My guitar has wide frets, and my finger slant too much and end up curved in like a claw, is this due to my long thin fingers, the guitar or will i learn my way out of this natural response.

in order to opt out of PE for school, i had to take up an instrument other than piano. u've taught me so much! now when i start school i wont b the one who has no idea whats goin on. thx 

what is a 'Lick'?

licks and riffs are almost the same concept. I.E. Short melodies or "catchy" melodies that are played on the guitar (or any instrument). Though, the word "riff" is more used in the context of a song. For example "the intro riff of Smoke on The water". And licks in the context of a solo. The final lick Jimmy Page played on Stairway to Heaven.

But basically the same thing--Short melodies or chord progressions that we like or recognize immediately when we hear.
