In the end I might pick up my guitar and listen to myself sing. A little Elvis-like, if you don't mind. At the end of all that I feel very satisfied. But my girlfriend is still nowhere near.
I don't know why you guys are arguing about which version is best or which singer does this song better. Its so clear cut. Its a tie between Jose Feliciano and Allison Moyet. And if you're tired of listening to them both as the case with me I tend to play each song until my ears can't take it anymore before moving on to the next song, you might seek refuge in Dusty's version, a little jazzy take of the song. If I get tired of all three I might move on to Sting's mellowed version. Aight?
I hate when people say'The best singer ever" about anybody...That's just YOUR opinion which doesn't make it so. I love Johnny, hes great, but as Hermeterec
said in another post, Jose Filiciano's version is the best I have heard and that's just my opinion which doesn't make it so, OK?
@harpingo Its just what most people say about their favorite singer ,not to diminish all the other greats out there, ,,,,,,like you said its just an opinion, I'am smart enough to catch that ,even JM said himself there are others that are better, I sometimes say that because maybe that singer is a great match for me, Jose Filiciano is a wonderful singer ,no one can do "light my fire " like he does
My mother died 5 years ago but I remember when I was a very little girl us listening to Johnny together. I'm 61 now but great memories. Makes me cry they are still so vivid
the vocal is stunning and amazing, but the accompaniment, thought simple, totally works against the flow of the song and his performance. A capella would have been more effective.
The world doesn't know what it has missed, when they have only heard his hit singles and Christmas Albums. His interpretation and range, on all songs he sings, regardless of who sang it first, is amazing!
I was just being thankfull tha i have lived through the best singers ever. Bennet, Orbison, Streisand, Sam Cooke, Dione Warwick, Shirley Bassie. Cleo Laine. KD lang and you just reminded me of another Jonny mathis. Thank You.
Thank you for posting this beautiful video.

from Jose Sepulveda......yes, Johnny is the greatest "pop" singer on the planet, but the greatest version of this song is the one by Jose' Feliciano!
