I have to say, every NIN album has totally engaged me 100% except "With teeth" which I was disappointed with, and to be honest, I kinda blamed myself for a while because I though Trent could do no wrong.

Then I heard "Year Zero" and was blown away totally and all was right with my world once more. I think "With teeth" was a necessary evil, like St Anger for Metallica.

A difficult halfway point between the old to the new. Y0 was the first NIN album that wasn't from the first person perspective which is a huge leap. All previous albums were from Trent's point of view, since "With Teeth" Trent has expanded his horizons massively, left it behind and gone for a wider concept. this isn't degrading previous works, "Pretty Hate Machine" is a masterpiece and always will be, but I think there are even greater works to come.

Interesting, I found that the songs on "With Teeth" were OK but just a bit lacklustre in delivery and there remixes were much better. But overall it just appeared that Year 0 had definitely gotten Trent's interest and he was more dedicated to writing that than "With Teeth". This of course gave a better album overall. But everyone has their favourites
