You're mostly right about the cheat curl, certainly the guy in the vid has no clue. But as I read it in the modern encyclopedia of modern bodybuilding (by schwarzenegger of course) the cheat curl is not primarily used to push out a few more reps.
Instead it changes the place where maximum force of muscle contraction is achieved, ordinarily that's when your arm makes a 90 deg angle therefor you can't make it past that point with heavier weights, however if you make a tiny (emphasize tiny) and controlled swing you can make it past that point and then the second half of the movement will require a much greater effort of the biceps than it would with a normal curl.
@MrBeefyMorgan Pal, google the pic of Arnold whilst he is cheat curling 276lbs, and he is almost horizontal to the floor. I dont know how he hasnt had a back operation, but its obviously a good movement.

You MUST cheat if you are not doing steroids to get big. Your body is adaptive, so if you are putting 200lbs+ on your biceps, you can bet your ass your biceps will adapt to that.

the whole point of doing a cheat curl is so you enphasize on the 'negative rep' as our muscles are much stronger there but you have to keep the momentum going down not like this guy,its ok to cheat or someone spoting you on the positive rep but as long as you are able to hold the weight on the negative rep or else its a useless excercise and is only risking an injury.....! like this form not there is no contraction to the muscle fibers so your not engaging a hypertrophic movement!!

That is where they started from...it`s a fact!!, know you will be overloading the biceps at 90 degrees!! but with a lot of help from the back and momentum...

Several professional BB have told me cheating like this is the best way to add bulk to your arms. They also said reps with good form when you're not cheating is the way to get more vascular and defined biceps.
i think the cheat curl should be reserved as a way to further push urself once uv exhausted with strict curl form i also think thats wat arnold ment when he praised them either way strong lift impressive.
The title always said cheat curl mate and the info was uploaded at the same time i uploaded the vid, which is what i do with all of my vids. If you had the read the info it categorically states why i cheat curl. But at the end of the day who gives a fuck, certainly not me. Thats why i put my vids on here to open myself to criticism and read all of the bullshit, it really makes for good entertainment. I would say though, if you want to submit an argument, use a valid one and dont just make it up

No there both curls, just not a strict curl, it is a cheat curl.
Strict curl = all arms, no back lean or forward swing.
Cheat curl = cheating to heave up bigger weights, forward leaning, back swinging, swinging the upper arms a lot. Cheat curls can be effective for building bigger biceps as it gets the body use to bigger weight, they seem to work for baldyholly here, magnus samuelson does them and he has won the worlds strongest man.
Even if it was a clean and jerk, a 254 reverse clean and jerk is also an impressive feat of strength, I didn't notice he changed the title, but then again I didn't notice the video back then, even if he claimed it was strict, he at least finally admitted it was a cheat curl, there are so many people claim they can curl huge weights strict only to see them leaning forward and backwards a mile, and I do agree with you J.T. Hall was pretty good curl form, I can only strict curl 130.
The title says cheat curl for a reason, he performed the weight cheating it, if he did it with strict proper form it would be called a strict curl then, this guy at least actually admits he cheats on this set despite people who claim they curl strictly with cheat form like baldyholly, also cheat curls have helped lifters like strongmanjohn, magnus samuelson, and arnold get results in there respected fields.
I know you at least have the balls to admit when you cheat, quite a bit of people with worse form then your cheat curls sometimes claim there form is strict with an absurd amount of weight, I honestly don't get the cheat curl haters group, if they hate cheat curls why do they watch it, cheat is in the title so just avoid it problem solved! Then they can continue to go watch those people curling like 40 pounds with strict form impressive stuff right?
A cheat curl is just as the name implies a curl where your cheating, there is no proper way to cheat at it, you get the weight up by any means necessary, there are probably safer ways and more effective ways to do it but not a proper way to cheat.
Saying there is a proper way to cheat on this exercise is like saying there is a proper way to cheat on a test, there is no right way to cheat you will use any method to get a good grade whether be notes, looking at someone else test etc
He didn't "curl" that weight once. He used angular momentum to "propel" the bar. I'd like to see what he can do with a straight bar and correct form. I can curl 120 lbs. for 15 reps. I think I might be able to do what this man has done, at blatant consequence to my back.

i'm doing 100lbs curls. 5 sets 10 reps. Been doing it for a little over 4 months. first 2 months, same weight, i did cheat curls. Everyone does it. I always get hammered about form. But i need my muscles to adjust to the weight. Now, as of today, i do the same routine but i do perfect form, without swinging or tilting my body. Shit, i even put my heels together. Its a method and trust me, if you happen to do it you will evolve. So there is nothing wrong with this.
Nice man! Cheat curls are a great way too build strength. They have helped me alot in strength gains. I am 17, and can cheat curl an 150 pound dumbell at 165. I have a video of me doing a 140 at 155 when I was 16 if you want to see it. But good gob though! Keep it up!

. power is what you need in the real world or in sports, mma, etc. cheat curls will build greater pulling power like yanking someone from their collar and throwing to your backside.

U obviously need alot of strength 2 even cheat that much w8 up, That being said it is a good quick way to F*ck ur back up and ur bicept are a very small muscle group that dnt require a qrtr of that w8.....!!! Now im not criticizing the man in the clip but if he'd use half the w8 and do full reps with a good negative, it would have alot more impact on the bi's......!!!! This man is strong as a bull though.

the whole point of doing a cheat curl is so you enphasize on the 'negative rep' as our muscles are much stronger there but you have to keep the momentum going down not like this guy,its ok to cheat or someone spoting you on the positive rep but as long as you are able to hold the weight on the negative rep or else its a useless excercise and is only risking an injury.....! like this form not there is no contraction to the muscle fibers so your not engaging a hypertrophic movement!!

@MegaColdasice it also should overload biceps when arms are at just about 90-degree position. If you do a cheat curl right, you should feel like you're squeezing every bit of your arms at this position.
This, plus negative is the whole point of cheat curls.

@NosferatuAaacaado weell, basically, it was one of arnold`s favourite excercises....the reason being is you use your back and shoulder muscle to do more reps to kill the biceps after doing with strict form. That is where they started from...it`s a fact!!, know you will be overloading the biceps at 90 degrees!! but with a lot of help from the back and momentum...

Several professional BB have told me cheating like this is the best way to add bulk to your arms. They also said reps with good form when you're not cheating is the way to get more vascular and defined biceps.

The title always said cheat curl mate and the info was uploaded at the same time i uploaded the vid, which is what i do with all of my vids. If you had the read the info it categorically states why i cheat curl. But at the end of the day who gives a fuck, certainly not me. Thats why i put my vids on here to open myself to criticism and read all of the bullshit, it really makes for good entertainment. I would say though, if you want to submit an argument, use a valid one and dont just make it up

No there both curls, just not a strict curl, it is a cheat curl.
Strict curl = all arms, no back lean or forward swing.
Cheat curl = cheating to heave up bigger weights, forward leaning, back swinging, swinging the upper arms a lot. Cheat curls can be effective for building bigger biceps as it gets the body use to bigger weight, they seem to work for baldyholly here, magnus samuelson does them and he has won the worlds strongest man.

Even if it was a clean and jerk, a 254 reverse clean and jerk is also an impressive feat of strength, I didn't notice he changed the title, but then again I didn't notice the video back then, even if he claimed it was strict, he at least finally admitted it was a cheat curl, there are so many people claim they can curl huge weights strict only to see them leaning forward and backwards a mile, and I do agree with you J.T. Hall was pretty good curl form, I can only strict curl 130.

The title says cheat curl for a reason, he performed the weight cheating it, if he did it with strict proper form it would be called a strict curl then, this guy at least actually admits he cheats on this set despite people who claim they curl strictly with cheat form like baldyholly, also cheat curls have helped lifters like strongmanjohn, magnus samuelson, and arnold get results in there respected fields.

I know you at least have the balls to admit when you cheat, quite a bit of people with worse form then your cheat curls sometimes claim there form is strict with an absurd amount of weight, I honestly don't get the cheat curl haters group, if they hate cheat curls why do they watch it, cheat is in the title so just avoid it problem solved! Then they can continue to go watch those people curling like 40 pounds with strict form impressive stuff right?

A cheat curl is just as the name implies a curl where your cheating, there is no proper way to cheat at it, you get the weight up by any means necessary, there are probably safer ways and more effective ways to do it but not a proper way to cheat.
Saying there is a proper way to cheat on this exercise is like saying there is a proper way to cheat on a test, there is no right way to cheat you will use any method to get a good grade whether be notes, looking at someone else test etc

He didn't "curl" that weight once. He used angular momentum to "propel" the bar. I'd like to see what he can do with a straight bar and correct form. I can curl 120 lbs. for 15 reps. I think I might be able to do what this man has done, at blatant consequence to my back.

i'm doing 100lbs curls. 5 sets 10 reps. Been doing it for a little over 4 months. first 2 months, same weight, i did cheat curls. Everyone does it. I always get hammered about form. But i need my muscles to adjust to the weight. Now, as of today, i do the same routine but i do perfect form, without swinging or tilting my body. Shit, i even put my heels together. Its a method and trust me, if you happen to do it you will evolve. So there is nothing wrong with this.

Nice man! Cheat curls are a great way too build strength. They have helped me alot in strength gains. I am 17, and can cheat curl an 150 pound dumbell at 165. I have a video of me doing a 140 at 155 when I was 16 if you want to see it. But good gob though! Keep it up!

keep liftin them wheights cos it doesn't matter what the doubters think the lads from the M gym kna ya can do it cos we watch ya day in day out, remember all you serious trainers and those that do just for the fun of it know your limits then push a bit harder. Thats what you find size and strength comes to us all in different forms and ways some want size some want strength but its never gona work the same for everyone how you acheive it is up to the individual.
