many of the great extreme metal drummers imply quarter note so greatly within double bass work (32nd notes especially) that you get used to listening for tiny details within rolling double bass patterns.
the fact that literally all i do online anymore is watch drummers on youtube helps i guess... since its gotten me really used to listening to acoustic drumming on camera mics n shit.
so basicly it just makes a difference to the drummer himself... or if the kit isnt miced (which is seldom the case) and other drummers are present....
awesome job mate! i'm learning inverted doubles myself now (or trying to:). since this was recorder 3 years ago, i am sure that, if not faster, you are way more solid now.. 3 year is a great deal of time for advancing in technique! i have uploaded a solo of mine, i would appriciate if you could check it out and drop a line when you have the time.. cheers!
i couldnt tell you, ive never seen anyone use it, like i said im not a drummer im a rythem guitarest, i can just tell you by the way its counted that it can fit in alot of patterns
This is an advanced technique... thus its hard and the end result is sounding cool to the trained ear. If you arent a) a drummer b) used to listening to an infathomable number of drum recordings for little details like this one within the patterns.... this will sound exactly the same to you. On a double pedal the left and right bass stroke do have a slight difference in tone, and the same is usually true of many double bass drum setups.
Interesting !I think i have a pretty trained ear regarding drums... but ive never heard any difference ! Can you name any record i can listen to where this different accent is actually hearable ?
well as far as obvious accenting, i cant say that i know of any modern records or recording situations that it has greatly affected, although i assume you could hear it on virgil's music with his band, but i have never listened to any.
with mics you usually either adjust the levels to be exactly the same sound and the slight difference is made null & void either way, so the pitch difference doesnt matter much unless your right up on the drumset... and if youre a drummer you hear every nuance.
Eliminator : i;m talking about the spring tight and the angle of the beater, and how long the beaters should be,i;ll really thank you for the advices...and again, you re so good!!! cheers from mexico
Thanks, but I'm nowhere near to Thomas :) About my double pedal setting: I realy didn't make any radical changes, I keep my springs pretty loose, the Powershifter is set up in the middle position. Take care!
thanks for answer, where do you live? usa? i never could find a double-pedal teacher,if is not very far i could go to have a lesson's week with you, just let me know, because I''ll need save some money to pay you and for the trip.please let me a message in my channel,I really want do it
well it sounds very amazing, i was like holy shit, but ya nice playing, nice sounding kit, you seem to know what your doing and have a good talent my friend, so make a name for drumming, cuz theres alot of ppl that talk trash but can't back it ya know?
That was tight man, but people who are at that level with double bass drumming should stop dicking around with little clips and make some short instructional videos to spread the love. It's kinda hard to tell what kind of techniques you're using but whatever it was it sounded ill! Keep it up.
It's a double pedal not a triple. The technique he appears to be using is the "slide" technique in which your first stroke your move your foot lower on the pedalboard for the first stroke and slide it up for the 2nd. He is doing a double stroke roll with his feet.
I know how you do that. It's a combination of technique, bounce, and STRENGTH. You have to build up your muscles!! You can't expect to play like that if you're weak like a child!
cool i've been trying that and can only get around 130-140 and even then i'm kinda sloppy and straining. can u make a vid showing how you do it? and if you have time chek out my drum lessons
Do you use Heel-toe or some other technique or just plain Heel up?
