  • From about 6:20 to 6:43 in the video, Michael Rugg plays a traditional Irish fiddle tune. Can anyone tell me the name of it? It's in some kind of haunting minor mode that hits your spine like some dark secret your grandfather kept.

  • That's "The Road To Lisdoonvarna"

  • Thanks, Bing. I've already half-learned the song on the guitar. Can't wait to try it on a dulcimer. The dulcimer's drone and mode are perfect for that tune.

By the way, I appreciate how active you are on these comment boards. Don't wear out your fingers, though. We need you playing more than we need you typing!

  • did i just see a vid on here that said; BING for president??? i cannot find it now. i now know who i'll vote for; BING, BING, BING, BING FUTCH FOR PRESIDENT!!!!!! IT HAS A NICE TONE TO IT!!! the tatoo was very cool also. can definitely understand where the comment COMING UP FROM BEHIND came from!!!HAHA i can see BING as pres!!

  • Hahah, I'm glad YOU can - POTUS gets up way too early in the morning for me. LOL!

  • That's gotta be way cool to hang with those who originally influenced you. I'd love to see his entire Big Foot schpeel. Cool beans, man.

  • I think there are some videos of Mike talking about Bigfoot here on YouTube somewhere. It was way awesome to hang with these guys!

  • Very interesting, cool to watch how the dulicmer is played...never knew about the instrument until now...enjoyed it!

  • Thanks! Hopefully you'll pick one up and really get the full effect!

  • like Michaels way to play it a very lot !

Nice to hear from you, blessings and my best wishes !

  • BEAUTIFUL! LOVE WATCHING HIM PLAY!!! 5 stars

  • Glad you enjoyed it!

  • Nice video! What is the gorgeous song you're playing at 2:00?

  • Thanks! That's an original "raga" called "Raga 111806." It's on my album "Dulcimer Rock" and also appears in a souped-up remix called "Sunday At Little Beach" on my latest album "Kokopelli Rising." Glad you like it!

  • Is that in your new tab book? I love Indian and Middle Eastern music on the dulcimer but tab seems to be almost impossible to find. You should do an international song book! Klezmer and Romani/Gypsy music is gorgeous on the dulcimer too.

  • That one's not tabbed out as it was completely improvisational. An international songbook sounds cool - I've been studying the Indiana ragas with the idea of presenting a few - and I love the Gypsy scales. It's possible that I may need a chromatic dulcimer to pull off some of these. Same with Klezmer. There'll be something forthcoming in that regard though!

  • Hey Bing what sond is he playing at 6:20? I have heard it on Hammer dulcimer but I cannot think of the name.

  • That is "The Road To Lisdoonvarna."

  • wow what a machine lovit like one

  • Which one, the first one? Super-nice.

  • Pure Awesome, Friend! and cool fun doc.

Ck out the duckhead, a wonder.

  • That dulcimer played like butter - the video doesn't do it justice - thanks for watching!

  • Awesome video! Cool that you got to hang out with those that inspired you;) personally I think bigfoot is one of the last of the old ones.

  • Thanks! I think you're right about BF.
