From about 6:20 to 6:43 in the video, Michael Rugg plays a traditional Irish fiddle tune. Can anyone tell me the name of it? It's in some kind of haunting minor mode that hits your spine like some dark secret your grandfather kept.
Thanks, Bing. I've already half-learned the song on the guitar. Can't wait to try it on a dulcimer. The dulcimer's drone and mode are perfect for that tune.
By the way, I appreciate how active you are on these comment boards. Don't wear out your fingers, though. We need you playing more than we need you typing!
did i just see a vid on here that said; BING for president??? i cannot find it now. i now know who i'll vote for; BING, BING, BING, BING FUTCH FOR PRESIDENT!!!!!! IT HAS A NICE TONE TO IT!!! the tatoo was very cool also. can definitely understand where the comment COMING UP FROM BEHIND came from!!!HAHA i can see BING as pres!!
Thanks! That's an original "raga" called "Raga 111806." It's on my album "Dulcimer Rock" and also appears in a souped-up remix called "Sunday At Little Beach" on my latest album "Kokopelli Rising." Glad you like it!
Is that in your new tab book? I love Indian and Middle Eastern music on the dulcimer but tab seems to be almost impossible to find. You should do an international song book! Klezmer and Romani/Gypsy music is gorgeous on the dulcimer too.
That one's not tabbed out as it was completely improvisational. An international songbook sounds cool - I've been studying the Indiana ragas with the idea of presenting a few - and I love the Gypsy scales. It's possible that I may need a chromatic dulcimer to pull off some of these. Same with Klezmer. There'll be something forthcoming in that regard though!
