  • So what are those arm movements he does before stepping and striking with his elbow?

And damn, listen to those step-ins.

  • @Rainoviews Those arm movements in the beginning are like a wind up to build power I think.

  • wast of time

  • Imagine if a dude built like Bolo Yeung did that martial art!

those elbows would hurt like a mother fucker...

  • i learned shotokan karate and kung fu during my student life, so i'm enjoying this video

  • read about Itosu senseis history

  • what u motherfucker know about shotokan?????

go train hard stupid, stop read this stupid books.here in brazil the japanese people tell the real story.

  • Japanese friends from college warned me, that if you claim to be a martial arts stylist in Japan, someone will want to test your skills. Specially if its a style they have never heard of before; Gichin Funakoshi never fought in a street fight, however, carefully supervised "tests of skill" were common. Funakoshi's Karate only made it into Japan because he was able to either beat some of Kano's best students, or maybe he even held his own against Kano himself.

  • u really beliv funakoshi never fought on streets???

u hould read some more...his master took him to fight in streets to get the belt and train his skills!

  • "his master took him to street fights to get his belt".......karate didnt use "belts" for ranking or even a "gi" till it was adopted from judo in the 1920's wayyyyyyyyyy after funakoshi was old lmao if your going to bullshit on a comment to sound smart at least know your history lol and funakoshi sensei even stated in his karate-do kyohan in the 1920s that he never fought in real life b4 and used his karate as a life style not a fighting style....lol

  • The very best Japanese Judoka aren't always tournament competitors; there is an unwritten rule in Japan, that if your martial arts style can't beat Judo, then they're not interested. That this style got the Japanese's attention, means that a Chinese Baijiquan stylist must have badly beaten a Judoka in a test of skill.

  • Two words: Bull shit.

  • This is Chinese changchun baji !

    Not Japanese !

    The performer is Tanjitang!

  • Why do you remove this comment?

  • Awesome posture and power generation. I haven't seen that wind up flurry before, I wonder if it is unique to style they practise in Japan?

  • for me there are two chinese martial artsstrong and real work:wing chun(i train about a 2 years)and baji.the aplications are really effective.cant talk the same bout shaolin or alike styles.

  • Chinese or Japanese, this old man is a tank.

  • yeah really; try a "double leg take down" or a choke hold when he doesn't appear to have a neck and see what ahppens.

  • this is japasese baji, hakkyokuken.its more powerfull,i belive.

  • No, it's Huo style baji quan. "Japanese" baji is exactly like Chinese baji... it's not more or less powerful, it's just the master moved to Japan ;) Hakkyokuken is the Japanese name for it, or maybe it was just renamed that for Virtua Fighter (I don't speak Japanese, so I don't know :p).

  • Wow, that's a very racist view. I don't think you know the first thing about genetics, and shouldn't be making such ignorant comments. Talk about stupid.

  • lol let's talk about "genetic" in a racist way. i've been on a japanese navy destroyer once and i'm taller than every1 on that ship and i'm chinese. my 14 year old cousin is tallker than their captain. hmm japanese are very powerful indeed.

  • BTW, as you may know the Chinese have the tallest man in the world right now, but he's actually Mongolian and as we all may know, the Japanese, Koreans are very close relatives of the Mongolians, while the Chinese are quite related closely to the Tibetans genetically.

The fact is this is a youtube man-war here, BTW I do Chinese martial arts, ect, I just don't like to step on the territory of what people are more powerful. I'm just as short as any Chineseor Japanese guy, barely over 5 feet.

  • lol i like that. I would like to see what they do with wing chun.

  • B.S., i've seen chinese equal to or better than him. As far as more powerful, its yet to be seen. Outwardly visible power is a contradiction in chinese martial arts, especially internal. Japanese verison of internal is good but still too rigid for proper fajing.

  • btw after looking at all the vids of the man it may be that the sifu here is chinese. If japanese are more powerful then why are they importing internal arts there. because during the sino japanese war they were losing to inernal mostly and some external. If you want to see external power look up hung ga under lau ga leung. Show me a japanese that can match the man.

  • Warning: performer was Tan Jitang!!!! A Chinese fellow!!! It depends on the practicioner. May kung fu live because it is universal and beyond ethnocentrism.

  • @Bajifan That's odd considering Ba Ji is a Muslim martial art. Seems like its founder was very focused on getting the style across Asia.

  • hakkyoku-ken its the same thing as chinese baji quan: the 8 way punch.virtua its a good game but yu suzuki dont want to change the traditions of china, which he love.

  • err.. bajifan's right, it's just a translation of the name. As for power/hardness, from my understanding, baji starts out hard but tends to get 'softer' with time, should the practitioner wish it.

  • master tan ji tang!! huo's baji if i not wrong.

  • It says "baji japan" so I'm guessing this is one of the teachers that ended up in Japan ;) There's other baji quan teacher's scattered around the U.S. though (a few here in Ohio).

  • Good day, I would like to enquire where can I learn Baji Quan from the master above. Thanks

  • thanks for posting.

    4. elevating the elbow to enter the centerline by force.

    5. hitting with the hip requires the hip and the waist in unison/harmony.
