  • I'll bet money this guy is a virgin

  • Thrasher sharks are only dangerous if you grab its tail right?

  • He's like a scientific version of Pewee Herman.

  • all Mr Bird needs is a high defination camera

  • This man is a tad.... special.

  • What 'advanced diving technology' did you use? I only saw a rebreather.

You see a thresher shark and then immediately afterwards a manta, I hate you ;)

  • I wonder if he's mr. Bird, why in he actually acting as a Mr. Fish?

  • I don't think the octopus was trying to reach out to you I think he was trying to get away from the person disturbing him

  • The tail is used to circle and confuse prey you idiots. Exactly like a Sailfishes large dorsal fin. The thresher does this with schools of baitfish. Ive seen it first hand. They circle sometimes in pairs to get fish close toether then jet through and eat weak fish.

  • i find this difficult to masturbate to.

  • I would think their tales were not for stunning fish but instead would be used in an undulating motion to create and extreme amount of propulsion in a short duration of time. after all the skinnier the tail fin the faster the shark can go and the length allows for quick acceleration. The thresher probably does rapid hunting like a mako shark.

  • HAPPY SHARK WEEK.

  • Clearly you've never seen a goblin shark before... now THOSE look weird.

  • corniest intro...... ever

  • kind of cool. :) just browsing

  • look at the size of that tailfeather

  • Fav shark caught a 60 pounder

  • Beautiful Cebu!

  • You do talk very strangely. It sounds like you're talking to babies.

  • amazing video, was there in aug 2007 and saw this creature too passing right in front of us. thrilling unforgettable experience at only 20 meters deep.

  • We saw them jump at Malibu/Trancas this past Sunday 11/7.

  • Instead of going all this way, he could have come to my house in Malibu and checked out the Thresher Sharks... a little far for him. There were 2 Threshers yesterday at Zuma Beach.... i think i was closer to the sharks then him!! ha

  • Instead of going all this way, he could have come to my house in Malibu and checked out the Thresher Sharks... a little far for him. There were 2 Threshers yesterday at Zuma Beach.... hmm

  • rays are harmless say that to Steve Erwin's grave

  • @denisesfeathers He was killed by a sting ray, not a mantha ray. Both are quite different.

  • @denisesfeathers Ummmmm.. that depends on the species. Some are totally harmless.

  • Saw a manta ray and I JIZZED IN MY PANTS

  • @aliensponged hehe

  • my fav shark

  • God he's such a tool.

  • This guys a total banana

  • Sharks are afraid of bubbles? Awesome.

  • But what showed up.....A MANTA RAY...LMAO! What a dork.

  • his target viewers are kids, makes sense, i'd rather speak funny and spend my time at sea and,, earning from it, rather than go to.. work 8-6pm,

  • you talk WWEEIIRRDD

  • He's like the Peewee Herman of the sea

  • pedo i sense in you.

  • i saw a couple of these near the great barrier once, it is a beautiful creature

  • They're cute, but nothing on a cookie cutter <3

  • dahhhhh im an over excited yank dahhhhhh im looking for sharks today dahhhhh sharks live in the water dahhhh i went looking for the oh so rare thresher dahhhh but i found a manta ray dahhhh

  • Am I the only person in the world that thinks Threshers are adorable compared to all the other kinds?

They have such cute faces and beautiful bodies.

  • i love all cinds off fish i love sharks the most

  • My Favorite Shark!

    Absolutely Beautiful!

  • Those sharks are beautiful. :)

  • I was at Malapascua 2 days ago and I was very lucky to see both thersher and manta..... :-)

  • I was at malapasuca about a year ago and tried to see a thresher shark.. but no luck :/. And btw this voice is creepy.

  • That was really great!!!

  • Good observations regarding the anchor usage. How about the sitting and resting equipment on the reef, or the shining of the strobes directly into the threshers eyes which obviously spooked it away...

Mr Bird, in case you do read these coments:

You are in the privileged position of showing many people some of the best places and marine life.

You made it through a lot of theory and practice to get where your are - don't forget the basics and role model!

    Hope to see a change!

  • but what showed up? A MANTA RAY!!

  • your a strange man mr bird, the way you talk is almost creepy to anyone over the age of 10

  • Shame on you Jonathan Bird. Allowing your boat to weigh anchor at Monad Shoal when they have buoys there to tie to? Yeah right the guide miraculously found the spot. There are plenty of signs - like 5 other boats diving there too. Your boat's anchoring is one of the things destroying the habitat. Dive responsibly so we can save some of these sights for future divers!!!!

  • i have no comment

  • What a classy video >.>

    Fire that douche imo

  • wow

  • wow...

  • why is he talking to us in a child like tone??? im offended

  • Did you ever consider that a series with episodes less than 10 minutes long is targeting children.

  • They need to protect those things.

  • yeah!!! Philippines idol!!! hehehe! the "BANGKA" boat. look how innovative filipinos are! despite being in a 3rd world country!! hehe! full of corrupt politicians! but still they can carry on! how much more if those guys are good! we could go far from being a 3rd world country to a 1st class one! yeah!!!! DEMOLAY!!!

  • a like dis..

  • this guy sounds so fucking stupidly gay....

  • lol he does sound funny

like hes reading us a childrens book

  • thresher sharks own they fucking own all of the other sharks

  • umm the dude is wrong, banka is boat in tagalog, its not a type of diving boat. anyway cool vid

  • i like this

  • they aint that rare near LBI a couple miles off the coast i caught like 15 fishing one time

  • well, did you let them go, like catch and realease

  • "Scientists think they use their tail like a whip to stun prey"

Ha, fisherman KNOW they use it to stunn prey as a big portion are Tail Hooked not mouth hooked. We find them when they are "tailing." They ball up baitfish and then whip the fish around stunning them before they are eaten. It's a beautiful site to see a feeding Thresher doing underwater summersaults while whipping and easting.

  • I was here 4 weeks ago, didn't se any sharks, and that was to bad, but we saw 11 devil reys (not as big as tha manta ray) at once! that was really beutifull! :D But I guss I'll have to go back there to see the threser to! :)

  • didn't steve irwin get killed by a sting ray? at any rate, sting rays are harmless too i guess, until you aggitate them..just like cats too

  • mantas are harmless!

steve irwin is rolling in his grave

  • yes...mantas are harmless. The stingray's can be dangerous thou.

  • Cool!!!!!

I did the same way back in 2004, we saw nothing in the morning, i really wanted to go back in the afternoon, and convinced them....medium current, but out of the blue came the Thresher and then came the Manta unbelievable, they where as close to me as this video and that was with a normal tank.

  • sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeettttttttttttttt

  • just saw the same manta last week, really big. i am going back to malapascua, look for danny or edison at divelink. he's a great guide
