Ok so Rabin proves he can play fast but that's about it. What he plays is otherwise bland. Sorry, but Howe created a sound and style that IS Yes. Everything else is pale imitation.
ok, i really dont know so correct me if wrong but that was rabin shredding that crazy solo at the being of the video right? iv been listening the old school yes, close to the edge era stuff mostly and was really put off by owner of a lonely heart. to get a good feel of yes with rabin what should i listen to?
@shadowmalik009 Try both the live and studio versions of "Endless Dream" & "Real Love" from "Talk", also "Shoot High Aim Low" from "Big Generator", "Miracle Of Life" & "Lift Me Up" from "Union" are just some of Trevor's most epic, artistic pieces with Yes that I think you will very much appreciate for their musicality, technical musicianship, longer stretched out almost "Classic" Yes feel, and are very inspiring, spiritual, sublime works of art & music (IMO).
@shadowmalik009 I'dd say listen to the Talk album..if you don't like the shredding too much Talk is your best choice.Trevor is so melodic on that album...one of my favorite Yes album.
"Yesterday, a morning came, a smile upon your face. Caesars place, morning glory, silly human, silly human race. On a sailing ship to nowhere, leaving any place. If the summer changed to winter yours is no disgrace. Yours is no disgrace!"
Would someone please clarify what venue this is? I have this on VHS and I swear the makeshift label says Japan on it, I surely know it is not. I also have the Denver show and this is not that as well. Where and when was this filmed?
@jsb779 To my knowledge it is Denver, there were several mixes/edits of the footage and a portion of the Denver show was broadcast on Japanese televsion (hence the subtitles). This one, which is referred to as the "Rabin edit," is the one which was broadcast.
I'm a huge Trevor fan....but who says that Steve Howe didn't get enough "props"? You wouldn't have Trevor, or almost any of the other prog guitarists if it wasn't for Steve Howe. Howe, Fripp and Hackett were the foundation of progressive rock. Maybe you can throw David Gilmour in there as well. Ok, jimi Hendrix....too.
Trevor did change Yes...and for the purists...that wasn't right. I get it....I just don't agree...I think he added a much needed reboot to Yes.
Trevor Rabin is awesome, but Steve Howe didn't get enough props in this video or any of the other Union videos. Too bad, as he made the early Yes what it was....

Outstanding rendition of a classic. I love the fact that all these guys could keep their egos in check to produce such a quality product as this.
