  • 1969 December entered the army.

Remembered this song which brought a smile to my face!

Enlisted, what was I thinking then! One of my bright ideas.

Lots of great music and good times,

  • My name is Rosemary...

    I lke this sing.

  • Suchhh a great song .!!

  • Top song, remember it well..

  • @2:03 lol, wut?

  • My grandpa still sings this song to me... Ohh my name is Rosemarie =)

  • OMG... this was my favorite song when I was in my High school days.

  • The Drummer looks like Rick off of American choppers lol thats awsome :)

  • What 34 people could not like this song ???

  • Late 60's Classic !!

  • This is absolutely beautiful. Played with such sensitivity, great melody -so simple and lovely harmonies. One of the best pop songs ever I think . Love Flying Machines version of Baby Make It Soon also ... Thank you guys x

  • @Edman910 Got that right! I was a kid when this came out and my sisters name was

Rose Marie Wingle. I thought it was cool that her name was the same! I never saw this video before. The guy singing has good stage presence unlike the dancing talent mocking buffoons of today. It was standard in those days that you needed to have a signature voice and unique sound and these guys did have it. No one in music today

could write a song like that--it has artistic beauty! A musical treasure!

  • Made it to Number 1 in Detroit /Windsor. CKLW made sure of that.

  • Quelle jolie chanson!!!! merci beaucoup....

  • i absolutely love this song.... but the video looks like that of the RING.

  • i'm 22 at the present time, but i first heard this song when i was 12 and fell in love with it. i haven't heard it in a long time, but i was listening to a music channel on tv with my dad just now and this song came up, so i felt a need to find it again. thanks for the upload :)

  • THIS SONG IS WANDERFULL,REMENMBER WHEN WAS YONG IN RIO DE JANEIRO !! AT THE CARNIVAL "71" HITH MY GILR AND I KISS HER SO MUCH, SO MUSH , BUT I´M NOT SAPATÃO, I`M A WOMAN IS THE TRUE K K K K K ..

  • Can anyone tell me the names of ALL 4 (four) of the Guy's here on the video? Such a GREAT song. Our music of the 60's is the BEST! So great to be a teenager then, times were so simple then compared to now. We knew what music was!!! Not the Hip-Hop & Rap of today.

  • @jandogg55 the lead singer is Tony Newman also lead singer of Pinkerton' s assorted colours who had a hit with " Mirror, mirror" written by Tony himself.

    The drummer is Paul Wilkinson.

  • My name isn't Rose Marie (that's actually my moms name), but this song always gets me feeling better whenever I'm down.

  • Smile a Little Smile for Me (Rose Marie) is a timeless piece of beauty that takes us back to 1969, the last year of America's innocense... to the time that Charlie Manson changed everything.

  • @lmt61251 actually America lost its innocents on Nov 22nd 1963 when the New World Order killed Kennedy and blamed Hoovers informant (Oswald) for the assassination. Kennedy was in the process of dissolving the Federal Reserve and having the treasury start to reprint real American currency instead of this worthless fiat garbage the Fed issues which is backed by nothing. Charles Manson is nothing compared to the mass murders names Baron Rothchild and David Rockefeller.

  • This song and Edison Lighthouse always confuse me...must be the Rosemarie, LOL

  • This song always brings me back to my childhood my father always sang the chorus to me smile a lil smile for me ROSEMARIE as that is the name he gave me

  • i used to play the 45 record of this song on my sears silvertone record player.

  • my bro and i love this song, hes 15 and im 12

  • @ColorfulWisdom Congratulations.

  • love this decade

  • O my God! This song was playing when we parked our camper that Friday, evening of July 1969. I hated going to that campground in NW Ohio every summer weekend I hated it until that partcular weekend in July '69 when I met Julie. We had parked over night as we did every Firday since June 13 and on Saturday morning, about 8:30am I got up a;nd first saw Julie. She was from an area Junior High as I would find out. Saturdays at the Campground pool would never be the same with Juliie.

  • @jeff62rey Isn't it amazing how these songs on Youtube trigger such nice memories? Some of them are almost painful because they remind me of how sweet and simple life could be back then, but it's great reading posts like yours.

  • see they had shit back then as well!

  • that is not hair! That is a HELMET!

  • i use to listen to this song when i was younger

  • 8th grade dance - 45s and a record player

All I can say on that

  • What Album did it come off of?

  • great

  • I was named after this song :)

  • beiber should take notes! thats all im going to say!...................oh and he does suck!

  • In my opion,1969 was the last year of great artists/songs.And I was born in 1961.Things were okay in the '70s and '80s,went down hill in the '90s and today crap sells.Lady GagMe and Beiber suck like a vacuum cleaner.Kids today don't know what good music is

  • My nani (grandma) used to sing this to me all the time, subbing "jujubee" for rosemarie, to make me feel better and on my birthday (today), she's been gone now for 20 years, so I come to youtube to listen to this version. Make sure to treasure your loved ones.

  • @jujubell40 - I remember hearing this song on the car radio when I was 7 yrs. old in 1969. My mom was taking me to have a surgery on my ears, and I was scared. It is kind of haunting to hear this beautiful song again. It does make me think of the loved ones that are gone since then...thank you...

  • @jujubell40 Aww..you sound just like me. My mom used to change it to "Kelley Marie" and I thought that was really the lyric until I got older. It's sad that they're gone but we are lucky we have good memories.

  • *sigh* This is a good tune...

  • THIS SONG IS TOO SHORT! XD

  • @MrHQfighter10 short but sweet....thats what i love about a tune in the 60's it was all about harmony good hooks and always about love and caring...except black sabbath thats a different story

  • @09prizefighter09 Yep, but its bad news for the replay button. :D

  • How can 32 people dislike this song?!

  • @fhc24 Taste is subjective and differs among large groups of people.

  • @fhc24 because 32 people are trolls :)

  • Cool video, heard the song while eating out. Came home with the song in my head ...humming it all the way.

Had to get on here and see who made it popular...Now I know

    loved it 4-16-2011

  • O my Love!Thank`s,SeaOvJapan!*****

  • Does anyone have more info/liner notes on "Maybe We've Been Loving Too Long" on the B side? Also a great tune.

  • My favorate song, glad i can still enjoy great music

  • That's all it takes. Well-written, great musical atmosphere and lyrics, simple chords and melody, but conceived in such a way that it is still totally unique and compelling. A little three-minute universe all its own. Yep, that's what '60s and '70s music was all about. That's why we love it, miss it, and can't help compare today's music with stuff like this. It's the Real Thing.

  • Pure gold. Thanks for sharing.

  • Thanks for sharing this song .,which was my favourite back in the70s

  • I love this song! 60's is the best! I hate today 's music: Kesha, Ushar, Eminem....ect

  • A( ̄O ̄)Z.He never come back now♪

  • good music lives forever. video or not

  • I like the song and all, but the video is just marginal. How on EARTH did this video manage to snag 791 comments? Is it that whole "six degrees of separation from Justin Bieber" thing?

BTW, notice the pleather jerkin with cloth sleeves on the lead singer? I had one of those back then - absolutely NO insulation value! If you went outside without a coat in the winter, it was as if you were holding a wet cloth against your chest. Good times....

  • My dad named me after this song. =) Rose Marie.

  • A( ̄O ̄)Z.You really should accept♪

  • music back then was music. now it is just ''techno'' electronic re-mixing. long live th 60's.

  • @sczesny46056 I long for more music like this; but each decade has it's own style!!

  • @MrQuefus Noone is hideous :) people's idea of beauty has changed. She is gorgeous. I wouldn't exactly want someone like Britney starring in this music video. It's such a beautiful song :)

  • @MrQuefus No.

  • @MrQuefus The girl is 1960's-vintage stark, raving, beautiful. Give it time son, you're just a little "confused." You'll start liking girls, you'll see...LOL!

  • A( ̄O ̄)Z.Oh,come on♪

  • LOVE this song...Thanks for posting it here. We have this and many many other Great tunes at TOMA'S TIMELESS TUNES, i hope you stop by and subscribe. I did subscribe to your channel. Thanks again. Tommy Toma.

  • Justin Beaver just another Donnie Osmond of today ,give him a chance,hl be gone sooner are later ,unless he decides to play an electric guitar and change the music back a few years back to Jimi..Who knows..

  • the lead singer looks like Dwight Schrute from The Office..lol

  • i got another idea! lets never ever ever say this name "justin bieber" and guess what the world will be BEBIER FREE!! *evil laugh* BWAHAHA! <33 :DD just saying!

  • @ChairgirloftheBored lift up your pretty chin, don't let those tears begin, you're a big girl now, & you'll pull thru somehow...smile a little smile for me, rose marie... ;)

    but yours is funny. :)

  • @ChairgirloftheBored you got it wrong, but u made me laugh

  • I love every single one of their songs. That's right, all one of them.

  • @ARFCguy

you don't have their eponymous, million selling album from 1970 then...

  • @ARFCguy

you don't have their eponymous, million selling album from 1970?

  • <3 Beatles-like

  • @hamslice.. Your comment is probably the most stupid I have ever read anywhere on any forum.. Throw some chlorine into your genetic pool. How stupid can you get?

  • @hamslice151, grow up.

  • thats peggy lipton from the mod squad at 1:29. her and link used to smoke crack and eat chocolate pudding.

  • I remember when my sister bought the 45. She played this song over and over. :)

  • Wow thhis takes me back to high school, I was dateing a girl named Rosemary, she hated this song.

  • Why do so many of these songs get ruined by sucking the rich original production, the life, right out of them when digitized? All vocals and percussion. Bleh!!

  • hurray for boggie

  • that cat playing the drums is keith moon before he joined that crappy band the who.

he died in 1978 smoking pot.

  • @hamslice151 stick ur anti pot message up ur ass ! booze kills, pot lives ! ur are a narc & everybody knows who ur r, good luck idiot!

  • @hamslice151 -- sorry man .. that's not Keith Moon .. but Paul Wilkinson on drums and he (Moon) did not die smoking pot. Not that any of this is relevant to this video!

  • @BDM55 you're right. he died doing cunnilingus on ann margeret.

  • @hamslice151 -- I should have expected you're reply would contain more vulgar nonsense.

  • @BDM55 Hey Bro, You seem to know the group... Who's the lead singer, and is James Taylor in the band in this video?

  • @revmo37 Hi Revmo -- Unfortunately this band was a one hit wonder (more or less) ... the lead singer was a guy named Tony Newman --- there is some confusion about James Taylor .. as he had a band called The Flying Machine ... I don't thing it was the same one though ... but maybe.

  • i couldnt get this song out of my head! i was singing it all day at school, i love this song :)

  • i dont think the guys in the video were the guys that really wrote & sang this song. so many bands were put 2gether after a stu dio band, with great productin made it a hit song. then they were like/ we gotta find a band to tour wit it

  • whoa calm down there "snoozebutton".... wtf?

  • like it

  • I like this version of this song. The version they play around here is the one where some idiot is singing,ba ba ba ba ba baaa ba ba baaa to the last part where the horn plays the tune near the end.It sounds awful and drowns out the horn

  • i first heard this summer 1985. my boss liked this kind of music. sad love song.

they seemed like has-beens in 1985 but now they seem like druggies.

  • Unexpectedly (because it wasn't typical Britpop of the time) a Top 5 hit in the States, but didn't chart here in the UK. Macauley and MacLeod at their best (the writers), hard to believe this was from a later incarnation of Pinkerton's Assorted Colours, whom I last saw doing the UK C & W circuit in the 80s.

  • better known as pinkertons assorted colours...with thier hit mirror, mirror

  • the part which he sez ''whats the use in trying''....sounds like John Lennon

  • The gentle and heartfelt music of the 60's during my emotionally formative years laid the foundation for me and has served me very well. I love women with all my soul. I love girls even more. Thank God for the tunes that taught my young heart.

  • Bubble gum music,good song

  • God I was so young then

  • Keyboards tore up that solo at the end! LOL!

  • Whenever I think of this song I always think about shooting up with heroin. I've never done it but it's got that kind of drag tempo...like Sway by the Stones which probably IS about dope. JUST A THOUGHT!

  • is that guy on the keyboards wearing a mask ...he looks like lon chaney the fucking phantom of the opera

  • and i'm sooo jelous that i didn't born in the 50's :( but because of my mum...I love all this music!!! Peace

  • @Nelaa99 You'd be in your mid-50s now and that would suck, wouldn't it? :)

  • @troyrod27 it does ! :\ must be the trumpet.. im embarassed to say i thought for sure this was the beatles for the longest time :$

  • Well what can i say ?----Such a lovley song --great chord sequence and chorus --great pop. I had forgotten about this band and this song ---its so mellow. Ive just got from playing a gig and Im listening to this with a cuppa and some biccies ----- not really rock and roll I know --but so what .... lol

  • Get that bass player to a dentist!!!!!

  • i use to sing this song to myself in high school for comfort cause no one ever wanted to date me or even take me on a date... i still don't get asked on dates and have never had a boyfriend- i'm 25 lol.... had to revisit this one.

  • @yellow85 Hi! I checked out your channel in an attempt to gain insight as to why you would never have been asked out on a date & why you've never had a boyfriend. After just a little investigation, I've concluded that you must have either gone to an all-girls school, or your class must have been full of shallow, narrow-minded boys who were intimidated and felt threatened by your intelligence & charisma. Why no dates now? Those boys have been replaced by men of the same mind. You're alright :)

  • @yellow85 Good luck in 2011 and have a great night.

  • I was born in 1998. My favorite song is Voodoo Child by Jimi Hendrix. My grandpa used to sing this to me. Wow... I will save our generation... Or at least I'll try. Oh yeah, and Justin Bieber has no talent.

  • @bluebooba1 im glad to see ur not brainwashed by the media like most young kids are nowadays. ur grandpa gave u a gift singing that to u.

  • @RYANDEOROCK Thanks. People say I have a very old spirit, and quite frankly, I do. I love this music and I always will. (:

  • @bluebooba1 I'm 17. You have my respect because you love Voodoo Child the most, and not the slight return. We got this.

  • @bluebooba1

I pray my four year old is as cool as you are when he's twelve. BTW, check out 'House Burning Down' off of the same Hendrix album, 'Electric Ladyland'. Or better yet, get the album if you haven't already. 'All Along the Watchtower' is on it too.

  • @bluebooba1 The world needs more kids like you.

  • @bluebooba1 You're a smart kid. Maybe I was wrong. Maybe there is hope!

  • @bluebooba1 woah, a comment on how young you are and the fact you like this music, PLUS a comment about how Justin Bieber sucks, two, count them , two original things to say in the comment box of a song from the late 60s. congrats on that my friend. real good

  • @42JHU42 I really didn't ask for your opinion. I'm not going to toss around bad words on such a beautiful song's video. But please, don't get in a fight with a 12-year-old on youtube, because you're making a true (I'm sorry I have to) ass of yourself.

  • @42JHU42 Oh yes, and I forgot, I started listening to this song right after my grandfather died. Sorry that I annoyed you.

  • @bluebooba1 dude, chill.

  • @42JHU42 How about you chill? You obviously have no life if you're picking fights on youtube.

  • @bluebooba1 no one is liking your posts, so quit trying you big dummy

  • @42JHU42 me are be 13 i dun lick bibur cuz im cul n i dun kno to come o n an pitr come to the fart.

  • @42JHU42 '70 actually

  • @QueenWebster 1969 is when this song was released bro

  • @42JHU42 Ah! I always heard it was '70 my mistake

  • @QueenWebster I'm sure since "RoseMarie" was released late in 69 it went into 1970, so your memory is probably just recalling when you heard it, which may have been in 1970

  • @kirbygene Song's timeless, so who cares what year it came out?

  • @42JHU42 November 22, 1969

  • @bluebooba1 You are truly awesome, bluebooba ! If anyone can save this generation, you can ! Keep the 60's & 70's alive !

  • Goood Tune!

  • Gracias por publicar esta canción .... bueno oírlo una vez más después de todos estos años y sigue siendo grande! Me recordó a muchos años felices en los años SA.

  • lead vocalist resembles donny osmond (maybe? a little? sorry)

  • I miss ya RO...............

  • i was born in the late 50's and enjoyed all the great music since then.

  • When I was a kid, I thought this was The Beatles..... I guess because it's THAT good!! One of the best chorus' ever! Even today.....so sweet!! Great post and thumbs way up. ~KK

  • @KingHopeMusic I thought the same thing! I swore it was the Beatles.

  • @KingHopeMusic i'm an old guy, beatles' fan, still with long hair, but love other goodies like this

  • @yesawmyint Well...it's a brilliant tune with a super strong chorus!!! Makes a writer wish he/she had written it!! ~KK

  • this is such a wonderful song , so glad to have lived in the 60's and early 70's , the music of today does not do it for me . most of the music today sounds so angry or just plain awful . but i am sure that my parents said the same thing about heavy metal , but i really think music since the mid 80's is not very good , thanks

  • my grandma was lucky too live in the 60's! :( so many good songs! im 9 and love the beatles!

  • THE SONG FROM MY FIRST BREAKUP IN 1970!! AMAZING SONG BRINGS BACK MEMORIES, WHAT A GREAT TIME FOR POP, NOT THIS CRAP TODAY
