@TheAirsoftSoldier81 We (the shelter I volunteer at) don't recommend ferrets for families with children under 5. That's for the safety of the child and the ferret.
i wish i had my own place then i would adopt a few. i know they are awesome pets if u take care of them. my neighbors when i was a kid had 2 and i loved playing with them.
both of my ferrets were $300 each and my cage was $500 and all the accessories were about $100, so altogether it cost $900 for my ferrets and everything they need. But i am only 13 and i saved up all the money myslef, and i didn't get my ferrets at the same time, i got them about 7 months apart. Plus i have a 2 story cage for them, But they are worth all the money. :)
@merlin3251201 Ferrets are not out door pets. They die in cold or hot weather, a chicken coop FFS who tol dyou how to look after ferrets the poor things
@peatree28 lol? uhm... a chicken coop does have a large sheltered area which stays cool in the sun and warm in the cold. and it gives my ferrets huge amounts of room to enjoy, and theres virtually no smell as its outside. so.... i think i know how 2 look after ferrets quite well ^.^
@merlin3251201 YOUR WRONG!!! just do a real simple little thing an google ferrets as pets an how they should be housed, an what happenes in heat, if you wanted them as a pet why have them outside?? Ferrets are extremely social an should be inside playing
@peatree28 are u fucking stupid? google ferrets as pets? ive been having ferrets as 'pets' for nearly 5 years and i use them as working ferrets, hunting rabbits. i have them outside so they feel more wild and have more air and space and so live for longer, ferrets are social yes but it rly doesnt matter whether u keep them in or out, a decent outdoor hutch will keep a ferret cool in the summer and warm in winter, obvs u never seen a chicken coop before, otherwise u wouldnt say stupid things
@merlin3251201 aHHH SO YOUR A BIG MOUTH DOG, most likely not so mouthy in person, hey fuckhead, how about u go live out in the chicken with your ferrets, where you belong, your a piss weak animal killer, wether u use ferrets or a gun, all pathetic an weak
@peatree28 are u mentally ill? seriously mate, not sure why your dishing out the swear words over the fact i keep my ferrets in a chicken coop... ill show u a pic of it and then perhaps u'll realise why they love it so much, and no im no weak, i do weight training daily, just look at my profile pic ;) scum like you who use that kind of language over something as simple as ferret accommodation (lol) has some serious issues ^.^ and hunting with ferrets is a good sport, but i guess u know nothin.
@peatree28 lol just checked ur info, 'I hate with a vengeance Animal Abusers they are DICKLESS GUTLESS scum' rofl.... u really are mental if u think hunting makes people 'animal abusers'.
i spent 700.00 for my frist ferret 130.00 for my ferret and another 500.00 for his cage littler box, littler, food, toys, vitamans, treats, 2 hamics, ferret couch, chew toys, because he was just a kit and still teething, some jackets to put him in just for fun. a travle case, puppy pads for the corners of my house, (they like to poop in corners) and a leash to take him for a walk welll woth the 700.00 now i got two ferrets did not spend as much the second time and 30.00 for vet
hey you look like a ferret breeder how much would you charge for a common ferret cause i want to buy one but ive heard that they are actually alot cheaper than you see them in adoption centers
oh my god hahahaha i had that towel!! man, that was such a blast from the past. also, CUTE CUTE BABIES. I went to see a litter earlier today of babies about this age abandoned at a rescue, they were so darling <3
They aren't difficult to take care of. They are very social creatures and want to spend time playing and being with you. You can't leave them in a cage all day, they need exercise and enrichment. You can litter box train them too.
If your interested in getting a ferret, make sure you do your homework. They are some work, but a lot of fun too. They need your time and love. Also, it's best to get one from a shelter.

Do Ferrets chew on wires or such things ? Like on a computer ? I dont know much about their behavior
niefali 1 year ago
@niefali Usually ferrets don't chew on wires like a hamster would, but that doesn't mean that there aren't some that might.

I have a few questions about ferrets. 1. Are they expensive + their accessories.
2. Is litter box training hard and do you have to clean the box everyday?
3. Do they smell if so how do you keep them not smell.
4. If your away (like in school) do you keep them in a cage and if you do, do you setup food and water. or what?
5. can you make them do tricks like give a paw rollover and jump?

If you keep their bedding clean and their boxes clean and feed them a high quality protein based food, they don't smell any more than a dog.

No, ferrets don't purr. They do make a noise, however, it's sort of a grunting sound. We call it "dooking".
