I was hoping they would model the 616 after both this and the bright echo: buffered mode being bright and true bypass mode being dark. I have the 616 and it sounds great, but I keep the mix low most of the time cus the echoes can be loud and I like the distant, faint, ambient type sound
1) To 44eelz - Analog delays use 'bucket brigade technology' so they're limited by what chips are available in the market to use. For digital delay makers, all they have to do is add more RAM and ta-da.. more delay, and RAM is cheap.
2) To ercspy - The T-Rex Reptile has a built in modulation section (can be turned on/off) which can be used to simulate wow/flutter commonly found with tape type delays (Echoplex). I like my Reptile and my Replica. ;-)
@3dsman do hybrid analog/digital delay pedals have a true analog overtone? Are they just as warm, natural, etc. Cus theres a bunch of hybrids out there that say digital analog technology like the Guyatone tube echo or the T-Rex.
andy : why does all malekko stuff get discontinued or always out of stock? im interested in the 919 now for sure. please fwd my message to malekko to please start making more units ? thank u
@ProGuitarShopDemos i need a good distortion for ambient to post rock type music...i cant really find the exact one im lookin for....i would like it to be warm and the distortion sound to be more behind my reverb delay and modulations than in front...do you have any suggestions? right now i have a strymon blue sky elcapistan and carbon copy mxr....
i think the "dark" version produces a more "low",spacious and obscure echo, (u can notice at 1:58 and 2:06 )while the bright version makes a more "sharp" and "shiny" sound, a more "bright" repeat.
I've been using this pedal for a while now, and I absolutely love the thing! I play an american strat through a hot rod deville 4X10. I got the dark version because of the natural brightness of strats and fender amps. If you run humbuckers and EL-34 based amps, you should be ok with the bright.
i looked at a million pedals, i had 300$ credit at Tone Factor, I got this one, what sealed the deal is the input for an expression pedal, the next coolest one for the money is the "Freakshow Echo".. However this one sounds a little richer and i think is a little more audiophile grade!!! Happy G.A.S.
I really like that riff and tone at the reviewer's favorite setting... Gonna need to get me one of these. Not too awful impressed with my DL4's analog echo setting (though it does other awesome things).
what is that expression pedal? where can i get it?

Two answers to two questions below:

i found out that a volume pedal is NOT the same as an expression pedal, i suggest M Audio, new for 25 bucks, it is what Malekko uses..later
