Meeting Derren Brown - Svengali, Brighton, Mar 2011

My boyfriend and I are in the background of this video! Also, we left just after the guy who he got drunk @Mr Drhugh and as we got to the end of the street he looked at his ticket which Derren had signed for him, and fell about laughing and suddenly all silly. It was immediately obvious that Derren had written the old trigger word on the ticket. Very funny, wish I'd got it on camera!

@Xx3anna3xX Just wait at the stage door after the show and usually Derren will come out and sign stuff, or pose for photos etc. Obviously if he's in a rush, saving his voice or if there are a lot of people then he'll be rather quick. But he'll always make the time & effort to meet everyone who's there.....he's lovely like that. :-)

@xtrilo360 Every time I've been to see Derren the theatre is packed out. The people waiting at the stage door of course, can vary from venue to venue.

@MSHYPERPANTS I've met him a few times now but mainly by waiting at the stage door after shows as he usually comes out and does signings. I did also meet him at the Cheltenham literary festival last year where he was launching his latest book. :-)

@MSHYPERPANTS Yep, he sure does. His entire show is based around audience participation. I actually saw Svengali again last night in London (first time since the previews & this video was made) and it really is a great show. Wonderful! (And Derren was as lovely as ever afterwards).

@xXV1tal3Xx The first night I went at Brighton Derren did pose for photos, but the last night he didn't. Just depends in how much of a rush he is and how many people are waiting to meet him (there didn't seem anymore than 20 people at the most waiting at the stage door at Brighton on the nights I was there, and some of them hadn't even seen the show).

And for what you said, I do always try to not be too 'gushy' (it's not really my way anyway), but I did think I waffled on a little bit here, but maybe that was better than standing there with nothing to say at all. @missfatimazahid If he's well and not rushing off somewhere then he usually comes out afterwards to sign. He'll pretty much make sure he'll meet everyone who is there, but it does all depend how much time he has etc. Sometimes being in front gives you less time cos he's trying to meet others who are behind you, and sometimes behind at the back isn't good cos he just may dash off before he gets to you. Just see how it goes on the night. :-)

@AndysEdits If Derren comes out afterwards to sign then it's very easy. Just go round to the stage door after the show has ended and wait for him. I've been lucky cos so far every time I've gone round to the stage door to meet him, he's come out.  But obviously this isn't always the case if he has prior engagements or if his throat is bad. Derren came to Norwich on 16th april which was my birthday and I was lucky enough to be the one he got up on stage that night for his big finish! He is incredible!

@leedodsy Without giving too much away, it is fairly visual yes. There is a lot you need to see on stage. Obviously I don't know how good your seats are or how bad your eyesight is, but you do tend to get everything described by Derren along the way.

@purewish On the night I talked to him there weren't that many. When Derren appeared everyone crowds towards him so it looks more. But by the time he got to me there weren't that many around, 5-6 perhaps.

@coasterollie They were £5 with Enigma. Yeah there's lots of content in it, not much colour (esp photos), it's very monotoned, sort of thing. But nicely put together (esp love the old-fashioned ads placed throughout it).
