I just got the SX SST57 about a month ago. You can't really find a better guitar for $99 brand new. It's easily comparable to the MIM Strat, except that the 13" radius on the SX's vintage-style neck is easier for playing solos than the Fender's 9.25" IMO. It sounds just like a Strat too.
I have been learning on my own completely getting everything from youtube and that was the first scale I learned and didnt undrstand the relavence of it or any scale for that mater and this vid just helped me alot! Thank you!!! I practice the blues scale in A which has one extra note then this one and the G major scale everyday does anyone have a sugestion of any other important scales to learn, its all apreciated!
@Johnnnybgoode Yes i got one the same as the one in the video and a natural maple coloured one with bird inlays on the neck, not sure if they still do those. lovely guitars and a reasonable price. Heavy solid well made, lovely sound and open to great customisation with coil cuts, Nice hipshot type PRS style tremolo too.
The things mcarthy is showing here are for beginners, and Intermediate guitarist. Pentatonic's are part of a of any guitarist training reguardless of style of music.
I read a quot from Eddie Van Halen once in one of the rare interviews he did years ago. He said simply. Music is just sound that sounds good.
hi rockhouse its you know who. great job with everything you do. thanks for being the best learning series out on the market today. looking for even more in the future.. (how much is enough?? just a little more!!)
dude i know him he banned me afrom their site due i was a member and then i got in an argument and zapp then i was gone and havent heard since so whatever
Sloppy picking and tapping. Ive seen his and doug marks' videos before and they all teach the right stuff, but it is disheartening to see that after all the work they put in, they are not even close to guys like malmsteen, greg howe, vai and the such. Ive actually seen better players in bar bands. Sorry, thats just an honest criticism.
I didnt expect them to be as good as Malmsteen and Vai, I said he is not even close. I was merely trying to say that I expect a little better technique from someone playing so long and teaching others. This guy isnt bad by any means, its just that he plays like a lot of people i know that have put in 3 years of playing with serious practice.
These guys are focusing on teaching OTHERS to play from the ground up- not showing of fancy licks to prove that THEY can play. I used some Metal Method tapes and they DO work. Also a guy like Doug Marks is older and was influenced by a different generation of guitarist.
I don't expect them to "show off" using their "fancy licks". The end solo is about as flash as this guy gets. Anyways, this guy knows his stuff. Why not get a more inspiring player to play it. Inspirtation is the best teacher. I have the same gripe when companies demo their gear with what I consider intermediate at best guitar players. I want to hear pros through that stuff!!!
What is the name song by John Mcarthy play at the end of the video?

$99 vs. $499 it's really no contest.
