will find that there is also quite a lot of evidence suggesting that Shakespeare from Stratford was NOT Shakespeare the playwright. So on one hand: he was the most gifted playwright of mankind - on the other hand: no, he was "just" an actor that no-one can prove wrote anything, or maybe at best, wrote i collaboration with Edward de Vere. So in the end: no, we don´t know that much about Shakespeare.

  • @Camilla902 there is no evidence to suggest Shakespeare was 2 people. Just another dumb conspiracy, the bigger the lie. There is plenty of actual historically recorded evidence that Shakespeare wrote his own plays. If you can show anything that isn't just circumstantial, then please share it. But you won't and can't.

  • @TheFranklyman I don´t know why you have to be so aggressive, neither do I know why you assume I won´t answer. For a long time I thought the idea of Shakespeare not "being" Shakespeare was just elitist bullcrap, but I´ve found the connetion to de Vere rather interesting. I find it very credible that the two worked together, forthe simple reason that will had easy access to the world of teh theatre and de Vere easy access of the court.

  • @TheFranklyman How come that the tombstone of Shakespeare hade no goosefeatherpen added until much later. How come so much of de Veres life co-insides with the events of Shakespeares plays? Who is the swan of Avon? Why does no correspondense of Will Shakespeare survive? I´m not telling you off, I´m genuinely curious.

  • @Camilla902 Excellent points of curiosity. DeVere seems the likely author for the bulk of Shakespearean works. Some others probably added or helped, or maybe penned a few of the other works. Either way it's clear that DeVere's life was the source material for most of what we attribute to Will Shakspeare the actor.

  • @TheFranklyman How come there is not a single manuscript of any play in Shakespeare's handwriting? Why do the six badly scrawled signatures that represent the only handwriting we have by him contrast so glaringly with the fluid calligraphy of signatures by Chris Marlowe and Ben Jonson? Why is the tomb in Holy Trinity, Stratford empty? Why are the Stratford Grammar School registers for the years WS was supposed to be there missing? Why is the First Folio dedicated to the son-in-law of de Vere?

  • omg! The first time i saw him was in Little Nicky, he's changed si much!
