The reason they sound different is because, in the show, they have pre-recorded everything and just lace the song they have already sung (with it edited and everything) over their moving lips in the show. This is pure and rough Lea and Cory singing. I think this sounds a hell of a lot better than their show voices.

For my is very noticeable that the microphones were not so well and both read and Cory put him the best of if, also think that they are people and they can be tired and therefore neither presentation shine both but were professional and gave everything that is the notable because either no raise on the stage to singdancing and doing things as they should

I don't know if it's the audio or what, but they really should have given Cory and Lea's mics more sound...They're really faint.

And they sound AWESOME, by the way. I didn't think they'd sound so great in real life.

Keep in mind that this is live, at the White House (wouldn't you freak out?) and yes, songs such as this, when they're recorded, WILL have some tinkering done to the singers' voices before they present it to the world. It's how it is.

@scoutcaulfield my guess is that they aren't lip synching but that the person running the mics wasn't doing their job right. When people have to change mic volumes multiple times during a song it can cause issues like what went on in the video, they leave everyone elses mics alone causing the the background to become louder than the soloists when they forget to turn up those particular mics.

His character was Matt. He was a football player who decided to join the glee club together with Puck and Mike Chang. But he really didn't have much of a role: he just sat there in the background and danced a little, but they needed him to have 12 members. In the second season Matt transferred (don't know why they got rid of him, maybe he got tired of never having lines) so they were short of members again and then the kids had to go and search for new members (Sunshine, Sam)
