Since 1654, Ukrainians had lived in two distinct worlds: one ruled by imperialistic Russians and the other imperialistic Poles or Austrians.

As a result of 1939 "liberation", the East/West Ukrainian dichotomy finally ceased to exist, at least on some political levels. Unification of two long-separated branches of the Ukrainian people—was an event of epochal significance in the history of Ukraine. This was the silver lining to an otherwise dark cloud over Ukraine in 1939.

Osobiście nie mam żadnej urazy do Ukraińców mimo że moja rodzina w dużej części ucierpiała z powodu prześladowań nacjonalistów ukraińskich. To jest dużo bardziej skomplikowane należy pamiętać że Polacy często traktowali Kresy Wschodnie jak kolonie a ludność autochtoniczną jak prymitywnych niecywilizowanych tubylców - ksenofobia z obu stron...

Polski Pan i ukraiński chłop to nie był tylko i wyłącznie slogan propagandy komunistycznej...

Oczywiście pamięć o tej rzeźi musi być żywa w obu Narodach

@szibidu Złoty wrzesień. Kronika Galicji 1939 – 1941

premiera w Ukrainie była 23 września we Lwowie. Jest już wersja angielska i prawdopodobnie będzie też wersja polska. Daty polskiej premiery jeszcze nie ustalono. Jeśli prorosyjskie władze Ukrainy nie będą sprawiać problemów to film będzie wyświetlany w kinach w całej Ukrainie i trafi do Polski.

@0masakra0 Nie wszyscy Ukraińcy gloryfikują OUN-UPA. Ukraińcy ze środkowej Ukrainy mają o UPA takie samo zdanie jak Polacy. Ukraińcy ze wschodu też uważają banderowców za bandytów.

@doliwaq my grandma was in UPA. She protected my native village from invasion of nonhumans (NKVD). поляки нагліли на чужій землі (впродовж 1920-1939) тому українці і пішли на них як це було в часи Коліїївщини.

@pohgejib The NKVD was indeed a cruel secret police. In Poland, too many patriots, soldiers, and intelligent people lost their lives by the NKVD. If your grandfather just before the compatriots defended communists and did not take action against the civilian population is good. Maybe your grandfather did not tell you about things which are better off not knowing. Polish dictator Jozef Pilsudski wanted to create a free Ukraine, and Belarus, but unfortunately he did not succeed.

@doliwaq relax my friend. UPA was created by custom peoples for defending their villages. but at that time (1920-1939) ukrainians were hating poles and U must know that. poles were strangers on our land. thats why "UPA-North" became to such terrible things as killing.

@pohgejib It is true that at the beginning of the UPA was formed to defend the village against the Communists. The former guerrillas fought fairly. It was only later turned into a UPA cruelly inhumane organization. AK wanted to work with the Ukrainians, and together fight against the communists and fascists, but the UPA did not want to cooperate. Why?

Ukrainians have advised Poles twice to not collaborate with Germans, serving in the police etc. The leaflets were issued everywhere. Instead of that, Poles started to collaborate not with Germans only, but also with Soviet partisans, inviting them to infiltrate the territory. So, the Poles chose their cruel fate by themselves.

If you have any proof against anyone guilty in some war crimes - please address them to the tribunal, not to whole nation. Nobody from 14th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS has been proven guilty, no one.

Now regarding SS Halychyna. If somebody kill the other person, but can't be proven guilty, it doesn't mean he didn't kill. Dead body is still there.

This formation was formed in cooperation with Fascists. I'm not here to judge anybody, they have been told they fight for freedom of Ukraine.

@Marbolski Don't play fool, nobody from 14th Division has been proven guilty in war crimes or any crime against humanity, they are clear, every single one. Over 80 000 volunteered, 13 000 were recruited, so they were exceptionally motivated. They wanted to fight against USSR, for Ukraine. They were soldiers, killing enemy soldiers, a lot of them.

@laconically I agree with you, but it doesn't change the fact that they collaborate with Fascists. In fact Poles was faithing with Napoleon against Russians for the same reasons, to fight for freedom of our country.

But, as we earlier agree on that subject, there is no need to blame or exterminate Polish nation for few Poles in Fascists Police.

Anyway, as I wrote you before. That is in the history now. We can just learn about it or dispute, but there is no sense to argue.

@Marbolski Should I remind that there was no good side in this war at all? USA was an openly racist country, USSR was nothing but a slaughter house etc. As for Ukrainians, they have no chance to win, nor even to survive, so they just wanted to die fighting. Nieprawda. W tym czasie istniała Sicz Poleska UPA Tarasa-Bulby Borowca. Organizacja wroga Polsce, ale normalna - tzn Borowec walczył przeciwko Polakom i w tym sensie był naszym wrogiem, ale był wrogiem takim, którego można szanować, ponieważ posługiwał się metodami "normalnymi". Z uwagi na popularność UPA, nazwę ukradli mu potem banderowcy.
