  • he makes it with no dificult

    is it easy? hahahaha

    powerful voice

    great and beatiful screams

  • My love *__________*

  • Hey, I like the video! I decided to make a 'vocal range' video for Kotipelto 'cause I see people asking for one. I also have a Tony Kakko one :D.

Difficult to find low notes for this guy :P.

  • @opentoedsandles

Listen the song '' Keep the flame '' from Intermission. I think thats the only one :D

  • @Miqelfin There's also a low note in "Winter".

  • find your own voice is impossible to sing!

  • i think his range is E2-Bb5 and thats 3 and a half octaves exactley.

  • thx.. how about Rob Halford

  • how many octaves?

  • Amazing!! <3 He has the world´s amazing power metal voice!! Go Finland!

  • Actually, he's the best power metal voice, and one of the best of all time.

  • I've recently heard some bootlegs of Stratovarius current tour in expectance of their gig here in Milan (Italy) next January. I've noticed that Timo struggles in hitting high notes but until 2003 he was surely to be regarded among the best and the most beautiful voices of power metal...

  • In Finnish "Revontulet" literally means "Fox' Fires" i.e. Aurora Borealis... Isn't it? I've studied a little Finnish for a while...

  • ;) You're right. It means aurora boreal...

  • Great... Thank you... It means that I I learnt something during my staying In Helsinki 2 years ago... :-)

  • @winterbringer

Revontulet actually means northern lights, you know, the phenomena on the extremely cold winter skies.

But 'fox' fires' is the correct word-to-word translation.

Dammit Timo got some pipes! Wish I could make that kinda noises some day ;D

  • In love with TK's voice!!!!!

  • Actually it does not matter how high or how low could you sing, it is more important how do you use all your vocal resources...

  • Yes, I see what you mean and it's important pointing out that to be a great singer goes beyond the simple fact of how high/low he sings...

  • G#2 is his lowest I guess...

  • So if his highest is B♭5, what's his lowest?

  • I don't really know... I usually devote myself only to the high and to the highest ones... :-)... Sorry...

  • Yeah, I noticed that all your videos were only high notes. No worries, though, great work nonetheless.

I read something about an E2 in Jowox's vocal range discussion video, but I also heard that it might be Timo Tolkki instead.

  • Thank you... Jowox is a great collector of really good singers... I don't consider Timo Tolkki as a singer, I'd rather say that he's a lunatic person... :-) Great guitar player!!!

  • Yeah, it's just something I read in the vocal range discussion video. I don't know if they were discussing Tolkki as a singer, or if they were clarifying that the low notes on Stratovarius's albums were done by him, rather than Kotipelto.

  • Now I see more info Jowox's discussion video...it looks like G♯2 is Kotipelto's lowest.

  • best power metal singer with matt barlow

  • Sexy Timo Kicks Arse.

  • Kotipelto is the boss of god

  • you could compile some work from Matt Barlow (Iced Earth)

  • Hehe I"ve started to hear Power Metal some months ago^^before that time I listened to classic Rock like Deep Purple etc. Thats why I never heard of him^^

  • It's always better starting from the classics such as Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin and so on... They're all bands that have made the history of rock music...

  • Hey you have among with jawox the best high voice videos on youtube :) "thumbs up"!

Ive never heard of this guy before, but know im gonna listen to his stuff!

    Hes damn good ;)

what about an video about Tony Harnell from TNT ?? Hes an amazing singer as well.

  • First of all I would like to thank you for what you've written above. It's very kind of you. Thank you very much!...

Sounds kinda weird you've never heard of Timo Kotipelto... If you're fond of metal music, you should know him. He is the singer of the Finnish Power Metal band Stratovarius...

Many people have recently asked me to make videos of several vocalists and I think I will collect some stuff regarding Tony Harnell as well.

  • LOL, This really cheers me up. His "screaming" is so fantastic! xDD

  • Great! His voice is really awesome... So clear and melodic... Finland can count on several great voices such as Timo Kotipelto, Tarja Turunen, Tony Kakko,... Congratulations all Finns out there!!!

  • WOW He Is A GOD!

His screams are so Melodic and Stratovarius are Epic as Hell!

This guy and Matt Barlow are the best Power Metal singers!

  • He's very good at reaching high notes... Matt Barlow is another great singer...

  • fantastic!

  • Surely one of the best metal singers!

  • grande timo!!!

  • Eh sì... Timo è proprio un grandissimo cantante... La sua voce è a dir poco stupenda!

  • Kotipelto is amazing =P

    Greetings =)

  • He's got an incredible voice...

  • Kotipelto Rules!!!

This is my fave album ever =P

  • Which one?

  • All the albuns with him =)

Principally Fourth Dimension, Episode, Visions, Destiny, Infinite and Intermission =)

  • What about Elements Pt. I and Elements Pt. II? Even if they're not generally considered among the best Stratovarius albums, it's remarkable to state that Timo hits very high notes...

  • Really fucking awesome! Nice observation of the songs and also to give recognition to a great vocalist!

  • Thank you! I could not help tributing this clip to one of my favorite vocalists...

  • Kotipelto seria un gran cantante si no utilizara tanto falsete.

  • that high b in tomorrow is really impressive, is sounds very good

  • Yes, that Bb5 in Tomorrow is very very high... The highest note he has ever reached...

  • and I just discovered it! Btw, are you sure all the clips in the "more" section are included? some clips must´ve been very short...

learning to fly has a very high sung melody. the F#5 in Forever free is also very good. timo is not famous for singing in a very chesty manner but it fits the music and he has a clean and light tone.

  • I think I included all the clips, you're right many clips are very short but maybe I'd better explain what follows:

/ means that there's a progression of notes taking part in a melody.

    - means that there's a change of clip.

    :-)

  • Wow! I Love Timo Kotipelto and Stratovarius!!!

  • Ciao!

  • Timo is a very good singer. I think it's a bad idea that Stratovarius is doing one last album and it's without Tokki. That's a stupid idea.

  • Yes, Timo Kotipelto is surely one of the best metal singers. Wonderful voice! The real voice of Stratovarius (one of my favourite bands).

I heard that the remaining members of Stratovarius took on a new guitarist and they are gonna do other albums together. At least that's what's written on their official website.

Let's wait and see... I look forward to listening to the new fellow and to what they're able to do without Timo Tolkki's inspiration.

  • Ok. I was told they were only going to do one album with the new guitarist and retire Stratovarius. I look forward to hearing it as well.

  • I heard also that Timo Tolkki announced he will record a last Stratovarius album in 2009. The line up should be composed by founding member of the band drummer Tuomo Lassila and former keyboard player Antti Ikonen while the Vocals and guitars will be done by Timo Tolkki. Now, his adventure in Stratovarius is over and I do hope he will stay in Revolution Renaissance while the other guys of Stratovarius go on making the music we like...

  • Great videos dude:) I'm just not sure what You mean by 'Gb5' or 'Fb5'...(?) Nonetheless I wait for some more videos:)

  • Hi! I'm gonna upload some new videos in just few days when I have some more time off.

Regarding "Gb5" (G flat, 5 octave) or "Fb5" (F flat, 5 octave = E), they stand for the note Timo hits in the international note transcription.

  • Great video, I love Kotipelto's voice.I think he made some interesting high note in the Scorpions cover "Blackout", have you checked it?

  • Yes KeiAohi, you're right! Timo is one of my favourite singers and one of the most beautiful voices of Metal. Regarding the Scorpions cover "Blackout" I must admit that his voice suits to the song (I have got the whole Stratovarius discography as well as Kotipelto's one...

  • superb video once again!!
