A fundamental idea in aikido, with its basis in kenjutsu, is that a single strike weakens the striker and leaves them open to counter strikes. In Aikido, with its basis in daito ryu jutsu, these counterstrikes are designed to kill or break joints. The jeet kun do strikes, with rapid moving limbs, seem to still leave the body in a fairly predictable place for counters. My money's on O Sensei.
