@peterdublin444 Amen brother..after 2020, MOST incandescents will not meet the standards, except for the ones that are exempt. Whatever bulbs don't meet e efficiency standards WILL be banned.. We need to get thes moron greenies outa office ASAP
Why don't you expand your dissertation on the necessary haz mat cleanup of a broken CFL in your home. Not to mention the detrimental environmental impact on our landfills when discarded. Puppet idiot!
It's misleading to claim that consumers "can get the same light using less watts".
All the new bulb types are spectrally deficient. An incandescent lamp approximates a black body spectral distribution. All the proposed alternatives have significantly irregular spectral distributions, which can result in colour casts in photography and failures of colour matching when compared to incandescent bulbs or daylight.
a car only take 3% of all the gas energy to move itself you know that? on that 3% only .3%~ serve to move your body. talk about light bulb all you want, you are still a prehistoric civilization who burn millions of gallons of oil per day.
Nothing but eco-terroristic scare-mongering and total b.s. government meddling in citizens personal lives. The personification of crony-capitalism in the name of a leftist-extremist "green agenda" which has already cost the U.S. tens of thousands of jobs, and will cost many more in the future.
@bohnstube Thanks for sharing! While we all appreciate the "option" to save energy with more efficient bulbs, we agree that it should literally be an "option", and not a requirement! At this point, we just want others to know that they can at least still get the incandescent light style they are used to and that they will not be forced to switch everything to CFL or LED.
conscription for the Vietnam war was "good for us" too wasnt it?

Wrong!!
It is a BAN - read that legislation again
Not just a ban on simple incandescents by 2014,
but a ban on ALL known incandescents (incl the Halogen-type replacements) before 2020
Ceolas .net/#li01inx with references and relevant sections
Of course the temporarily allowed Halogen-type incandescents are
different in light quality etc anyway, and are not popular due to
marginal savings for a much higher price

That is so funny. The message, however, gets through pretty well IMHO. ;)

The whole "car that gets 2 miles per gallon" thing is stupid.

@legitimatemind Especially since they displayed a vehicle that did closer to 14mpg.
