what model do you have I have a emac usb 2.0 which a MASSIVE problem that i don't know what it is or how to fix it press the power button fan goes thats all no chime no light but subs work disk drive works Ive checked the capacitors all fine changed the battery replaced hardrive don't know how to fix it
Great video I just swaped my original 40GB PATA to a 120GB PATA from WD and added 512MB more ram but I want to know if you can swap the entire encloser and put it in a new case and use a standard LCD monitor.
Great vid! What brand/model hard drive did you put in? Specs? How much RAM do you have? Should I updgrade my RAM when I do this as well? I'm at the factory 384mb. I have the EMac G4 with the 700 mhz processor. Thanks!
Thanks dude. I just wanted to remove the HD before putting my old DOA eMac in the skip. Good riddance. Horrible great unweildy lump of a thing, style over substance to the max. Its last act of revenge was to leave me totally baffled as to where the HD was located.
Is there a max size the eMac G4 1.25Ghz model will accept? I heard that if it in IDE form it will work regardless of its size. And Linux MintPPC runs great on this machine, Nice and Fast.
can you check out the unboxing of my emac i got after researching it a lot and how simple it was to replace the hdd made me buy one thanks for making this vid so in depth. i subscribed
Thanks for the vid man. I FINALLY replaced my hard drive myself instead of paying almost more than the machines worth to get it done for me. The way Apple puts their hard drives is a big design flaw. I remember a while back with my iBook G4, i had to remove the WHOLE back casing to access the drive. I'm not too sure how hard it would be to to it on my Intel iMac, but lets hope I don't have to go down that road.
@awesomecolton No problem! And, I completely agree with you. I took apart an iBook G4 about 5 months ago, and it was hell on earth. Idk what to say about iMacs and Macbooks -- especially the unibody ones
@chance9888 I honestly can say that its easier to repair iPhones. I've fixed up so much broken hardware in all the different iPhone generations and i could say that's easier than trying to replace just the hard drive in Macs.
I also watched your vid on overclocking the eMac and I think I'm gonna overclock mine to over 1 GHz and maxing out the RAM. You can overclock them to the max and not have to worry about frying the CPU.
Thanks for all your vids. They're very helpful. :)
This looks like one of the best teardown videos I've seen for the eMac. I just ordered a new logic board for my 1.42ghz eMac and this video makes the task seem much less daunting.
can you pleace tell me were you got your upgraded hard drive
