As long as its a fractional reserve practice, it doesn't matter. There are still going to be massive repercussions. It's as simple as this. If there is no money in this country and we borrow a dollar from the fed, they want to charge us interest. Lets say it is 1 penny on a dollar. We borrow the dollar, and now we are in debt $1.01. That 1 cent is impossible to pay off and will never ever ever be paid back, because we borrowed a dollar, not a dollar and 1 cent.

Why is Jim Demint's concern that the FED is tightening credit? We don't know what they're doing, but the St. Louis fed says they've about doubled the monetary base. Not sure how that would contract credit or why a credit contraction is bad right now.
