@AaronShowbiz doki doki panic came first then america got there super mario 2 which is sorta the same thing as doki doki panic. While thats happening in america, Japan got there super mario 2. In america the japanese super mario bros 2 is called super mario the lost levels.
@AaronShowbiz The true SM2 was released in Japan. When they did tests with American kids it was too hard. They then took Doki Doki panic and traded out the characters with Mario characters and release it in the US as Super Mario 2. Later the true SM2 was released in the US as Lost Levels.
?yume kojo doki doki panic and the super mario usa uh la jpn commercial? LOL you know what i am XD remember that thing about why are you watching Jappenes commercial you ****er?
people say SMB2 is a "rip off" of DokiDoki panic! that is entirely not true, 'cause there both from nintendo. therefor, miyamoto can do whatever the hell he wants with it.
That the Japanese thought it would be too hard for Americans is pretty insulting. Why would it be too hard for us? No matter what the reason is, it will paint us as inferior.
@captainmcspanky Well, Doki Doki Panic was originally being developed as a co-op Mario game, but was retooled when Fuji TV asked Nintendo to make a commemorative game for their Yume Kojo 87 Festival. The game was produced by Shigeru Miyamoto, and in fact, he actually did a lot more for this game than he did for Lost Levels. So that, and the fact that, as I said, the game was always intended to be a Mario game, makes Shy Guy a pretty genuine Mario character, if you ask me.
@Nintendoking156 Actually, it was a matter of the developers in Japan believing the "real" Super Mario Bros. 2 would be too difficult for American gamers, so they repackaged Doki Doki Panic with Mario, Luigi, Toad, and Peach and sold it to the US as the new SMB game. The original SMB2 did eventually come to the US in the Super Mario All Stars compilation for SNES as "Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels."
@EnriqueLovinLife It wasn't the Japanese developers thinking that, it was Nintendo of America that thought that (combined with the fact that they thought it was too similar to SMB1). Regardless of that, though, Doki Doki Panic was originally meant to be a co-op Mario game, anyway, but was retooled when Fuji TV asked Nintendo to make a game to commemorate their Yume Kojo 87 Festival. Shigeru Miyamoto was actually more involved with the production of Doki Doki Panic than he was with Lost Levels.
why is there so much fuss over what was made first hands down it was mario 2 cuz i know the dates for both games im just surprised that doki doki panic was really approved by nintendo maybe they were just out of ideas :l
The original Super Mario Bros 2 in Japan (Later called Lost Levels in the U.S.) was very hard. So rather than release a frustrating mediocre sequel to the U.S. They took the Japanese game Doki Doki Panic and changed the main characters to Mario characters and released it as Super Mario Bros II in the U.S. It eventually came out in Japan as well under the name Super Mario Bros U.S.A.
@Luigi84289 no it was not after super mario usa or 2 it was before it because they made doki doki panic first and super mario 2 or usa is just a marioish doki doki panic
You'd think that after Legend of the Mystical Ninja, game companies would realize that Americans also liked this eccentric stuff.

@Nonsensei436
Not Hard, but not appealing. It's marketing nothing else.
Americans often want "new" stuff so SMB2 (jap) was to similar from the 1st. That's why.
