  • Felt a sudden urge to listen to this. The best Bond theme imho. The movie is awesome aswell. Too bad George Lazenby didn't get a chance to make more. He's actually doing the things Bond does IRL, so it would seem a good match.

  • mission impossible, the bourne series and all the others simply cannot compete with bond, those films are good but bond is epic, legendary and classic

  • @Brady2k10 There were even more spy movies after Bond first appeared trying to cash in on the Bond formula. A few were Matt Helm (Murderer's Row, The Ambushers, The Silencers, The Wrecking Crew), "In Like Flint" and "Our Man Flint", "The Man From U.N.C.L.E.", "Agent for H.A.R.M." and my all time favorite "The Liquidator"

  • Why do I get a sudden urge to storm Piz Gloria with a Walther PPK?

  • This was supposed to be a new JB intro theme in the next movies, right? Not just an ordinary opening?

  • duh duh duh duh duh duh duh duh duh...

  • @cyndassprites pwa pwaaaa pwa pwa pwa pwa pwaaaaaaaaa ;)

    TY! :)))

  • This music also played during the ski chase scene.

  • Terrific, driving instrumental theme -- this and "Goldfinger" are the two best of the entire series!

  • It was a great james bond movie

  • Perhaps John Barry's finest Bond effort after "Goldfinger" and "The James Bond Theme".

  • @doc2skate I agree with the 2nd through 6th words of your comment!!

  • RIP John Barry

  • Definitely! Nobody does it better than Barry, John Barry! Thee best sound track and excluding ALL the Moore series plus the awful "Quantum of whaddyacalllit?" this is thee worst Bond film!

  • Love that harpischord sounding synth.

  • reminds me of The Incredibles

  • How on earth can someone dislike this unbelievably great music?!?!? sulacomarine had it right .... Bad ol' Ernst Stavro must have come to life and gotten access to this video and pressed the thumbs down button 4 times before he was caught and dumped down a smokestack ......

  • BEST BOND MOVIE EVER!

  • Great theme tune indeed, and Diana Rigg was awesome, what I cannot say about Telly Savalas. Unfortunately, the role of James Bond was played by a puppet (well, The Thunderbirds' "Parker" had more character than Lazenby).

  • Propellerhead did a good remix of this, in fact their version is bloody excellent.

  • @5almondcourt You're bang on there, I adore the Propellerhead version. I've got the other variants of it as well, the string version, the 9 minute or so version and the regular one.. they're all spectacular. Oh, and I still have the cassette version hahaha.

  • i think this bond was the best, i just watched the movie unprejudiced.

  • We BECOME James Bond when we hear this music! His experience is OUR experience and the movie is suddenly not JUST a movie but an INSANE chase down a ski slope with 6 guys with machine guns on our ass!

  • @Yapostadodat excellent vision! matches my vision! I do feel that exact INSANE but adrelanine pumping chase while watching ski slope scenes.

  • This song makes me want to quit my music degree and be a spy.

  • oldskoolrichba.the best ever bond, ive loved it since i was a nipper.ive even ripped down a mountain myself with it booming though my ears years ago.lol, love it

  • Every time I go skiing...I put this on repeat in my iPod!! Best bond theme ever!

  • R.i.P John Barry, You actually were...awesomeness in shoes :)

  • Has anyone else notice this theme is just the same as the Incredibles?

  • This song starts my day!!!! John Barry was a musical genius!!!

  • Without a doubt, the GREATEST Bond theme.

  • @Joe110694 I sure do agree ! ...

  • No other bond score could ever reach this one.

  • @schowitsch It's the electric guitars that make this music!!

  • The Bond theme that really means Bond.

  • Mr. Incredible trying to put on his belt.. hehe

  • "This never happened to the other fellow."

  • EPIC!

  • This movie exploded onto the cinema scene just before Christmas, 1969. Guess who helped it?? Johnny Carson!! He had Lazenby come onto the Tonight Show as a guest, asked Lazenby a few questions, then George had the film clip from the first ski chase scene when he (Bond/Lazenby) escapes from Piz Gloria on Christmas night. The audience went bananas first, when Lazenby skis away from the building and the music kicks in, then again when the precipice scene came on.

  • Agreed with Hydroman. Give "The Propellerheads" cover of this a listen too.

  • Best Bond theme ever!

  • great theme music and great plot sad ending!

  • Ernst Stavro Blofeld reloaded and pressed 'dislike' 4 times.

  • Only Bond movie with a sad ending. Great movie and music.

  • @kyokogodai I thought the ending to Casino Royale was sad when Vesper died! Anyway theres a few James Bond books that end sad, Casino Royale and Moonraker to name a few.

  • @nrjelley Oh yes, the books are different, for sure. Casino Royale didn't really end with Vesper's death (Bond capturing Mr. White was the end of the movie). All of the Bond movies have those sad parts, when the female Bond is "active" with ends up dying (like Aki, in "You Only Live Twice"). Although James takes it badly, he always bounces back. Well, with Tracey (forgive me, if I spelled it wrong, since there are a few ways to do it), it was a whole different ball game. So very, very sad.

  • This Never Happend to the other Fellow (Sean Connery)

  • It's a great movie by the way, one the 5 best Bond to me

  • when movie music still was original, awesome and BIG.

  • the incredibles!

  • BEST THEME EVER!!!

  • the best bond theme tune ever

there has never been anything like it and never will

john barry you were a legend

Rest in peace genius Rest in peace

  • So that's where they got the theme from and put that theme into the unreleased trailer of The Incredibles.

  • @SR71ABCD then how come i saw that trailer at the cinema?

  • amazing brass . rip john barry . he was and still is a great actor

  • @norabudgie What? John Barry was the composer..

  • @Powderwombat both of em er eh

  • @Powderwombat George Lazenby then

  • best bond music ever

  • 0.07 onwards LOL. Doesn't get better for a start to a theme tune than this. EPIC.

  • OHMSS: The best Bond Movie, the bhest skii chase ever and the best fight sequences, with the fight sequances in Golden Eye and Casino Royale coming a close, joint second.

As for the music, best score of the entire series by a very long mile. The main theme was used as the backdrop for the skii chase down then mountain

    Total Class

RIP John Barry, you were a giant

As the song goes in the Spy Who Loved Me.."Nobody does it better"

  • @vnuwaifo I totally agree. This movie blew all the others away...before and after.

  • This theme is awsum, the movie isn't bad either.

  • LAZENBY was the best Bond. Even better than Connery. He was rugged and could fight, drive and smoke a cigarette better than any other BOND!

    Wish he had done more!

  • anyone who wants to upload the ski chase and car chase from the movie:)?

  • What's the instrument that comes in after about 7 seconds? Is it a distorted bass guitar or something?

  • @evo5dave Oh I found out myself. It's a Moog synthesiser.

  • The strings from 1:26-1:41 always give me shivers!

  • maybe one of my fav bond themes. ill be watchin this movie and judge it for myself.

  • The best composer of the 1960s. He should have 10 Oscars. Incredible he isn't honored as he should be.

  • best theme song ever!

  • I wanted that Ian Fleming alive to see and hear this. I could see his happy tears right now.

  • @keveny007 Yeah I think he would have liked this film. However I think he might have disliked or even hated many other adaptions of the novels and he would never have allowed them to film YOLT before OHMSS.

  • @spectre0075 And Lazenby might have also thought, "Man, I just got dissed big time by an English composer!!" LOL

  • i have the complete collection on DVD it shows ''007'' :DD

love this film its perfect ,best bond girl ,bond enemys ,the ''SPECTRE'' with orange jackets and skiing while shooting :DD classic movie ,the new bond movies will never beat this!!<3

  • i wanna buy this film on dvd :) <3

  • Fantastic music from Barry-he made the early Bond films legendary with his brilliant

    compsitions! R.IP John!

  • this is the best Bond movie and the best opening theme.. Lazenby deserves far more credit for his performance!

  • Gran película y tema, lástima que el mejor Bond de todos los tiempos "Sean Connery" no haya protagonizado esta cinta, ya que ha sido considerada como la mejor película del agente 007 hasta ahora.

  • Very Very Very sad day....... rest in peace. What can you say about a total genius. So sad today. His music will live on.

  • RIP, a true genius :(

  • RIP John Barry. You were awesomeness in shoes.

  • @Ro1ism IMHO, Sean Connery would have ruined this film. After Goldfinger, it was so obvious that he hated Bond's character and wanted to leave the series. He turned in a mediocre performance in Thunderball and turned in his worst performance in You Only Live Twice. I think Lazenby is fun to watch and he gave it his best. Connery also pissed me off in Diamonds Are Forever. He only came back for the money and it was obvious.

  • @bealio721 I am not sure about that. I can not remember where I heard it, but part of the reason why Connery was frustrated was that there were not giving him any character development in his films and he said years later somewhere that had he been able to read the script, he would have tryed to be in this one. But even so, the movie would have been very different with Connery, even if he was doing a Dr. No and From Russia with love type bond. I thought Lazenby did very well.

  • @bealio721 Especially since he didn't dye his hair or get in shape. He also slept in a hammock on the set!!

  • Best tune, worst actor. Except for the last scene....

  • The beat that starts at 0:08 sends chills up my spine everytime. Brilliant.

  • The Broster at number 3 you must be kidding! I think his films will be looked back at as dull and charmless, plus he squints and sounds like he's constipated and drives a fricking Beemer-oh the shame!

  • This movie was great! I especialy like the Ski chace,Blofelds house of the angels of death, and the title song!Telly Salavas was great as Ernst Stavro Blofeld!I also like the fact that other Bond movies mention the tragic event of the death of Tracy aka Bonds wife. That was extremely sad however a very memorable moment in the history of James Bond. For example movies such as Diamonds are forever and For you'r eyes only followed that moment.

  • i think my favourites are #1 Connery, #2 Moore, #3 Brosnan, #4 craig, #5 lazendby, #6 dalton

  • Really? This is exactly what I believe right now too. Based on their performances and their films... Timothy Dalton was still alright, but his films were somewhat lacking compared to Lazenby's one (and only) good performance in "On Her Majesty's Secret Service." I might rank George Lazenby a step higher if he did more than just O.H.M.S.S. You can't really beat Sean Connery and Roger Moore for the top two though, with maybe Pierce Brosnan being third, and Daniel Craig being fourth. My opinions...

  • @calvinnn1 i have to say that Moore is nr 1 imo :PPP

  • @CssGeteN123 yeh him and Connery are my favs Moore had the best wit and humour of all of them

  • This movie is the proof that you don´t always have to stick to the usual Bond formula yet you can still make it feel like a Bond movie (cough.. Quantum Of Solace). Just use the damn works of Ian Fleming!

  • greatest bond theme EVER

  • One of my favorite themes even though it's a instrumental. Better than the film.

  • You would have been a hero if you could have loaded the soundtrack that actually had the lyrics. Lyrics you say????? Oh yes, there were lyrics to the original OHMSS and thankfully they were never used.

Would this have been Connery's finest film? Better than From Russia with Love? We'll never know

  • is this digital or analogue sound??

  • how did such a great theme get let down by such a shite film ..mind u it wasn't that bad, but just way overshadowed by the greatness of connery, and roger moore ..even as a 25 year old i can appreciate the greatness of the early bond films :)

  • My favorite Bond film is Goldfinger...Naturally; However this was definitely a great Bond film. Diana Rigg & George Lazenby were terrific together, along with Telly Savalas...What better villain could there have been at the time for the head of S.P.E.C.T.R.E.

  • Lazenby is THE BOND

    Moore could have been!

  • @MaxRenn Moore was just fine.

  • @WALTERBROADDUS

Totally agree! Rog is a gent and his Bond films seem to get so much better with age.

OHMSS is on a planet of it's own though.

    It's called class!

  • amazing movie, but sean connery would have made it 100x better and a huge financial success

  • @247mhm true thats why the aussie only made ohmss

  • @247mhm Connery's my favorite, but I just can't picture him pulling off the emotional scenes in this movie. Lazenby was perfect for this movie because it was such a departure from what the series had become.

  • @hotchiemotchie I couldent agree with you more. Its like you were in my head. But you put it in words i couldent. I also think the music in this movie is one of the best sounding.

  • I enjoyed this movie, think my biggest criticism was the length. Excellent theme, strong supporting cast. Very unfairly treated by the critics

  • I've always wondered, if at the time this one came out and circumstances could have been alot different back then and Sean Connery was actually in this one as his last Bond movie, how much different this movie could have been. I would have personally loved to see that but alas it was not to be.

OMG IMO, I think this one would've end up being universally regarded as THE best Bond film of all time had it been Connery and not Lazenby, even though I liked Lazenby in this one. Always wondered that

  • This music means business.

    And does the business.

  • @gevans28 With the business, for the business...

  • @gevans28 hack yeah

  • what a kick ass tune................

  • CAUSTION . . . . Driving while listenning to this song is dangerous

  • @ALDabbagh1988 LoL, how true. Well officer....I was listening to this theme music, thats why my Ford Escort was pushing 120....sorry.

  • I love this theme song and I love this James bond movie. They symbolize changes. At the time this movie was released people were uncertain about what was going to happen to the James Bond franchise. This movie and theme song symbolizes that good changes were coming (and they in fact did).

  • I feel as though On Her majesty's secret service was a really under ratted film, so was timothy Dalton's films. Now i can truthfully honestly say that I've seen every single(official) James Bond film, but i think Dalton and Lazenby did pretty good jobs as james bond. Now at the same time, do i think they're meant to be a permanent james bond like Connery or Moore was. . . . Naw. But they are decent substitutes for like 1 or 2 films.

  • Lazenby was a good bond, I think i was the director who screwed he movie up...

  • u r right definitely the best movie and great song

  • he was a good bond he was like a real person he cried and was sad not like a little MI6 robot

  • The main horn part can distinctly be heard in The Incredibles Pixar movie soundtrack.

  • i recall this coming out, bitterly disappointed connery was replaced.watching it again i dont think i gave enough credit to lazenby,s efforts,he would have grown his own bond persona more fully given the chance. The film has a few silly moments, but has high production values, brilliant ski shots, stunning views, with barry,s exceptional theme music its worthy of a place in the bond franchise.

  • One of the better Bond themes.

  • The movie where Bond got married..... in PORTUGAL! :)

  • THE BEST BOND FILM EVER!!!! also the best bond soundtrack ever! Quantum of Solace just sucked

  • @videomaster54321 Yeah right.

  • the downhill chase scenes

  • Could he have been given another three films perhaps? Who knows what he could have been. Lazenby, like Dalton, went way too early.

  • What a classic. Barry at his best.

  • ♥ .

  • This piece is an auditory orgasm!

  • they should let john barry do all the bond themes!! let shirley bassey or tina turner sing a few more bond songs , they have that bond theme voice!!

  • This is my favourite movie actually...Lazenby should have done at least two more.

  • @Nelsanski33 So true

  • Fortunately Timothy Dalton declines this. He was only 21 or 22 at the time and way too young. Lazenby got a lot of flak but the fact is he isn't that bad at all. What ruined some of the movie is how he and Diana Rigg couldn't stand each other at all in private.

OHMSS is among the best Bond movies made. Lazenby would have been better than the tired Connery in Diamonds Are Forever.

  • @McLarenMercedes Diamonds Are Forever would make much more sense as a revenge flick (sort of) if it had Lazenby and mentioned Tracy. But the best would be if You Only Live Twice had come after OHMSS, like the novels.

  • @HammerBirchgrove right because it actually mentioned his wife being killed by Blofeld in the You Only Live Twice Book. I didn't finish it but can't understand why that movie was not closer to the book. Having a poisonous garden with a strange doctor in disguise sounded so much cooler.

  • @Knightmessenger From what I've read on the subject, the producers thought the "travelogue" part of the novel would be too boring on screen. Then again, some of the exoticism did get into the film anyway. I suppose it was a good thing to remove the racial slurs from the Australian character (I don't remember his name.) But I agree on the garden; I loved the sci-fi plots as a kid but now I feel the film makers over-did that aspect of Bond, they should have kept more of the "pulp novel" parts.

  • love it

  • Very good theme, i am myself Timothy Dallton/ License to kill, best Bond/ best movie of the series.

  • best theme, one of the best Bond movies. Also the rarest ost on vinyl, for some reason

  • A great theme and without a doubt one of the best Bond films. I think it is a tragedy that Lazenby did not do more Bond movies, but everyone at the time was besotted with Connery. After all the line reads Sean Connery IS James Bond. So Connery was dragged back for the next movie and it shows! He had had enough. I thought Lazenby was really good.

  • the music is good but the film not

  • I concur with Kirok: While always a fan of Sean Connery's Bond, THIS is nonetheless the best overall Bond film to date, and perhaps of all time. Lazenby, especially considering this was his FIRST outing as an actor, is superb. Diane Rigg, was, well, DIANE RIGG (tres magnifique!). The rest of the cast was spot-on. Peter Hunt's direction was great. Barry's score is a masterpiece. Just a SUPERB realization of the Fleming novel all way round.

  • Great sound!! This theme is inspiring - good driving music - good fantasy music!! When I saw this movie, I liked it immediately - everyone else said it was terrible. I think now when I read the comments that many agree this was an unusual and wonderful variation on the Bond formula.

  • Terrific theme ... and George Lazenby took on the most thankless task in modern movie history -- replacing Sean Connery in this role. I thought he was much better than I had anticipated. This hard-driving musical movement followed by about 1/10th of a second one of the best Bond beginnings ever -- featuring the dashing Lazenby poking fun at himself -- MAGIC.

  • this movie could have been better with a difernt actpr george just started his acting carrer when he was in this movie that was hiis first movie he acted

  • Great film with the best soundtrack. Would have been the best film of the series if Connery had played Bond as originally planned.

  • The greatest Bond movie of all time, the best bond soundtrack of all time, the best ski sequence ever flmed, the best Blofeld, the best fight sequences....

What more can i say? The only bond movie that comes close to this in the modern ere is Casino Roayale

    OHMSS rules!!!

  • Greatest movie theme i have ever heard in my entire lifetime!

  • @wtyopa Agree. Sorry, but I have to say that Craig is a big deception for me...

  • @wtyopa People will be hard pressed to argue with you. This is a great theme.

  • Great movie.

  • Great theme, worst James Bond ever.

  • Great theme, great movie in my opinion.

  • The old bond was an MI-6 agent right?

The new bond is a mossad agent..

    just a thought..

  • Best bond theme, worst bond ;-) jesus, it was 30 odd years ago....;-o

  • 41 years since the theatrical release

  • Best Bond theme, 2nd Best Bond. George just go some wrong advice, which made it possible for the worst Bond (Roger Moore) to step in. End of Story.

  • Best Bond music.....then Goldeneye, although Live and Let DIe had great theme music as well

  • I think rating the Bond films comes down to what elements best appeals to each of us...ie: strong characters,good/bad plot, thematic music, special effects, etc. But ultimately, the combination of all these ingredients whether compatible or not, make or break a Bond movie.

  • I disagree. I think it was an EXTREMELY good Bond movie (and it's opening in my opinion was as good as Goldeneye's). But it's OK. I don't block people who express their opinion. :) And I'll give you a thumbs up (just to make it even).

  • Now that was well handled of course in the end its a James Bond MOVIE! :D but you have to say the ending could have been a littles better.

  • Yeah, it was the only James Bond ending that made me feel depressed.

  • True, the ending was very sad, especially if you had not read the book first (which I had done). At least it was one of the relatively rare instances when the movie copied the Bond book.

  • @Kirok It was almost the same ending as in the novel. Lazenby read the book in order to get sad enough to make the acting believable. He wanted to make Bond shed a tear in the end, but the director and/or producers disagreed on that.

  • @Kirok - If you had felt happy and smiling at the ending, I would be concerned for you. It's a very good, dramatic ending, and good to see one end a little differently for a change...

  • @Kirok Well yes, it was depressing...that's how it happened in the book too, lol. HOWEVER...the movie was originally going to end with Bond's wedding, and thus on a happier note. I believe if George had stayed, they would've killed Tracy in the pre-title sequence of Diamonds and started the movie from there.

  • @spoons954 I am sorry that the ending depressed you, Spoons, but the ending is pretty faithful to the novel by Ian Fleming (UNLIKE SO MANY BOND FILMS!!). In the novel Tracy ends up dying, also, right after they are married. Having read the novel first, I was prepared for the ending when the movie was released in December 1969, but 4 of my closest friends were not.

  • @Kirok I agree. Although the ending is depressing it is extremely effective and touching. OHMSS is a film which stays extremely faithful to the book right up until its conclusion. The words Bond says in the film ("its alright, she's having a rest") are taken straight from the novel.

  • @Kirok Absolutely. This movie is definitely one of the best Bond films. Telly Savalas was superb as Blofeld. Excellent soundtrack as always!

  • "Golden eye was STUPENDOUS!!!!!!!"

    More like stupid.
