Adam was good but he cant touch Zack, Zack had everything!! he could fight, dance, had his own damn MA style, i think he sung in one episode, and he had SWAGG!!!
i like adam's commitment and loyalty i think that was one of his strongest points.
@6FeetDopeProductions I liked that in Adam though, he was Billy but with fighting skills (yes I know Billy did have some fights but mostly it was morphed fights. Adam was just an average guy he wasnt the jock like jason/Rocky/tommy were and he wasn't a total billy I like Zack and all but he just seems too much like Jason Rocky Tommy to me.
@X99lionheart Is that a bad thing? Most of the Mighty Morphin' rangers used their feet more than their hands and some, like Zack, Kimberly, Billy, and Rocky used their feet almost exclusively in battle.
Adam would win, I think he's a more disciplined martial artist, where as Zack's' martial arts are a dance style of fighting, which is affective, but I don't really think it would match up to Adam. it was proven even Zack had a hard time defeating the putties his first time before they were power rangers, Adam handled Zedd's' putties, not Rita's' with more ease than Zack did Rita's', Adam would win.

Zedd's' putties were far more superior then Rita's' and the power rangers couldn't handle Zedd's' in morphed form first meeting. Adam handled the putties without being morphed on his first meeting. Look at the facts, Sorry I am a fan of Zack like the next person, but Adam would win.

The Choreography of the unmorphed early MMPRS1 fights were lacking. To make an even close to fair comparisson, you have to use late S1- early S2 footage (After Tommy came back as green, and ending when Tommy returned as the White Ranger). I could only tell 2 fights from that period for Zack. You didn't even include perhaps his best fight which came from White Light part 1.
When comparring how they fight, you need the same level of Choreography.
Hard to judge. I like Zack and all, being the original, but Adam actually does REAL martial arts. Zack is kinda just improvising with his dance moves, but i know he still knows some actual fighting styles. They're close, but honestly, I have to say Adam is SLIGHTLY better.

Adam is clearly better at actual martial arts than zack. If they were to fight each other, Adam would win, period. Though zack would likely beat Adam in a dance competition. It's all about what you are more entertained by right? And personally, I prefer Eyeshine! LOL
After reading some of the comments I have to post another comment. the 1st season was the longest so to say Adam helped to beat way more mosters than Zack is a false statment just to hype him up more. I think Zack might have beat more cause season 3 was only 32 episodes. The 1st season was 60 and he was there for around 20 of the 52 in the 2nd season. So if you try to base it off of stats the numbers say it all. People who pick Adam over Zack have to find a new argument besides time and enimies.

If you go off of how clean the moves look Adam gets this but to be honest I think at the time Adam had been taking martials arts longer. On the defense for Zack he had to incorporate some type of "dance" into his fighting. That also played a part in his moves not looking too clean. Since I have actually taken martial arts and got close to being a blackbelt I understand how hard it would be to incorporate other things into your fighting when you have yet to master it yet. zack is still my fav
@Cainin12341 yea, that dancing had a significant purpose in teaching the audience about fighting. Dancing is reflexive and very comparable to fighting. They wanted the audience to know that the more adaptive your fighting style is, the better. You have to have flow, yet you have to respond and be unpredictable in a bad situation. Zack portrayed that well in my opinion.
I love love love both characters because Zack/Walter he was the original and he was always full of life there is not episode where he is not dancing and I like the fact that he mixed up his fighting than the others. Adam/johnny in MMPR I didn't really notice him but I soon realize he was a valuable player to the team he is very funny, caring, cute, and kind. Adam is sexy!!! (Adam and Tanya forever). So it's hard to choose between them cuz they were both good rangers.
That B-Twist @5:27 is what inspired me to try it. I still remember that day I first saw it. People need to stop comparing Walter and Johnny. They are both really good in their own styles. Adam was not meant to fight like Zach, new season, new styles. Period. They both served their purpose. And they are both good at what they do. I really enjoyed this video tho. Nice work!
Just based off movement and fighting style, Adam's moves were faster and cleaner than Zacks. Although Zack did alot more tricks, Adam's attacks LOOKED as if he actually kicked them more often than Zack's did. So when comparing the two, I have to say Adam wins. GO ADAM!! Zack was great too, I liked the tree flip. ;)
Zack wins. no one but Zack could dodge with doing the worm. Zack and Adam are both good rangers BUT Zack is a more charismatic character. he was funny but also strong. i think it was perfect the show had Jason as a serious character then Tommy who was also serious. Zack Balanced the Cast out.
zack is cool to watch but he's more so a show boat. he' cool and he can dance and mix it up and all and was the one to take over when Jason was missing in action, of course before tommy came into the scene. but adam is more serious. Comparing these two is like comparing jet lei to jacky chan.
First off Adam's comparisons are against Zedd's putties which took more precision to destroy. As you'll notice on Zack's last fight he isn't as agile or show-offy as he is aiming his kicks and whatnot at the Z's, while Adam has to focus upon those areas the entire time to defeat them. So to those that claim Zack was better in general due to agility and whatnot, remember, the scope of the enemies was far different.
@Devotedlamb19 Oh, okay. If you had to judge fighting styles, it would probably go to Zach, because he seems to be faster, more agile, and more elusive in his ability to fight. Adam has the more practical style, but Zach looked more effective in his craft.

But to round this all up who ever made this vid seems a bit biased to me zach's scenes are much longer than adams. But to stay on topic zack was great cause he is an original. but if adam came first and zack cam at any other point in ranger histtory besides the first season he would have been forgetable. Hes not that much more notable than any other black or green ranger to date. I know its hard to seperate nostalgia from facts but thats how i see it.
I have to agree that zack is fun to watch but adam is the better ranger i say this after just finishing watching season one again. Dont get me wrong zack was awesome but after tommy showed up that was it for him he used to be jason's right hand man but after tommy came along it was tommy and jason.. Zachs did lead the team but more as a way to give dynamic to the episode since the rest of the team was in trouble at times he took charge. its not like everyone was there and zach took lead.

To me Zac had originality in his moves and it was great that he combined dancing with MA, but at the end of the day I have to give my vote to Adam, just look at him he's so agile and graceful, not that Zac isn't but Adam demonstrated over and over his skill, in later seasons I thought he even fought better than Tommy, its just that he wasn't Red that didn't get him as much attention as Tommy, but again its only my opinion.
Ok I'll keep this one as a reg comment since it's pretty general. Zack, LISTEN GOOD AND LISTEN WELL, was NOT just a dancer. He was a martial artist, who created his own martial art style, occasionally incorporating dance. Walter, was/is also a martial artist. Zack (he's said it twice now), and what he trained in has been out there for years. He had his class, he did one on one training with student and the other martial artists on his team too. Heck, Trini had her own class as well!
Adam was a good fighter, but so was Zack. And some of these things some people mention about Adam are nothing unique to him or would be interchangeable if Zack never left.
Zordon being saved was a group effort (the originals had to use their powers to restore Zordon as well ), just like the team's quest for the ninja coins (at least in the movie). They originals had to operate without a mentor in the series and Zack took charge during that period. He didn't need comebacks to be great ever.

zordon? the WHOLE team saved Zordon, not just Adam. Adam has never defeated a monster alone. As a matter of fact, no power ranger has. Zack's accomplishments as black ranger is far greater than adam.s and i'm not saying that because he's black.

adam NEVER led. Until the "once a ranger" episode. Zack led the team on his FIRST season and shined. What did Adam do as black ranger NOT counting his two returns? nothing at all. I go with Zack, but barely. Both are amazing and their fight scenes never got stale. They always had new moves and they were both flexible and agile. In the end I pick Zack because he is slightly quicker and more energetic.
I think one of the main reasons why Adam is so popular now a days is because Johnny Young Bosch (The actor who plays Adam) is nice to the fans. People don't like Adam. They like Johnny Young Bosch
I've actually met Walter Jones at the Power Morphicon 2 and personally I think Zack has more of a personality. Adam is slick like Rocky is and has better leg extension. You have to also keep in mind that Zack is shorter than Adam. Both of them are excititng as fighters, but personality wise I think Adam is a little dry. Zack wins! :)
zack was the origional, and his style just got better as he matured. Im not saying Adam wasnt skilled cause that wouldnt be giving credit where its due. You said that Adam trained alot and had a dojo, well if you watched all of MMPR youd see that Zack actually was a teacher of martial arts, his was his own style of capoeira. He kicked butt, and looked good doing it. Zack forever!!

I think everyone's tastes, but when you see the level of fighting adam (one must also remember that because of karate since he was a child so he has experience) is annoying see something like zach adam can dance around it arrives without a touch!

I don't say adam is bette than zach because he won 3 (and not 2) tournament. I Say we don't know what the best and the only thing we can do is estimate both at the level of fighting. And for the code of honnor i never wanna say zach haven't honor. When you say the first comment of this post it's like "the fan of adam just love jyb". and this is what i reffer.
My mistake it was three, and two of those were group matches. It's no question that Adam already had fans, but if you mean my original comment, then yes alot of Adam's "hype" comes from JYB voice acting fans and his yrs of interaction with PR fans. He had a sudden burst in popularity and you have some fans acting like the character "Adam" was some ranger god after OAR. Adam was a great fighter, but as a character he didn't have much going on beyond that. Which is why people say he's "hyped."
@slickricklj i understand that. There are a fan of adam who love him because is cool or because he love JYB. But there are true fan lilke wh not wait OAR For love the character. The problem is that the writers did not want to give him a big role not because he is not interested but because they prefer to highlight tommy. But I do not say it for you. Generally when people want to say some nasty things about the characters they always leave us this excuse and it gets really annoying.

I hate that Adam's relationship with Tanya was thrown under a bus, as well as their cool bits in the turbo film. Personally, I've always enjoyed Adam and wished he had had more of a chance to have a fleshed out character.

No but the three tournament adam won yes. And the fight without power show the courageous of adam. And in the series you can see adam training a lot of times and now he have a dojo. In battle, Zack combined dance with martial arts and therefore, he was more agile and flexible. Kimberly combined gymnastics with martial arts and had more maneuverability and speed than the others because of it.
Non at the start when adam come to angel grove he have no power. It's zack who have the mastodonth power. Zack has never had to fight without protection. If there was a problem it could morph.

Adam fight the putties without powers. And in "in space" he save the life of carlos a first time without power. For the fight you can see so many video where you can see is rellay Johnny who fight the puties. But in costumes there are no proof.
Johnny yong bosch made his fight himself. Walter jones just use stuntman. he gives a few kicks and dance but it is a stuntman who fights instead. Moreover, when we reflect a bit of adam won martial arts tournaments, beating monsters alone, sometimes without power, he has a dojo, and he pushed a monster with a morph defective and he could not win against that Dancer !

You cant compare Zack's one year of experience to Adam's multiple years of being a PR veteran. Even then, Adam still has never defeated a monster on his own, which is why I dont see the point in this argument.

Zack has STILL fought monsters alone. Again, you cant compare Zack's ONE YEAR of ranger expirience to Adam's multiple. Compare Zack MMPRS1 to Adam MMPRS2. Zack has done way more as a ranger than Adam when they first started out,. Period.

I honestly don't think there has, or will ever be a better black ranger than Zach Taylor. Everything he did was original. Adam's fighting style was good, but it was also a bit generic.

@jake815718 Actually Walter was falsely arrested and WON his case. He was DWB (driving while black) in the wrong area. Only reason Adam even appeared was because Koichi Sakamoto asked Johnny Bosch to return (same reason he bothered to return in Always a Chance). I do think Adam has become overhyped and alot of it has to do with JYB being a voice actor and his interaction with fans as well.
I think Zack's a better fighter, he's way more cool to watch and a total beast. People always say Adams better, I guess I can see why but for me Zack is the best. Adam got more time to show his skills and plus the only reason some people like Adam is because he returned in PROO instead of Zack. But overall their both really great fighters, I just like Zack better.

@JTthegreat88 It wasn't about being money hungry. They stayed on the show well past their contract (40 eps), and by the time s2 came around they were doing even more work without compensation. The show became a huge hit and none of them were given their just desserts outside of JDF. Adam may have had a longer run, but he was mostly a background character w/no substantial development all the same.
I definitely prefer Zack's style, and find him to be completely underrated as a fighter, esp when people say all he did was dance (which is BS). This is probably the toughest battle because neither one of them sucked and BOTH did amazing work on the show.

Adam is clearly better at actual martial arts than zack. If they were to fight each other, Adam would win, period. Though zack would likely beat Adam in a dance competition. It's all about what you are more entertained by right? And personally, I prefer Eyeshine! LOL

After reading some of the comments I have to post another comment. the 1st season was the longest so to say Adam helped to beat way more mosters than Zack is a false statment just to hype him up more. I think Zack might have beat more cause season 3 was only 32 episodes. The 1st season was 60 and he was there for around 20 of the 52 in the 2nd season. So if you try to base it off of stats the numbers say it all. People who pick Adam over Zack have to find a new argument besides time and enimies.

If you go off of how clean the moves look Adam gets this but to be honest I think at the time Adam had been taking martials arts longer. On the defense for Zack he had to incorporate some type of "dance" into his fighting. That also played a part in his moves not looking too clean. Since I have actually taken martial arts and got close to being a blackbelt I understand how hard it would be to incorporate other things into your fighting when you have yet to master it yet. zack is still my fav

@Cainin12341 yea, that dancing had a significant purpose in teaching the audience about fighting. Dancing is reflexive and very comparable to fighting. They wanted the audience to know that the more adaptive your fighting style is, the better. You have to have flow, yet you have to respond and be unpredictable in a bad situation. Zack portrayed that well in my opinion.

I love love love both characters because Zack/Walter he was the original and he was always full of life there is not episode where he is not dancing and I like the fact that he mixed up his fighting than the others. Adam/johnny in MMPR I didn't really notice him but I soon realize he was a valuable player to the team he is very funny, caring, cute, and kind. Adam is sexy!!! (Adam and Tanya forever). So it's hard to choose between them cuz they were both good rangers.

That B-Twist @5:27 is what inspired me to try it. I still remember that day I first saw it. People need to stop comparing Walter and Johnny. They are both really good in their own styles. Adam was not meant to fight like Zach, new season, new styles. Period. They both served their purpose. And they are both good at what they do. I really enjoyed this video tho. Nice work!

Just based off movement and fighting style, Adam's moves were faster and cleaner than Zacks. Although Zack did alot more tricks, Adam's attacks LOOKED as if he actually kicked them more often than Zack's did. So when comparing the two, I have to say Adam wins. GO ADAM!! Zack was great too, I liked the tree flip. ;)

Zack wins. no one but Zack could dodge with doing the worm. Zack and Adam are both good rangers BUT Zack is a more charismatic character. he was funny but also strong. i think it was perfect the show had Jason as a serious character then Tommy who was also serious. Zack Balanced the Cast out.

First off Adam's comparisons are against Zedd's putties which took more precision to destroy. As you'll notice on Zack's last fight he isn't as agile or show-offy as he is aiming his kicks and whatnot at the Z's, while Adam has to focus upon those areas the entire time to defeat them. So to those that claim Zack was better in general due to agility and whatnot, remember, the scope of the enemies was far different.

But to round this all up who ever made this vid seems a bit biased to me zach's scenes are much longer than adams. But to stay on topic zack was great cause he is an original. but if adam came first and zack cam at any other point in ranger histtory besides the first season he would have been forgetable. Hes not that much more notable than any other black or green ranger to date. I know its hard to seperate nostalgia from facts but thats how i see it.

I have to agree that zack is fun to watch but adam is the better ranger i say this after just finishing watching season one again. Dont get me wrong zack was awesome but after tommy showed up that was it for him he used to be jason's right hand man but after tommy came along it was tommy and jason.. Zachs did lead the team but more as a way to give dynamic to the episode since the rest of the team was in trouble at times he took charge. its not like everyone was there and zach took lead.

To me Zac had originality in his moves and it was great that he combined dancing with MA, but at the end of the day I have to give my vote to Adam, just look at him he's so agile and graceful, not that Zac isn't but Adam demonstrated over and over his skill, in later seasons I thought he even fought better than Tommy, its just that he wasn't Red that didn't get him as much attention as Tommy, but again its only my opinion.

Ok I'll keep this one as a reg comment since it's pretty general. Zack, LISTEN GOOD AND LISTEN WELL, was NOT just a dancer. He was a martial artist, who created his own martial art style, occasionally incorporating dance. Walter, was/is also a martial artist. Zack (he's said it twice now), and what he trained in has been out there for years. He had his class, he did one on one training with student and the other martial artists on his team too. Heck, Trini had her own class as well!

Adam was a good fighter, but so was Zack. And some of these things some people mention about Adam are nothing unique to him or would be interchangeable if Zack never left.
Zordon being saved was a group effort (the originals had to use their powers to restore Zordon as well ), just like the team's quest for the ninja coins (at least in the movie). They originals had to operate without a mentor in the series and Zack took charge during that period. He didn't need comebacks to be great ever.

@Dboy4100X3 ok soo adam was very skilled martial artist ( him ,rocky , and Aisha won the tournament in that episode) zack was dancer. adam lead a team of power rangers when the overdrive rangers were disconnected from the morphing grid, saved the world from ivan ooze and saved zordons life, risked his life morphing with a broken power coin to save carlos life, helped defeat 2 seasons worth of villans and recovers the zeo sub crystal as a kid. so to be honest adam is 2x better then zack

zordon? the WHOLE team saved Zordon, not just Adam. Adam has never defeated a monster alone. As a matter of fact, no power ranger has. Zack's accomplishments as black ranger is far greater than adam.s and i'm not saying that because he's black.

Both Adam AND Zack were black rangers for a season and a half. Beat up more putties? Just watch the video. Zack is fighting wayy more putties at once than Adam. either way, that's a redundat reason. Saved Zordon? Hell, Tommy did ALL the work!! Zack led the team numerous times dude. Zack also defeated Tommy in battle. Adam never led until 15 years later.
Adam was a good ranger, but to say he was a better "black" ranger than Zack is just crazy.

I go with Zack, but barely. Both are amazing and their fight scenes never got stale. They always had new moves and they were both flexible and agile. In the end I pick Zack because he is slightly quicker and more energetic.

I've actually met Walter Jones at the Power Morphicon 2 and personally I think Zack has more of a personality. Adam is slick like Rocky is and has better leg extension. You have to also keep in mind that Zack is shorter than Adam. Both of them are excititng as fighters, but personality wise I think Adam is a little dry. Zack wins! :)

zack was the origional, and his style just got better as he matured. Im not saying Adam wasnt skilled cause that wouldnt be giving credit where its due. You said that Adam trained alot and had a dojo, well if you watched all of MMPR youd see that Zack actually was a teacher of martial arts, his was his own style of capoeira. My mistake it was three, and two of those were group matches. It's no question that Adam already had fans, but if you mean my original comment, then yes alot of Adam's "hype" comes from JYB voice acting fans and his yrs of interaction with PR fans. He had a sudden burst in popularity and you have some fans acting like the character "Adam" was some ranger god after OAR. Adam was a great fighter, but as a character he didn't have much going on beyond that. Which is why people say he's "hyped."

The problem is that the writers did not want to give him a big role not because he is not interested but because they prefer to highlight tommy. But I do not say it for you. I hate that Adam's relationship with Tanya was thrown under a bus, as well as their cool bits in the turbo film. Personally, I've always enjoyed Adam and wished he had had more of a chance to have a fleshed out character.

No but the three tournament adam won yes. And the fight without power show the courageous of adam. And in the series you can see adam training a lot of times and now he have a dojo. And he train tanya & carlos. It's not because zack can dance doesn't make him a better foghter too. Moreover adam use a mix of different martial arts!

And just because Adam trained and competed in tournaments outside of combat doesn't mean he's a better fighter. In battle, Zack combined dance with martial arts and therefore, he was more agile and flexible. Kimberly combined gymnastics with martial arts and had more maneuverability and speed than the others because of it.

Johnny yong bosch made his fight himself. Walter jones just use stuntman. he gives a few kicks and dance but it is a stuntman who fights instead. Moreover, when we reflect a bit of adam won martial arts tournaments, beating monsters alone, sometimes without power, he has a dojo, and he pushed a monster with a morph defective and he could not win against that Dancer !

@jake815718 Actually Walter was falsely arrested and WON his case. He was DWB (driving while black) in the wrong area. Only reason Adam even appeared was because Koichi Sakamoto asked Johnny Bosch to return (same reason he bothered to return in Always a Chance). I do think Adam has become overhyped and alot of it has to do with JYB being a voice actor and his interaction with fans as well.

when it comes down to it Adam's char had a longer run due to he didn't get money hungry like the Zack Taylor Char.

@JTthegreat88 It wasn't about being money hungry. They stayed on the show well past their contract (40 eps), and by the time s2 came around they were doing even more work without compensation. The show became a huge hit and none of them were given their just desserts outside of JDF. Adam may have had a longer run, but he was mostly a background character w/no substantial development all the same.

I definitely prefer Zack's style, and find him to be completely underrated as a fighter, esp when people say all he did was dance (which is BS). This is probably the toughest battle because neither one of them sucked and BOTH did amazing work on the show.

I think they are the closet in sheer talent. Adam and Zach were a joy to watch. It's hard to pick one because they were both so smooth.
