I ran across these guys surfing soul music and really liked their sound. I live on the east coast but a special place for this kind of music. We call the R&B sounds beach music cause it has been played on the Grand Strand @ Myrlte Beach since the 50s. R&B has never died & is alive and well from VA Beach to Jax FL but Myrtle Beach is the Mecca & Repository for "Beach Music." Sadly rock music is seeing some bad times now. Quit buying shitty music because that's the only way crap will stop.
Grew up in Montebello..and remember these guys from way back when..at times played at Cantwell Hi...man! good time to grow up..I would hang out with my bud that worked the small liquor store across the street, back then "Eastland Savings" on Whittier Blvd..wow..that was long ago and I left that place long time ago! But many a memory..
I prefer my uncle Charles Munoz voice to Willie G! My uncle had the range to make these songs really special! He replaced Little Willie G, as lead singer... remember?
OMG...my sister and I used to follow this band when we were in our late teens....the Big Union, Little Union, Kennedy Center, etc. Brings back lots of memories....1965 ish.
thank-You SO-MUCH for posting-This ... there isn't-Much as-far-as Video Available regarding THEE MIDNITERS ... I would LOVE to see a Video Clip of the Group performing during the Mid-1960s !!!
I accompanied (Bass/vocals) Lil Willie G., both in San Jose and L.A., back in the mid 80's, when I was with a gospel band by the name of New Life. It's been over 20 years since I last saw him. Although I'm a young buck (44) in comparison to those who lived through the era when Thee Midniters were it, I grew up in Norwalk and recall my older bros. bumping their music. I've since recorded music in the Freestyle realm (Make Believe/NVS-1990s), with Lil Willie to thank for the inspiration.
Born n raised in East LA..who didnt grow up hearing these sounds..going to sounds of Music on Whittier BLVd!! Oh there is no place like EAST LA NO PLACE!!!
oh my God . . . as soon as I saw this I started to cry . . . the first thing I thought of was PBS . . . yes, why not . . PBS . . why can't we have our Latino Legends immortalized tambien . . . just like the fabulous doo wop and oldies but goodies. Can you imagine (all of us) rushing to buy them - I personally am age 66 going on 67 and stay young with pride listening to our music . . . and to see you're still so fine looking - all mellowed out . . love you...this is going in my favorites.
