yea, but i personally thought it was a cool idea and cover. the girl was being very negative it wasnt comparing a"a black man to an ape" but king james as king kong which is a cool idea.
now every one must be sleeping. i know i just heard that reporter call Labron James an Ape on the sneeky tip. but trying to play it off by correcting it with the word April. does'nt bother me because this is how i have always known it to be.

Lamont and obama are all homosexuals, onama is also illegal and a dirty muslim. They can't take showers because there is no plumbing in foreign countries. so they all smell like shit. hillary used to have huma, but she just threw huma under the bus. One less smelly coon.
If an Afro-American eleven year old boy who was brought up without being aware of his people's history dresses up as an ape and plays King Kong in an all white (excluding him) play, he will not get the joke.
I believe that Angela is an educated and well brought up woman who is not culturally aware of her people's history.
This should be a Cover of two of some of the most unique individuals in their own

I think the Cover for that month in that year was really good. And I do not care much about whether anyone else thinks otherwise.
this bitch talkn bout drug abuse! WHAT THE FUCK drug abuse you talkn about in the black community?! This aint the 70's or 80's crack epidemic. The only drugs we mess wit is weed. 1.So, since the host failed to answer it, how IS it inappropriate to represent women as sexual beings, but totally cool to represent a black man as a giant gorilla?
2. Last I checked, women were still sexual beings, and black men were still not gorillas.

He has got a big point about the similarity in rap videos and the vogue cover - they don't think that they were being compromised - we as consumers look at the capitalist aspects such as whether it makes money rather then cultural historical aspects and this is emphasised by the repetition of "oh but its vogue" it could be argued that this statement enforces the dominant ideology of everything being acceptable as long as the consumers remain passive.....(continued) >
When I first saw it, I just saw the two people. Lebron and Giselle. I didn't see a black man and a white woman. I think ironically, those who claim it is racist, who are trying to defend the predjudice of one race over another, in a way are just seeing the color of the person's skin. Just like someone who discriminates against someone for the color of their skin. These two people aren't defined by the color of their skin and they are so much more than that.
If I want to pull something racist out of something that isnt, there is one picture inside the magazine where Giselle is standing with her arm leaning on Lebron's shoulder who is bent down oh his knee. This is EXTREMELY racist. How dare they show the white person above the black person pushing him down. They should be standing at equal heights. Either Lebron bend his knees, or someone give Giselle a box to stand on. How offensive! ( sarcasm of course)
It represents him better I think about who he is. Obviously because King Kong has his mouth open roaring and has big muscles and carries a blonde in the film, you could see a simalarity. But I think the people who saw that were making a mountain out of a mole hill. I think most people wouldn't have even thought about that if they had'nt made a big deal about it and pointed it out. I of course agree racism is wrong, but I also think smearing something as raceist, that isn't, is equally wrong.
I think what appealed to the photographer about the cover was that it contrasted the two well. Sports are about passion and emotion and LeBron is showing He is a feirce competitor and is a representation of the power he brings to the game. Giselle being a model, she is more reserved and has more subtle gestures and trying to let the camera capture a good picture. Its more realistic that LeBron pose like this than just standing there like a model, He's not a model, He's an athlete.
That lady takes every opportunity to talk bad about the black community. She hates herself and her people and would give her soul to be white. She really sickens me.
Ok, first of all...Vogue? Really? Why would a man get excited about being on Vogue? But whatever...history is history, right.
I love Dr. Hill...and I agree with him. But Angela McGlowan made several excellent points. But Marc Lamont Hill is right. The rap video comment he made was SPOT-ON. What was really funny is that they proved him right and they didn't even realize it.
oh my GOD how can people even stand to go onto anything to do with Fox News? you make a valid point, and when you try to defend it they yell their own point of view over yours until you give up out of frustration and then claim their argument was better. it's worse than arguing with my younger brother ffs.
I think that Marc had great response to this subject matter as, a matter of fact this Voig magazine has never put a Black person on their cover. To have a Black women agreeing with the fact that it shows no racial problems at all. This Black woman is just a paid mouth piece for white supremacy instead of having an intellectual Black man on that cover that did not. That Black women need to get off the porch. She need to read the Willy Lynch Letter
lol, wow. He tore them to shreds about the video comment but look how they tried to team up on him....they knew he was making a point so they tried reverse it and change it up on him. Yeah, I know that FOX have to think twice before they invite Marc on their network. lol
When fox news folks have someone on as their guest who is opposed to whatever the topic is on; when they know the guest is going to be trouble, they simply out/over talk them. He made a valid point about the video chic seeing nothing wrong with what they do in a rap video, and compared it to Lebron on Vogue and they had no answer for him, and actually they proved his point and didn't even realize it, and just started both yelling at him. Damn dimwits.
I agree this wasnt a big deal but Dr. Lamont has a point. Alot of conservatives will use this as propoganda against miscegination and mixing with blacks.
OK obviously Marc Lamont wins again because he is smarter than the 2 of them combined and he is so damn good. but even though he won the debate he didn't win the arguement. The picture to me is just a picture. I usually agree 100% of what Lamont says but this time the picture is just really a picture.
They totally missed the point that he made in contrasting the video vixen and Lebron's willingness to perpetuate a painful image to those connected with the historic bruise this country has inflected on African to American people does not excuse the fact that images are hurtful
I'm not going denigrate the woman on the panel and call her out of her name. She seems to be well put together, confident, educated to degree, but not very culturally aware. A learning moment yes not a chance to cry foul
Take note...this video's embodies the TRUE contextual problem with the African American community...BM left to defend another lost BM because the WM controls and gives the BW a little bit of pull over us....notice how at the end the BW was just cheering and yes'sa the commentator...she couldn't articulately defend her argument against a competent BM so she piggy backed the WM when he came with her repackaged B.S.and actually -made the BM point-...but the BW still took the WM side.
@lafucil right her "argument" was basically non-existant; 1) We have more important things to complain about (drugs, and bad schools) 2) He was posing like an athelete 3) repeat 1 and 2. Sorry smh
... subconsciously or consciously contrast the differences in the two positions and the messages that they communicate. The makers of these magazines are not stupid and they know what they doing.
Honestly, I had the same response to the picture as Dr. Lamont Hill. When i first saw the cover i immediately was in shock. My first response to the picture was not in any way celebratory to the fact that lebron became the first black man on the cover of Vogue Magazine, it was disgrace, because he was on it looking like a beast/ animal while the white woman looked elegant. When one realizes it or not, a picture such as this triggers racial thoughts in a person's mind as they...
1. ) Ummm, she is actually "white" - she's Brazilian, of Caucasian European ancestry... duh?!
2.) "You're black, and you're black... how is it possible that you two could have such diametrically opposing view points?!? I mean, we ignorant white FOX NEWS pundits feel more comfortable when we can conveniently categorize people by their outward appearance... it's easier that way."
Dr. Hill was the only intelligent person on that segment.
@calebmallen she was probably coming from the point that white in USA is different from being white in Brazil. There are still whites in america that dont consider anyone in a continent of color white. for instance it's very hard to find a indigenous Argentine of color due to the white spanish conquest of that country, yet i guarantee you 9 out of 10 white americans will says those people arent white. same with Brazil.
Your very unperceptive or in denial, if you look at that picture and you don't see King Kong like imagery. Go to google and type in "Destroy this mad brute" and compare that image to the cover of Vogue and tell me it doesn't look the same. Mark also makes a great point about the women in rap videos. Just because the people being objectified agree with it doesn't make it ok lol
I guess Dr. Lamont Hill was right after all. The owner even considered Lebron and animal insinuating that he was a runaway slave for leaving Cleveland. Damn, how prophetic was Dr. Hill!!
"The ape -- the April edition." On Fox, these are rarely Freudian slips. Fox has a history of these little "slips." It's merely Fox's way of inserting bigotry -- accidentally, they claim -- into its program.
king kong is so racialized, i agree with Lamont Hill, its more than a image its reflective of racism. a Kingly expresion doesn't need to be like King Kong, but he has a stereotypical mentality 8-).
Ridiculous debate; M.L. Hill was the only one with valid arguments. The analogy with rapvideos in particular was spot on. The woman first acknowledges that the aim was to make a king kongish picture and then tries to trivialize it by saying that black people have 'bigger problems to worry about'. How the hell does that defeat Hill's argument? The interviewer was simply annihilated by the rapvideo-argument... Sharp lad; that Marc Lamont Hill...
Lamont hit the nail on the head..."because there's a history of fear around black male bodies around white female bodies." The good doctor is always on point.
@redhibernation ...Yes, he is. He's a Role Model of mine (Along with Dr. Boyce Watkins)--Intelligent, blunt, and, most importantly, real. It goes without saying that we need more people like Dr.s Hill and Watkins speaking up for black people in Faux News and other outlets...
The Factor is the lowest form of journalism that America has to offer. It is a shame that so many people watch it. Hopefully future generations will be more likely to simply ignore the hatred, ignorance and one-sided conservatism fueled by the Fox News network and aim for equality and fairness for all, including the ending of racial segregation and stereotyping.
Angela, so experienced but can't see it…or in denial to eat! I tested impact of cognitive/subliminal message. I muted & showed first few secs showing front cover to my 14 year old asking her "what do you think of this?" She pointed at the black man and said "He looks like King Kong". That's the intended impact...all well and good producing it then trying to deny intended outcome. Impact achieved. Angela & James please take history lessons from Lamont-then you could complain!
why do white people think they the only full blooded americans????????????..lebron is ok with it because hes getting so much money from every witch way nothing realy matters..the black chic on here is stupid why was she even there?????
black women wont find it offsive because black women dont care or need for black men issues they down play us men in there own race and try to tell us that we are no good and will date white men black women down play there own men lets face it femnism in the black race is forced on us cuz black women always have somthing bad to say about black men
@ANDREW26101 I agree SOME black women have been promised a white Knight to save them if they burn bridges with black men but...... They did not mention that white women out number white men by millions as well good luck most white men perfer white women.
It's a issue with black and white couples, but it's a two sided party to resolve the tension. The couple know the issue so they must accept the critizicing (spelling sorry) but also the critics must accept that they take enough crap. Mind your business and they mind theirs..otherwise it seems to get too technical and deep.
I'm sorry...but that was an excellent example by the professor regarding video vixens. It made the other 2 contradict their stance on Lebron not feeling compromised. I personally don't mind the cover, although it does resemble King Kong and Jane. Giselle didn't look she was the queen of anything; only a prize of the beast. It took me a minute to even know that was her. If the 2 like it I love it.
I can understand how the image could be interpreted as racist, however I feel that Dr. Hill is being overly sensitive and finding racism in something harmless . The image of Lebron James is meant to represent his persona, which is that of a skilled basketball player. His body stance and agressive expression is not a racist caricature of black people but rather an expression of the energy that he brings to the court.
Ooops! My fault people. I didn't know that Clooney and Gear appeared with women. However, putting the model in a dress worn by Naomi Watts in King Kong and Lebron holding her in his hand (note: not in his arms like a man would hold a woman)like how Kong held his leading ladies; doesn't help the image.
This woman is a product of how the white slave masters; through rape and violence, has twisted the black woman's psyche. It is unbelievable that she doesn't see the racist motive behind the cover. My question is this, Why did he have to pose with a women in the shot in the first place? Why didn't they give him the cover shot by himself, being the first Black man to grace the cover? mmmmmm.
George Clooney and Richard Gear also appeared on the cover with women. Vogue magazine is primarily, but not exclusively, geared toward a female readership.
Angela McGlowan needs to ditch the Valley girl voice, look in the mirror and remember that she's a black person. Black sellouts like this who've got the IQ of walnut should be lined up against the wall and shot.

Yeah, I know that FOX have to think twice before they invite Marc on their network. lol
shyshotcaller27 1 year ago
When fox news folks have someone on as their guest who is opposed to whatever the topic is on; when they know the guest is going to be trouble, they simply out/over talk them. He made a valid point about the video chic seeing nothing wrong with what they do in a rap video, and compared it to Lebron on Vogue and they had no answer for him, and actually they proved his point and didn't even realize it, and just started both yelling at him. Damn dimwits.

BJ6624 1 year ago
1. ) Ummm, she is actually "white" - she's Brazilian, of Caucasian European ancestry... duh?!
2.) "You're black, and you're black... how is it possible that you two could have such diametrically opposing view points?!? I mean, we ignorant white FOX NEWS pundits feel more comfortable when we can conveniently categorize people by their outward appearance... it's easier that way."
Dr. Hill was the only intelligent person on that segment.

so right. African American always depict a negative image and this bitch (I don't think she is African American) disagree.
Dramactica 1 year ago
@calebmallen she was probably coming from the point that white in USA is different from being white in Brazil. There are still whites in america that dont consider anyone in a continent of color white. for instance it's very hard to find a indigenous Argentine of color due to the white spanish conquest of that country, yet i guarantee you 9 out of 10 white americans will says those people arent white. same with Brazil.
mic187x2 1 year ago
Your very unperceptive or in denial, if you look at that picture and you don't see King Kong like imagery. Go to google and type in "Destroy this mad brute" and compare that image to the cover of Vogue and tell me it doesn't look the same. Mark also makes a great point about the women in rap videos. Just because the people being objectified agree with it doesn't make it ok lol

If the 2 like it I love it.
phantomboyjt 1 year ago
I can understand how the image could be interpreted as racist, however I feel that Dr. Hill is being overly sensitive and finding racism in something harmless . The image of Lebron James is meant to represent his persona, which is that of a skilled basketball player. His body stance and agressive expression is not a racist caricature of black people but rather an expression of the energy that he brings to the court.
CrazyMongo 1 year ago
@CrazyMongo him holding a white woman has nothing whatsoever to do with basketball. if that's the case, then he should be on the cover alone.

Ooops! My fault people. I didn't know that Clooney and Gear appeared with women. However, putting the model in a dress worn by Naomi Watts in King Kong and Lebron holding her in his hand (note: not in his arms like a man would hold a woman)like how Kong held his leading ladies; doesn't help the image.
kevlaw74 1 year ago
This is ridiculous.
TampaRed 1 year ago
This woman is a product of how the white slave masters; through rape and violence, has twisted the black woman's psyche. It is unbelievable that she doesn't see the racist motive behind the cover. My question is this, Why did he have to pose with a women in the shot in the first place? Why didn't they give him the cover shot by himself, being the first Black man to grace the cover? mmmmmm.
kevlaw74 1 year ago
@kevlaw74
George Clooney and Richard Gear also appeared on the cover with women. Vogue magazine is primarily, but not exclusively, geared toward a female readership.
