@EigenX7 I bought it on ebay a few years ago along with R-Type Delta. You can also download R-Types on PSN, but I had a problem with input lag on my TV, which is why I bought the actual disk (to play on my SDTV).
I assigned the R1 button as my autofire so that it would be like when I was playing Final.
ive had this game for a week & i love it, tho either im really crap at games or r types is one of the hardest games ever! prob a bit of both. checkout truxton if you like this
Hey man it is impressive the ammount of effort you have gone to including important notes for each stage and it shows that the game has depth and you have made the most of it! I have just purchased R-types and its in the mail now.. Thankyou for these helpful posts and i cant wait for the challenge!

@EigenX7 R-Types has a rapid fire button, which saves your thumb from doing most of the work.

I've had that R-Types game for a while! I've never managed to get past stage four in R-Type though.
