  • This guy only turned the blame and questioning back to humankind instead of answering Epicurus postulate. What a fun thing to watch!! Christian beliefs falling apart by their own delusion. What a shame that I have to share my precious genes with these bible-thumpers!!

  • Yes. Let's debunk 2000 year old lines as if it matters. /eyeroll.

  • You poor sad confused little man

  • @watnee46474 - What is really poor, sad and confused is attacking someone we don't even know.

  • @JohnQuincyAdams1 I haven't met either Epicurus or "Mr Jesus loves me" of the Broadcast Jesus show but I feel I would get a lot more sense from Epicurus than the other bloke who apparently thinks we're all redundant, fundamentally flawed pond scum w/out the shining light of A) jesus or his B) his 'ol man, was'is name, Gawd,Lordy, Yaweh or what ever it is. What is really sad is this dumb prick is not alone in thinking this way,sad and disturbing.

  • Retard

  • @jjjjjenkins - "Retard"? TEENAGER ALERT!

  • Silly argument. has nothing to do with logical reasoning. It is based on the topics of Christian mythology and not a direct analysis of the argument. Do not fight with the philosophical arguments in the field of religion. It is methodologically incorrect. Good luck next pseudo-apologists.

    P.S.

I'm not an atheist, but I could not calmly listen to these stupid things (the mixing of concepts and contexts). Naive ...

  • Is this a parody?

  • Read the bible, idiot! God interfered with free will before!

  • @321Carl2000 when did God intterfer with free will? Don't Stretch to spin context. Give me hard proof. I know the Bible. It is always so revealing, the way you guys always name call. Childish come to mind. Your Daddy loves you anyway, that is the irony of it all. What grace and mercy He shows!

  • @BroadcastJesus Exodus 10: 20 20But the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, so that he would not let the children of Israel go.

  • I agree with everything you just said. But can you prove any of it without using the Bible? If not, its completely invalid... Good luck:)

  • @panthersfly - The word of God is hardly invalid. :)

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA 5:00

I... I just LOVE how you say people shouldn't jump at you, pointing out the fact that secular nations have extremely low crime rates ("communists" as you call them, which is just... so painfully funny) and then proceed not to confront the point at all and actually argue against yourself without... without even being aware you're doing it!

This has got to be satire. You're a satirical genius and I salute you for redefining the complex depths of parody humor.

  • Why would god wait to prevent it? Free will is the root of all evil. If god exists, he is, in fact, evil.

  • He's going to prevent evil?

LAZY BASTARD, GET OFF OF YOUR FAT ARSE AND GET TO WORK, BITCH.

Oops, I forgot that HE DOESN'T EXIST.

  • When you state at around 02:27: 'the further away from God they go', you imply that God has boundaries. In other words; if God would be omnipresent, it would be impossible to remove oneself from it. I must assume that you claim that God's presence is limited.

Another great thinker, Spinoza, realized that according to the christian claim that God was indeed omnipresent, he also presided over evil or, embodied evil as well as goodness.

  • "Anything against god's nature is evil"

    -

And now, I want to stop you right here and go kill some homosexuals.

  • @justforflag2 omg XD that's funny

  • The Bible verses you quoted don't explain why God is "tollorating" evil for now. They just say what God is going to do without giving a reason why. Also, you take a ridiculously long time just to basically say that God is going to get rid of evil Real Soon Now. It seems that your goal here was to spout Bible verses until the atheists just get bored and go away.

  • "Evil comes from the absence of God" - Wait, isn't God omnipresent?

    FAIL

  • the answer to the riddle is God is able but not willing

remember this fact : god has created everything in opposites without evil there will be no good and remember that you can not define something without it's opposite

This may say that god is not perfectly good then but remember that the idea of a perfectly good god is the character man wants in God but God never said i am perfectly good all he said is i am the one true god

  • to every question there is a real answer you have to choose one and the real answer is god is able but not willing

    why you ask?

remember that God created the world in opposites without eveil there is no good also remember that you cannot define something without it's opposite

many of you will say "then god is not perfectly good cuz he created evil"

remember this the idea of a perfectly good god is created by man

I hate christian defenders and atheist their way of thinking both sucks

  • only a fool would think man has become more evil. must be nice to be a happy idiot.

  • made no sense. good job on being an idiot, didn't even answer anything

  • Let me further clarify. Your argument would be valid if you were attempting to show that God is malevolent. Your argument can clearly show a depiction of God being malevolent; as he only seeks to control us, love us when it is convenient for him and punish us for breaking rules he himself does not follow.

So I ask, are you an Antitheist? Are you trying to prove that God is inherently evil? If so, you have succeeded; if not your argument is still invalid as to dispelling the riddle.

  • This really doesn't address the riddle at all. You've managed to side step every question. Your argument is invalid.

  • Since murder doesn't seem to be against god's nature does that mean that one can justify such acts by pointing to the bible? Guess if that happened it would be the 9 Commandments and that doesn't have same ring to it, does it? However it would seem that, historically speaking, christians haven't really had a problem breaking a few commandments. I direct you to read up on the 1st through 9th crusades, not to mention priests who are pedophiles and not defrocked or punished.

  • Why does god wait until he explodes with anger before evil is abolished? Sounds kinda lazy to me. In the past (Old Testament) he seemed more than willing to 'roll up his sleeves' as it were....banishment from paradise, destroying the tower of babel, etc..and why exactly is the desire to have sex a sin?! Seems to me without the desire to we wouldn't, thus becoming extinct...

  • The jewish/christian god is inherently evil, responding to violence with even more violence. Flooding the earth, burning down cities, commanding the children of Israel to murder children and rape women etc...

Then when Jesus came along he brought with him hell and the promise of eternal torment, Jesus is worse than his father. Their god is able but not willing to prevent evil because he is the source of that evil.

  • things that are omniscient dont know what a plan B is... except by definition i guess.

  • Yes, but your god can still prevent evil even if it exists within people. Not willing? Ok, malevolent then. Allowing that tree and so forth was malevolent. Also, you can't define evil with biblical terms, considering that Epicurus predates the bible.

  • *sigh* God told Adam and Eve NOT to eat of the tree of the knowlege of good and evil. They disobeyed. Therefore they were already aware of the choice to disobey God. By God giving that law (no eating of the fruit of the tree) they were given a choice to do 'good' or 'evil.' The Bible is full of holes like that.

  • your reply to the ridle is shit. if god is all knowing then he would have known that man would become evil. If god was all loving then he wouldnt send those who dont beleave in him to be tortured for all time. say if you were raised in Iraq. the cristean god means nothing to you. Is that your fault. No. thats how you were raised. If life were truly a test would it not be the same for everyone? that is my ridle to you in a modern expansion to the one of Epicurus

  • I believe in Norse Mythology. Why you ask? Because the Norse gods are:1. Able to die. 2. Are not omnipotent. 3. They are admittedly malevolent.

  • You believe god cannot erase an the devil as it is his opposite and that its good cannot erase the evil because it cannot erase it opposite

Yet you say god created man, a force of good (as you say) and gave it free will (giving it the ability to do evil) and created the tree that he made looks so tempting to Adam and Eve. When they ate from the tree they failed his test, showing they were evil and he took them from the garden of eden. Therefore, the good erased the evil from the garden of eden

  • Satire is outdated. Yes, it is funny because the things he is saying are a series of logical fallacies, and complete falsehoods and he is speaking in the Deliverance-esque backwoods drawl heard from many Bible-thumpers but that just gets old after about 90 seconds. Be original.

  • We don't need to read revelation to see how far he lets evil go. We don't even need to get past the first book...

  • Yes, you have surely answered Epicurus' riddle. Your answer is based on your understanding of your bible and your religion. Thus, it is not unbiased or objective. You should think about this riddle again and try to come up with a better answer.

  • Wait what day is this? Where is my dog?

  • If my eternal stay in paradise is bought on the suffering of even one innocent little girl, then I respectfully return my ticket.

  • I love how he had to explain what 'malevolent' is.

  • Over 2 thousand years and no one has given a real answer. This is pathetic.

  • if god is omniscient then it is predetermined whether you're gonna go to heaven or hell and even every decision you're gonna make. Or doesn't god know the future? if god doesn't know the future then he's also not omnipotent. But if he's omniscient then you have actually no free will and all evil is made by him. and by the way it's quite selfish to behave good or believing in jesus for the benefit of getting into heaven.

  • 03:17 So, why doesnt god, just erase evil?

03:32 You CANNOT erase an opossite (where the phrase "erase an opossite" is equivalent to "elliminate evil" perhaps?...). To ask an eternal being to erase an opossite is in contrary to the logic, the reason, and the rational thinking, that many of you atheists (yep, thats us!) hold so sacred.

04:03 so yes, god is omnipotent. he is able to elliminate evil. OOPS! I THOUGHT YOU SAID IN 03:32 you cannot erase an opossite.

    pathetic as always....

    ELLAS

  • "God did do everything in his power to make them happy." Yet not enough to make them eat from the tree.

  • But God has to interfere to complete his plan. So how is he omnipotent and omniscient if he has to do that. And with the fruit, that must have been in his plan, that the devil will decieve them.

  • i love the christian parodies on youtube priceless. like edward curn

  • Thats another thing. Christians always talk about the gift of free will. But according to them we took our free will it was not given to us.

  • I disagree. Christians do not say we "took" our free will. the Bible teaches that we were given free will or choice by God. He and He alone is the only one who could allow free will choices since He Himself is sovereign and created man. But God created a cinario for Himself where He exists within all times (past present and future) so He knows but yet will only interfere when it is necessary to fulfill His perfect will and when Prayer moves His hand for the same reason.

  • @BroadcastJesus way to read the riddle wrong

  • WOW!!

    Riddle solved after 1:00 min!!!

It's all so clear to me now, didn't even have to watch the other 9 min! You da man, see you in heaven!

  • God did do everything in His power to make them Happy. It was not originally a "test" it was a future plan. You missed this. The Tree of the knowledge of good and evil was not for them yet. It was going to be for them at the appointed time. They believed the lie of the devil(the opposite of God) who told them it would make them like god. God had everything they needed! They did not need that fruit when they had the best fruit already.

  • They did not need the knowledge of that tree as they walked w/ God. God was so Benevolent that He already had a plan should they rebel (John 1:1). Jesus. epicurus himself, as you noted, did not know about this plan or He would have known THE ONE and Only TRUE God is Benevolent, omnipotent, and omniscient!

  • @BroadcastJesus But if he was all knowing then he would have known that they would eat from the tree and that he would have to kill his own son to fix the problem that he allowed. Wouldn't that just make him a malevolent murderer? You nkow that a store is going to be robbed and people will be killed, you have the power to stop it yet you allow it. That makes you evil for allowing it. Nice way to say that god is evil.

  • Ask yourself why would god put the forbiden tree there in the firts place knowing that his children will fail? Why allow the devil to enter into the garden? Either he didn't know what was going to happen, or he did and was playing games. I want you to think about it this time. Don't give me your canned bible answers. Reason my friend, reason and YOU will find the truth!

  • Just assuming for philosophical argument that your Bible story is based on some sort of fact ;) So god was acting according to his nature when he placed the tree in the garden? with the omniscience that knew the conseqences of his actions? could innocent creatures like A&E possibly understand that it was wrong to eat if they had no concept of right and wrong? Put up job.The riddle speaks of prevention, not cure. Your bible story is the same as poisoning someone, then selling them the antidote.

  • Wrong. God specifically told them: "of all the trees in the garden may you eat, except this tree". He told them specifically not to eat of it. Even if they did not know "right from wrong" they were told so they could have easily obeyed. They did not. God had to provide some choice to test obedience. That in and of it self is not evil or poison, it is like parents who allow their teens so much freedom until they break trust. It comes from love ultimatly. A desire for them to know freedom.

  • Oh,please, God HAD to provide some choice? why? were his creations in some way already flawed? don't forget, they didn't know good from evil until they had eaten, but God of course already knew they would eat, even before the moment of creation, an Omniscient being would HAVE to know,Omniscient..ALL knowing, right down to the level of quarks, from the beginning of time until the end. God, by definition can't do anything by chance, therefore the fall of Man was premeditated, Satan was a scapegoat.

  • Wrong! Just because God knew what was going to happen does not mean He was making it happen. I don't understand why you guys don't get it. God was not controling Satan. Although God's Omniscients forknew what satan would try and even the outcome, that just proves God's amazing grace. He already had a plan B because of man's wrong CHOICE. John chapter 1 God had Jesus Christ from the very beginning, ready to redeem man from man's mistake because YES God knew they would CHOOSE wrong.

  • The fact that God is Omniscient means He is never caught off gaurd! What kind of God would He be if He could be caught off gaurd. He is not only Omniscient, He is also perfectly Just and Perfect in His judgment when and when not to react based on what HE knows. He is bound by His own spoken Law that demands He always gives the right away to man's free will to choose. God refussed to MAKE man obey or make them "robots" He wants a People who will CHOOSE to Love Him and follow Him!

  • Because they get it! and can SEE that He knows what is best, that He can see ahead and they CAN trust Him! That He is WONDERFUL AND GREAT in that He provided a Redeemer and a Savior because of our flawed CHOICES. Back on topic: This ultimatly leads to the end of SIN, EVIL, and SUFFERING. Again choice of sin birthed EVIL, Evil births SUFFERING. God has the cure But He did not make the poison! If you want to blame God in any way, blame Him for giving you a choice it was a gift and curse for man.

  • Why would god put that temptation before his children in the first place. As a parent I would do anything within my power to make my children happy. I would not try to trip them or test their "devotion/loyalty" to me with silly/petty tests. What kind of god is that? I can tell you is not benevolent. Back to Epicurus then, why call him god.

BTW, Epicurus said that way before the time of Jesus so it really applies to all gods in case you were felling he was picking on your god.

  • fail, your saying but saying that one day will make everything all right is not the answer to the riddle. read the riddle again do not think about answer involing scripture. The riddle is asking why the problem of evil is not imidatly solved by gods who are oppesed to evil. btw your god/allah are one in the same no muslim would say otherwise yet christans seem to not understand that fact.

  • and those with eyes blind to reason will accept anything that is shoved on them---even if that means offering your only child as a burnt holocaust.

  • Is this an example of Poes Law?

  • thanks for the reply. I will be posting my own as time permits.

I don't agree with you but I will give you props for making a reply.
