  • this song sounds like tool, and some of you are complaining? -_-

  • yes, it sounds like tool. yes, chevelle knows this and aknowledges that tool is a heavy influence on them.....and thats it. no big conspiracy. chevelle has more songs that sound like chevelle than they do tool...so rest easy knowing all is as it should and noone needs to panic....

  • Tool is better than this bullshit

  • @VEVOTroll Ur sad bro... Get a life

  • the intro is so badass

  • Jam on this tune, Chevelle rocks!

  • chevelle has never sounded liek TOOL...EVER!...this doesnt even remotely sound like TOOL....-.-

  • Dude that riff.. You can't help but do that side to side head bob to it.

  • Hot Diggety Ding Dong Dang !!! Jam it, Fellers !!!!! shut up, vulvatroll.

  • Tool is better than this bullshit

  • @VEVOTroll Then don't repeatedly return here to comment/listen to it. Moron.

  • I lurv this, I lurv tool. Nothing more needs to be said about that subject.

So new question: what is this song about anyway? It's an awesome song, but I don't get the meaning at all.

  • @lomsmallandblue You can never really understand what a Chevelle song is supposed to be about, it's part of the appeal. Haha.

  • Tool is better than this bullshit

  • i agree tht toll rocks but Chevelle is just as good

  • Chevelle is = to Tool and everybodys happy

  • Tool is better than this bullshit

  • @VEVOTroll F*** YOU

  • @VEVOTroll HEY! what? piss off. they're simply not comparable.

  • Fuck You All....2 times

  • Purely because it pisses people off: Chevelle blows cock. Tool ftw.

  • Your face is getting fucked by some small dicked Mexican named "Mr. Floor" because every time I punch your mother in the nose, she tries to strip down her pantyhose. That's when your father who sexually abused you kicks you in the neck and shuts your fucking mouth. This song is about a sexually dysfunctional family and the undertone of incest and rape is more obvious than a pregnant woman's stretch marks or a boob job on a sixteen year old whore. That's your daughter.

  • @bongrocker lolwut

  • Wow, people really argue about this shit? Who gives a fuck. They're both great in their own right. No comparison. SO SHUT THE FUCK UP, AND ENJOY THE MUSIC YOU FUCKING MINDLESS FUCKS

  • Chevelle > Tool.

  • @TheCampbellnator shut up and go listen to tool

  • Still kicken ASS!

  • Nothing better to feel the vibrations when they play this song live! That's real music. Over all nice guys took pictures and signed autographs after the show awesome guys

  • I thought it was clear the song is about Bernie Madoff. The man who created an elaborate Ponzi scheme that stole billions from investors similar to what the banks are doing to the american public today. They even say Madofff instead of made-off as a play on words. I really like the song because of what it says. Read about bernie madoff on wikipedia then listen again it will all make sense. Great tone guys and good job on the album!

  • @jakezombie did what you said and all I can say WOW I think your right

  • When I read "Your mouth blessed," I thought of Tobuscus, even though he blesses your face...

Not to mention that the cover of this album is only Darkness, Redness, and Whiteness....

Chevelle, I really love you. You guys are so awesome. It would be so awesome if the album cover (and that particular line somewhat) was inspired by Tobuscus. (Though it more than likely isn't. Oh well. The thought was nice.)

  • Everybody here seems to be committing on the sound which is great. But, does any of you have a clue what they are talking about.

  • @scotteewing enlighten the world with YOUR perspective and interpretation of the message... please do

  • @scotteewing : Bernie Madoff

  • love it they rock

  • This is what ive been craving!!! this song is incredible!

  • oh my goodness! i stayed up until 12 o clock so i could downlaod the album from itunes, and when i downlaoded the songs, i added them to my playlist. ive only heard clones and arise, and i was SLAPPED.... BY AWESOMENESS!!!!!!!! i thought they were really good! its my fav. album and i have only heard 2 of the songs!!!(: oh, and face to the floor is really good also. their album really does kick ass.

  • these guys gotta alot sounds similar to other bands, but that what makes them their own, just a great group a powerhouse in their genre.

  • chevelle hit this one out of the park,... kick ass tune

  • Hey that advertisement knew where I live!

  • Anyone else think of "Prison Sex" by TOOL or just TOOL in general from this riff?

  • @robhartjr1993 Chevelle draws a lot of comparisons to Tool and the band lists them as an influence. I don't mind it.. gives me something similar to listen to while I pretend Tool still exists.

  • @maynard76 Tool still exists theyre working on new stuff right now......dumbass

  • @R080TPaNda : He means that current Tool is dead to him. Learn to interpret.

  • @Halofreakanoid there is no current tool since they haven't released a new material since 2008 retard thats why there is no current tool and if he is judging current tool hes even dumber since they only play theyre old music when they play live

  • @R080TPaNda : That's EXACTLY what I'm saying dumbass.

  • @R080TPaNda when people say tool they really mean manyard. and he makes new music, puscifer and apc.

  • @R080TPaNda

They just announced a new album. So there is new Tool material they are just waiting to release it.

  • @jacksonshred12345 Yea but its Maynard, who knows when that new CD will come out, this may sound Tool-ish but none of their other songs on this album really sound like tool or on their other albums except the very 1st one. And theirs nothing wrong with sounding like tool, chevelle has more of a faster pace and different singing compared to tool. Either way this song is pretty good.

  • i love the heavy bass at the begininng!!

  • and ps. not kidding, i was literally slapped. they really got it THIS TIME!!!! got me reaaaaal good

  • chevelle is chevelle tool is tool both are good at what they do

  • @mdfslfllf101

THAT'S THE BEST WAY THIS LITTLE "CHEVELLE VS. TOOL" SHIT HAS BEEN PUT!!!!!!! YOU MADE MY THOUGHTS A COMMENT ON YOUTUBE!!!!!!!

  • Okay let me explain since people don't understand. The reason they sound like Tool is gee I don't know that was their main influence! Jeessuuss quit bitching and enjoy both bands.

  • @tbag69ist

yea people dont understand that Tool came out like 7 or 8 years before Chevelle did, what in like 88' or 89' er something cant remember when they formed, either way you took the thought outta my head

  • I thought it was A Perfect Circle when I first heard this. :O It's good though.

  • I don't understand why some people are comparing Chevelle to TOOL. To me, they sound nothing alike.

  • Ok, so last night I was at a party, and they were playing Rap and Dubstep and stuff, which I have no problem with. I asked the guy whose iPod they were using if I could play one song. I looked this up, blasted it on the subs, and EVERYONE was dancing. During the other songs, maybe 1/2 to 3/4 of the people were dancing, but with this song, it was EVERYONE. Thank you for making this incredible song and allowing the partygoers to enjoy the awesomeness.

  • It's not bad, but it's not the best Chevelle I have heard either. Vena Sera was tough to follow up, but they did amazingly with Sci Fi Crimes. I guess i'll have to listen to the rest of the album, but from what I've heard, I wouldn't say this is better than their last two albums.

  • Tools music is way more complex. I dont think they sound alike at all except theyre both post grunge

  • This song gives me chills.. I LOVE IT!

  • in true chevelle fashion they release heavy tracks right after a soft album, the guitar/bass have obvious influences from tool and helmet but the lyrics and vocal style are still very Chevelle , especially when compared to tracks like "the red" and "i wonder whats next"

  • Oh yea, there back with another sick ass track!!!!

  • To me they sound like CHEVELLE. I like this song. Chevelle is one of my favorite rockbands, lost touch with some of their music. But man Im glad they are still going strong.

  • Man sounds just like Tool, but I agree with the top two commenter. No matter what people say, FUCK SCREAMO. And Alternative and Ambient Metal all the way!!!!!!!!!!! TOOL AND CHEVELLE all the way <3

  • I love this<3

  • Chevelle and Tool are BOTH awesome rock bands. Chevelle and Tool have BOTH been around for over a decade so that shows that they're both doing something right. Chevelle and Tool have BOTH refused to sell out. Chevelle and Tool's lead singers BOTH have great modern post-grunge rock voices. Point of this story? Shut the fuck up and listen to some good music.

  • Time to vamanos....really chevelle?

  • OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!! Chevelle I freaking love you, you are so amazing! This is why you dominate my workout playlist!!!! I <3 you!!!!!!

  • I SWEAR TO GOD IF ANYONE EVEN MENTIONS TOOL AGAIN

    1. Some people don't like Tool

    2. Others do

    3. Chevelle IS influenced by Tool

    4. THIS IS A CHEVELLE VIDEO, so maybe we can actually discuss Chevelle instead for a change?

  • @Khronicks TOOL

  • How is Chevelle even being compared to Tool? Tool is far more talented, lyrically and instrumentally. Don't get me wrong, I did like Chevelle's style in the older albums. But this song.. I feel like they've gone downhill. But still, they have never been anything to compare with Tool.

  • I'd say chevelle's lyrics r stronger than tool's but tool has cooler riffs and rhythms.

  • @lizarb51

    WHAT?!

  • the fucks and albatross?

  • @SMump01 a species of bird

  • If you want to compare this song to a Tool song, the closest one is Prison Sex.

I've loved both bands forever... but I never really got the comparison.

  • Tool Jr.

  • @Volumesofdoom give it up man.

  • @Volumesofdoom Took the words right outta my mouth.

  • If you wan't to know what this song is about? Look up Bernie Madoff

  • LOVE THIS TUNE

  • My face is to the floor...

    ...with severe headbanging.

  • I love Chevelle, but Pete has never made a damn bit of sense with his lyrics. lol

  • band

  • Chevelle is one bad I can't get tired of. Love all their albums. Can't wait for this new album. And TOOL's if that ever happens.

  • Comment removed

  • ps. ha. you cant even see the dislike bar!!!! (: those 3 people.. are haters!!! they just wish there wasnt such a freakin BADASS band like chevelle.

  • @chevellerocks0561 I didn't even know there were dislikes on this video until you said so. :P

  • Can you all wait for the album to come out on dec.6? cuz i know i FREAKIN cant!!(:

  • god i fucking love rock, long live the never changing chevelle

  • I really love this song. Just the groove of the guitar, the style of singing... ugh. I love it. haha

  • kid: mom im going out

mom: okay hunny but your not gonna go punish 3 people are you

kid: ofcourse not im gonna go rock with the other 370

  • So I'm seeing a lot of comments about the similarities with Tool. The way they write their music is definitely known only to Chevelle. Same goes for Tool, it's to mistaken them for any other artist. I don't think it's in their tonality, it's in their lyrics. Lack of focal point with suggestive nudges. However, the comparisons are slim. Chevelle is more like kickboxing while Tool is more like Brazilian Jiu Jitsu ....if that clarifies anything o.O

  • @XXXdemosthenesXXX Chevelle lyrics are like a dark alley fist fight, where as Tool's are like getting out of some torture dungeon under a creepy neighbors house. No matter what your gonna get a little blood on your shirt!

  • @Robill111 you characterized it much better. i think both bands have strong focal points espec. tool...if that person can't seem doesn't mean they aren't there.

  • @XXXdemosthenesXXX the reason ppl are saying it is similar with Tool is the sound of the music. The riff of this song is slightly similar to forty six & 2, but it's mainly just the rhythm of the song as well as the typical drop-d riff found in just about every Tool song. the singer in this song also sings almost exactly like Maynard does. regardless if you agree with this comment, you can agree that this song kicks ass!

  • @XXXdemosthenesXXX You took the words straight from my mouth, good sire. You win a few internets.

  • @XXXdemosthenesXXX The first time I heard this song was via the radio, not knowing the artist. First suspicion was Tool, until I heard the vocalist.

I like both groups, but I consider Tool the superior group because they're more progressive and encompass a broader sound. Chevelle is not a great band, but they kick ass because they convey a sound that is more about sticking to what works: straight ahead post-grunge licks; brilliantly overdubbed vocals, and brooding introspective lyrics.

  • @hotprofdude Aye, Chevelle is what I listen to in the 5 years time that it takes Tool to make a new album :P

  • @XXXdemosthenesXXX Tool is such a tool...

  • @XXXdemosthenesXXX remember though tool was chevelle's main influence. Chad sings alot like Maynard James Keenan. The style is really similar. You do have a point with the lyrics though.

  • @coonsasquatch His name's Pete, not chad

  • @grnjiant i keep thinking its chad im not sure where i got chad from

  • @coonsasquatch main influence says who? they may have been but i have never seen it said right out. and his name isn't chad dude.

  • @c9castine oh yeah I keep thinking its chad my bad

  • @XXXdemosthenesXXX i'd say they are pretty similar.

  • @XXXdemosthenesXXX chevelle does not right its own music....but thats not to say there one of the baddest fucking bands ever....

  • @TheRyanpierson Get me source on this statement and I might believe you. Chevelle does in fact "write" "their" own music. Sam and Pete have never let their producers get in the way of Chevelle's song writing. Besides, Epic is full of push overs who only want to make money and produce sell outs. When you get off the crack pipe, get back to me....thumbs down dude...thumbs down...

  • @XXXdemosthenesXXX people are so nasty.....i was told this by multiple people that listen to the band that they dont but i just now looked it up an your right they do, no reason to attck me ive been listeening to chevelle now for 5 years an the whole time i thought they didnt wright there own material but now that i know they do there that more badass

  • @TheRyanpierson Chevelle does too write* their* own music. Where did you get this crap information?

  • @TheRyanpierson uhh yeah they do buddy. this isn't really a topic for discussion. look into the band a little more and youll find they are one of the most genuine rock groups in mainstream today.

  • Those three that said dislike must have slipped.... Yessir!

  • Chevelle is so great.

  • they dont sound like tool at all, tool has a darker sense to their songs.. no similarities to chevelle at all.. if anything their bass rifts sound alike, but its the bass haha.. its pretty tough for artists these days to create anything themselves, its pretty much all be done, everyone samples

  • @19IKE89 uhhh...i beg to differ. there are plenty of artists who don't sample. try turning your local top hits radio station off.

  • listen to tool - prison sex

  • this is so sick, i can def hear tool similarities, and i love it

  • As a super hardcore longtime fan of Chevelle, I have to admit I find this song very average by their standards. It almost sounds like it could fit as a bonus track on Wonder What's Next-- not a catchy enough hook to be a good single, and almost good enough to make it on the album (but not quite there.) It's heavy; I like that. I also appreciate that they've stayed so true to their roots all these years! I'm not thrilled with this song, but I'm not disappointed either. Just my opinion!

  • every band took influence from their idols. Even Jimi Hendrex sounds like SOMEONE that came before him. nobody is original, there was always someone before them, no matter how unknown.

  • Bad ass new jam by these guys. They definitely haven't sold out. This is a tough sound for them

  • chevelle keeps bringing out great music. I like how simple the guitar is and it all fits togeather. You can hear the change in the music from the first album. most people can't do what chevelle has done. For those who diss....chevelle is no rip off of anyone. They are their own band with a sound of their own. I hope they keep it comming..

  • I have never been big on Chevelle. Not because I didn't like them, I just didn't listen to them. This song has changed that for me. This song is so great.

  • This sounds like a Nickelback song to me...and that's not a good thing.

I loved "WWN" and "TToT" but since then? Haven't really enjoyed any music of theirs after that. Plus the whole firing Joe thing rubbed me the wrong way, a lot.

    Eh.
